Chapter 3 - In Love With A Shifter

Chapter Three

Raelynn's POV

Boom–the whole place shook like it was experiencing an earthquak

I swayed with elegance, dodging blows and kicks swiftly like a pro. I shifted my weight to the left, slightly avoiding a punch aimed at my stomach. I punched my attacker in the face, followed by a roundhouse kick in his groin.... Damn I'm such a bitch

My attacker let out a gut wrenching scream as he went down. I was about to finish him up and help the other warriors but got distracted by an annoying sound, that was beginning to get on my nerves: I turned to finish off my attacker, when I heard the sound again, this time, louder than before, I stopped as it sounded familiar but I couldn't pinpoint what it was exactly

"What the heck?" I yelled furious.

"Who brought a freaking time bomb to a supernatural battle field?" I questioned, no one in sight to give an answe

Wait a sec, why hasn't it gone off yet? Or, perhaps, maybe.... Holy cow, I screamed on the top of my lungs, as I tumbled my way down the bed

I turned to look at my bedside table to see seven forty–five, glaring right back at me

Shit! I'm screwed, I exclaimed as I scrambled off the floor and dashed for my bathroom. I was out within three minutes

"Rae! " My mom called. "Be down in a second" I answered, as I grabbed my backpack and shuffled out of my room, locking the door as soon as i was out.

" Rae! I hope you're ready!" Shouted my mom, again.

'yes, I'm ready!' I replied as I entered the living room,I rounded the corner and saw her by the door, apparently waiting for me

I looked outside to see my siblings in the car, damn, I'm going to school with them in the same car... could this get any worse

As I took a step outside,I noticed my mom staring at me with an expectant look on her face. 'Why is she staring at me like that?' I wondered.... 'Oh! sheez, I forgot to greet her'.i mentally facepalmed.

'Good morning' I greeted her, and she just gave me a nod in response.... It was like she was in a trance or something. Weird

I just shrug, as I passed her and headed to the car, as my mom locked the front door trailing behind me, as I opened the car door, I looked up to see her by the driver's side, damn my mom is really eager to send me off to another hell–hole

This will be the first time since I started driving, that I'll be going to school in the same car with my mum and siblings... Once in a while I carpool with Jax, my older brother, who's barely around which I'm not bothered about, everyone heal in a different way at a different pace.

We'd just pulled up in front of the school building, when I remembered I had no idea what the name of the school was.

'Hey mum... What's the name of the school? ' I asked, as I gave her a glance. to be sure she heard me.

" Monsters high" Ari chipped in, which earned her a glare from mom, as I ignored her, and instead faced my mom for an answer.

"Shadows high" she answered

"Not much of a difference if you ask me" mason interjects.

" Keyword: Ask, and no one asked you". I retorted having the last word.

I looked back at the building, it was really big and had two large double doors, that were flung open as students were seen loitering around and even some were making out.

"Making out!? I rubbed my eyes to take another look to be sure I wasn't seeing things

Yup, definitely not making things up.

The school building was painted a very light shade of green mixed with a lighter shade of purple (lavender rose) and an earthy, organic shade, that's a mixture of orange and yellow, the light mid-tones features warm notes of yellow.... Not that I'm into colors and architecture but this color combinations for a school building was quite unique and different from the one's I've seen.

The parking lot was huge and quite spacious, meaning I won't have to struggle for a parking spot, as there were enough space for everyone.

I could easily tell that rich kids attends this school, expecially if the expensive looking cars parked is anything to go by.

One more thing I noticed was how everyone looked as if they'd walked out of a fashion magazine.... They all had the looks that rivaled that of Hollywood stars, and that's saying something. Irrespective of their skin tones non looked out of place or less beautiful than the other.

All of a sudden, I felt nervous. I've never been around so many beautiful people in my life like this before, I felt like I'd stand out... Not in good or unique kinda way but like an ugly ducklings in the midst of swans and flamingos. Not a great comparison if you ask me... But no one's asking.

The students were much, way more than those in my previous school, probably three times our population. I could see curious looks on their faces as they glanced at the car.

"Yup, I'm a nervous wreck, who'd stand out like a sore thumb'. Not good at all

I'm quite pretty, actually very good looking, I'd been blessed with good genes inherited from my parents, but staring at the teens giving my mom's car curious glance, I sure felt every bit of insecurities one could feel.

Damn! they're ridiculously good looking, I deemed it a sin to look this good... Surgery couldn't do this much wonder.

Seriously they look out of a fairy tale,, like I'd stepped into an entirely different world... Unbeknownst to me how true my words were.

"Do you want to sleep in the car?" Ashley questioned, giving me a look that I can't decipher.

"Bye?" I said, more like asked as I opened the car's door and stepped out. Not looking back as my mom drove away. I raised my head and noticed, everyone was staring at me.

I mean "Eyes" from every angle were all on me. Suddenly I became self conscious, adding to my ever growing anxiety.

I quickly let that feeling go as I put on my tough girl facade, besides I don't live to impress no one, especially peeps I don't know shit about.

With that thought in mind, I heeded for the double doors at the school building entrance and pulled on my metaphorical big girl panties, as I pushed through the doors.

I'd thought I'd be relieved of prying eyes as I entered the school hallways, but damn! I'd walked into an ocean (pacific and Atlantic combined) of students. I was drowning in my anxiety as I could feel every pair of eyes in the hallway staring at me.

As I moved, not taking more than a step, when I heard it; the whispers, it started little, from a few students and then increased till it seemed like everyone were whispering.

I noticed something strange, a few students to my left were sniffing the air, and then their eyes landed on me before they too started whispering, pointing at me.

As I walked passed them, I noticed they weren't the only ones tilting their heads back, with their nose in the air, sniffing.

"OMG, don't tell me I stink" that'd be embarrassing.

I kept my head low and followed the directions my mom gave to me, and headed for the office she'd told me to go to.

Once I found it, I entered and walked up to the desk, I saw. A lady who seemed to be in her late twenties seated behind it.

She seemed to have not noticed my presence as she was so caught up in her work. I opened my mouth to greet her but was cut off before I can utter a word.

"Are you going to stand there all day, looking like a moron". She questioned not sparing me a glance.

I opened my mouth to reply her but before the words left my mouth she spoke again

"State your business, Human".she spoke in a condensending tone, as she gave me a look of disgust.

"Wow! Great manners". I said with an heavy dose of sarcasm. Gosh what crawled up her ass?

She looked up,as she blessed me with a look of irritation mixed with hatred.

Wow! If looks could kill, I'd definitely be six feet under right now. Something definitely crawled up her ass and definitely died there.... that's the only theory I can come up with for her cranky attitude.

She extended my schedule and locker number with it's combinations, as she glared daggers at me.

I was also given books I'd need to take notes and text books as well.

I glanced at the schedule to see I had only five minutes before first period, and I'd need to place my book in the locker and locate my first class, which happens to be chemistry.

I turned my gaze to her, and asked in a very polite tone, what floor my class was. I was overly polite, plastering a fake smile on my face, she turned to me, surprisingly without shooting daggers at me, and for a moment I thought she had come off her high horse, and was going to direct me to my class so I can get going cause I was running out of time. I even released a breath in relieve only to be faced with a smirk and a mocking look as she turned back to the computer she's been busy with all this while.

I looked at her in shock, wondering where our peace treaty had gone off to, damn should have signed on it.

"You surely didn't expect me to direct you, did you?" She mocked.

"Besides, I don't give a rat's ass if you're able to get to class, cause guess what? She asked rhetorically, with a creepy smile.

" I don't care" she answered, her eyes lighting up like she'd solved the world's problem. Which if you ask me is actually the increase in population and not her lack of care.

"Of cause, you don't care, and I'm a fool for asking, instead of fleeing from thy hag's presence". I said my piece, proud I had the last words and left before she opens another floodgates of insults . I left her, mouth hanging open, which is a risky thing on her part if you ask me, cause that's an open invitation to whatever fly in the school.

I snickered at her pathetic self, as I speedwalked outta there, as her felt her shooting daggers at my back.

Phew! Good riddance, I muttered as I once again found myself in the school's hallways, the ocean of students has dwindled to a river, instead. Not good enough, but at least much more better than earlier.
