Chapter Eight
Raelynn's POV
It's been two weeks since I was transferred from my previous school to Shadow high and everything's still as it was the first day I started. I thought they were being mean to me because I was a new face and that things were going to die down eventually but reverse is the case. They've become more mean, but then I'm not one to be pushed around and not fight back.
" She's human". Were the first words I heard as I stepped into the school's building.
"No shit Sherlock, I'm human just like you block-head ". I stated, earning me Snickers from everyone. It was as if my words were ridiculous and I was getting the i-know something -That'd -prove-you wrong kinda vibe from everyone, like they knew a big secret I didn't.
Gosh, what kind of psycho school did my mom transfer me to, everyone has been acting weird and secretive, including the teachers. The sound of the bell brought me out of my thoughts and I closed my locker and headed to class. I'm now able to navigate my way through the hallways and get to class on time, all thanks to the tour I had in and outside of the school building all by myself.
I have AP English lit first period. I still have enough time to spare, but decided to spend it in the classroom instead of roaming the hallways. As much as I'm glad the glares had dwindled, reduced to sideways glance though. It's still un–nerving but it's better than feeling like I'm on display though I'd take that over feeling like I'd stepped into my "own– doom". High school. The looks, the jibe, the disgusted look I get... It was all getting quite annoying, I was ready to quit being a student of this school, but when has fate ever worked in my favor, besides I'd never run away from my battles, that's just unprofessional and so not my thing.
As I was on my way to class, entertaining myself with the several thoughts that crossed my mind, I stumbled upon a couple making out with each other. I had no idea kissing could be this intense, It seemed as if they were about to swallow each other. I walked past them quickly, feeling tainted by what I'd witnessed and thanked the heavens for the power of invisibility it has bestowed upon me.
They certainly are gonna eat each other's face off. Luckily I won't be a witness when that happens.
I sped up the stairs leading to the third floor and walked through the hallway. Though I'd toured the school after school ended and there was no one around, last week,I still have to read the words written on the door to know which one leads to the subject I'm taking.
Finally I found it, and entered without wasting time. There was an handful of students in the class already, I ignored their stares as I went to the back of the class to sit down.
I still felt their stares, as they had not looked away and instead continued as they tried to make me feel uncomfortable, and without hesitating for a sec I voiced out my thoughts.
"I thought we had a treaty?". I asked as I raised my head to give them a confused look.
A series of emotions crossed their face, but the two that stands out were that of confusion and shock but they quickly masked it but I'd seen it already.
"Whatcha talking about? Weirdo". The blonde girl in their midst questioned with a glare directed at me.
"What's with all the glaring, y'all been doing". I returned with a question of my own.
" Is this bitch crazy? If you know what's good for you you'd shut your trap". Blondy said fury dancing in her eyes, damn can I get serious, blondy is about to shoot lasers out of her eyes at me.
"Oh don't worry 'bout me now, I'll be fine, you should worry more about the makeup plastered on your face that's about to fall". I mocked, even going as far as pouting.
The look I got from blondy was enough to make the devil pee in his pants, and I knew it, deep in my bones that I'd made me some mortal enemy.
"You shouldn't have gotten involved with her". The girl I met at the cafeteria few days ago said. Coming to stand beside me.
" Why? I asked before it dawned on me. " She's the school queen bee". I stated, rubbing my hands together in glee, like I'd found the answer to why a fish is called sea lion. If you ask me that seems very important I mean why name a fish that.
"She's gone off to la-la land again". The second girl said amused.
" She's a weird one, but I like her, she can play with us". A guy with blue eyes said. He seems to be friends with the two girls,I didn't see him that day at the cafeteria.
" What are you? Twelve?". I asked in bewildered.
" Smart ass, I like that, my name is Nathan by the way". A guy I hadn't noticed introduced himself.
"What's with the treaty you spoke of? And my name's Chris by the way". The blue eyed guy asked as he introduced himself.
" Apparently I'd thought everyone would've stopped staring and glaring at me, since it's been two weeks now since I was transferred here". I explained as I gave blondy a glare.
" But that doesn't seem to be the case". Chris said, stating the obvious.
"I'm Lia and my friend here is Maya". Lia introduced and I nodded in acknowledgement. " I'm sure y'all know my name so I'll skip that". I said, pausing to access their face before I continued . " Why are you guys interacting with me". I questioned eyeing them suspeciously. " I mean it's obvious no one wants to get involved with me here and I know everyone hates my presence in this school, so.,... Why are you guys talking to me like you'd talk to a friend". I explained as I stared at them expectantly. As Nathan opened his mouth, to answer my question, I think. The teacher entered the classroom along with the few students loitering around the classroom entrance.
We all went to take our seats, and without wasting time the teacher started with the topic for today.
