Chapter 17 - SACRIFICE

Strat! Strat!

"Um, what's this sound? I think I've felt these steps before." I thought.

My hands are picked up, my legs are weak, and it seems like there are several people behind me following. The sound of the door started.

"Huuu!" the shouts of the people around the noble echoed.

Bak!

"Ouch!"

An object flew over my head. And I still have one question, Where is the sun? The creaking of the ground began to sound from my limp legs. My body was dragged until my feet felt the second step.

I'm still trying to open my eyes to look around, but my vision is still the same 'Black'; that's all I can see.

Suddenly my body was lifted and tied. It looks like I'm bound to a piece of wood, judging from the texture. Not long after, there was the sound of water, but the water was quite stinging.

"Ah! I understand! Hopefully, the meat they make is better," I thought.

I knew they were having a party in that room. Soon a dim light began to appear and slowly began to clear, and the light began to pierce my eyes.

"Ouch! Haaa! Keep that away from me!" I shouted unconsciously.

The light hurts my eyes.

"Look at her eyes! Totally black and sinful. That's the curse that the residents throw when they see me. Even though she is beautiful, her body is full of sin."

I started to roll my eyes again and correct my sight furthermore.

"Black Pearls!" call Lavanya.

"Oh…! We can finally get out of that room!" he groaned as he groaned in pain.

"What exactly happened to you?" I asked.

"Somehow, I seem to feel the Power of Inspiration in there," replied Black Pearl.

"What are you saying? Gafas?" Lavanya screamed, showing concern.

"Hey-Hey! What are you talking about? Can you guys get rid of that and focus on me?" I said.

Then they fell silent and began to observe my condition.

"What's wrong with you?" Black Pearl innocently asked.

Then Lavanya explained my current state, and Black Pearl started to explain his situation.

"It seems that your blindness has something to do with the Black Pearl, so—"

Suddenly the sound of a large object approaching, and all eyes immediately turned to him. It was a bone pushed by several soldiers to get close to the lecherous Tambun man on his luxurious chair.

"He is again. Why is he always at the crucial moment?"

It wasn't enough that the screams of the women and men started coming out from behind the door, right behind the soldiers. The clatter of chains was deafening, their hands were in shackles, and some were still bleeding fresh.

"Who are they?" I asked.

I couldn't take my eyes off them. Then came a soldier approaching.

"They are the same creatures as you," replied the soldier guarding me with an arrogant face.

"Tch, you think you're handsome with an expression like that? Catfish!" I thought.

"Black, can you let me go?" I asked.

"I have to absorb magic for that," replied Black Pearl.

"How bad is your current situation?" I asked again.

"Yes," he answered simply.

After a few seconds, they came out of the door magic soot began to appear from their bodies.

"Black, here!"

"That's right, magic soot! They must be magicians; my feelings about the room are not wrong. Surely these soldiers have the power of Gafas in there," he explained.

They started up the podium and were tied to a pole under my feet. There were about ten men and five women surrounding the pillar.

The oil smell began to waft again, and the man in charge of fat stood up, bringing his lips close to the hole in the bone-hardening funnel.

"We are proud of the residents of Segat. As the law, we have set that for anyone with magic or magic items, he will receive the consequences by atonement for his sins with holy fire." The man continued his speech until all the magicians were ready on the wooden pole.

Suddenly all the witches' eyes lit up, and they were stunned to see me. Because of their sharp gazes, I started grinning slightly awkwardly at them.

"Erm, is there something on my face?" I tried to lighten the mood but to no avail.

They exchanged glances and nodded to each other. A man at the bottom left started to speak.

"Enchanters, Listen to me!" he asked.

I turned to him in surprise. How can everyone who has magic know about me?

"We have studied magic and the related books, and among them have mentioned the characteristics of stature and your powers.

Enchanter, if this is my first and last meeting, I beg you to take all our strength, avenge us, and destroy this place.

We're fed up, we're tired, we—" said the man who was cut off by his angry cries.

Then someone continued his speech.

"Take our strength when the fire has covered our bodies. I leave the rest to you!" said the curly-haired woman.

I smiled slightly and said simultaneously as Black Pearl, "With pleasure!"

Then they held a strange ritual using fire. Scenes of the story of the witches being burnt began to be shown until they reached the stage, where the soldiers circled around us while pulling fire arrows at us.

"Shoot!"

The rain of fire began to pierce the straw that was under the magicians. Their legs are burning, but their wills are round while looking at me with intense gazes.

"Black Pearl!"

"Yes! This is what I was waiting for," he replied.

The drums of war began to be beaten. The sound of trumpets began to accompany the drums. The moment the fire started to cover their bodies.

"Now!"

Magic soot began to escape from their bodies and circled the flames that enveloped us. The colors of their magic began to dissolve in our magic and turned black.

The fire started to spread up my wooden steps from the side. I heard the sound of water coming from the wooden steps.

Byur!

My body was wet with gas, and the fire immediately devoured me. Loud cheers continued to echo around the city until the ruler began to stand up.

"Look! Look! This is retribution for those who disobey my orders. Whoever dares to fight me will be punished!" he arrogantly boasted in front of the public.

"Pssst! Ha ha ha! Sorry Lavanya, I can't help but laugh anymore."

The fat man, the soldiers, and the townspeople of Segat were shocked and silent.

"W-what?" The fat man gasped.

Thanks to that fire, the ropes and bonds of my body were untied. I jumped right in front of the residents who were watching the human burning roast. The scent is quite attractive.

"Oi-oi! Look! His body is still shrouded in flames!" one of the men shouted.

"Oh, this!"

Bush!

I brushed off the flames with the wind of the wings and began to coat my body with the Hawthorn clothes.

"Wh—who fucking are you?" asked The fat.

"Wings, clothes made of magic wood, and black eyes. She — she must be a demon!" said a man.

"Shut up!"

I quickly crushed his body.

"Haa!" shouted the residents, frantically seeking shelter in unison.

I stepped into the puddle of fire and turned it off. One by one, I returned to their original state even though I could not restore their lives.

"Thank you, guys. Your sacrifice is an honor for me."

Tap! Tap! Tap!

Footsteps began to sound and burst into the circle of soldiers. A man appeared out of breath, staring intently into my eyes.

"Wait! Hah! Hah! Hera, it's me, Timothy!" he said.

"Who let him in! Get rid of him quickly!" The fat orders.

Annoyed, I turned to him. "You really noisy!"

He fell silent.

"Hera, can I… erm… come with you?" Hesitantly and shuddering, he offered himself to come with me.

"What is the advantage for me following your request?" I asked.

Touching his chest, he said, "I know where the source of the magic is, and I won't complain if you end up getting rid of me someday."

His sincere words slipped from his thin lips as if he knew my purpose.

"Black Pearl, Lavanya?"

"Hera, he has magic," replied Black Pearl.

"Are you sure? In the end, this mission will come to him and make him—"

"Enough! I know! But at least, please, can we postpone it for a while!"

For the first time, I begged them for someone else's sake. My heart was really moved by that skinny straight-haired man.

"If so," said Lavanya.

"There is no more arguing between us," Black Pearl continued.

I happily smiled, and my eyes stung by it.

"Okay! And now it's time for the show to begin!"
