Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

Like a blur you'd see in a photo from a rushing object Tyson's shadow swept through the fog of dust that he'd thrown up. In Jake's eyes the man looked like a black and red shadow from his speed. With his teeth knit tightly together a deep growl could be heard. Tilting his head backwards he spat a ball of flame from his mouth that shot upward into the air. The ball was small at first but the further up it went the size grew until it was about the size of a basketball.

Boom!

Bursting apart in the air above them sparks of flame began to rain down all around. From the rain of fire Tyson had to swing his weapon in order to cut through the flames and keep from catching fire himself. He could feel the heat trying to cook him from the inside out as he could not guard himself from each little spark. Parts of his clothing were beginning to singe from the ones that managed to land on him.

"Tyson! Stop hiding you coward!" Jake called out loud as he kept his eyes on the rushing black and red blur of Tyson that seemed to keep rushing about the fog. Was he toying with him? Was he afraid? It was all things that sounded like a joke to him considering the man was suppose to be the number one survivor among the top ten.

"Who said I was hiding?" Tyson asked as his upper body emerged from the fog behind Jake. His cold steel blade quickly finding its way under Jake's chin as it pressed against the man's throat. Blood trickled down the steel from a cut that slowly opened from how roughly Tyson was pressing against him.

Realizing that his attention had simply been detoured from Tyson he could only faint a laugh. Fist slamming upward against the blade as his back slammed fiercely into Tyson's chest he sent the man stumbling backwards. While the man was finding his balance as quickly as he could Jake released a deafening roar from his throat. All of his frustrations put into his angry bellow caused the very ground below them to vibrate. His body launching forward with sword in hand while it's blazing fire engulfed the blade clear to it's hilt.

Regaining his posture Tyson could see the mad man rushing him but his instinctive was not to stand and simply await the impeding force before him. Gripping his weapon in his hand tight he headed for Jake head on. A vision of head on collision was what one would think when watching the two of them there. One man with long hair flying about the air while the other looked like a mad beast enshrouded in random bits of flame. The mere sight of it was enough to make Chi and Fae nervous from where they stood. Even though Fae had already silently handled the weaklings and had been watching Chi to ensure he did not get hurt by the flames. Being a vampire Fae had to be cautious of the fire.

"Tyson!" Chi called out without thinking. Wanting to take a step forward to warn Tyson to be careful he found himself being held back by Fae. There was nothing Chi would be able to do to help during a fight when he hadn't a bit of knowledge to even take care of himself.

Tyson could hear the sounds of the other two but nothing could pull his focus from what he was doing. As the space between the two of them diminished he could see Jake's blade cutting through the air straight for him. Bending back and to the side quickly he avoided the fiery steel as it came down. Planting itself against the ground the blade caused the grass below to burn away. The motion itself was enough to cause Jake's body to bend forward in Tyson's direction.

Taking the chance he had been given Tyson's foot smashed itself against Jake's hand. Wincing from the pain the hand almost lost its hold on the blade. He wanted to instinctively turn and swing at the man once more but instead his vision collided with the figure of Tyson jumping into the air straight for him. Reacting to dodge it was his initial plan but it was already too late for him. Tyson's foot had already landed hard onto his shoulder.

Tyson could see the man's head whipping around to look at him from the corner of his eye. He had ricocheted himself right off of Jake's body. Drifting threw the air backwards as he kept his eyes pinned on Jake he pulled back his arm. Seeing the sudden look of fear in the half dragon's eyes he almost wanted to hesitate but he knew the risks of letting the man go. Not willing to take the risk his arm swung down in the man's direction. Releasing his dual blade as it came down, the blade was sent flying in Jake's direction.

Shhnnkkk!

The sound of the steel blade piercing straight through Jake's heart could be heard. It had been a quick death as the blade struck it's target right on point. As much as the quick part of the death would soothe most, for Chi it was still something he could not stop himself from shuddering to see in front of him. Tyson's blade was still pierced through the body of the man while also holding up his corpse in place because it had also sunk into the ground below. If it was not for the blood draining from the wound he would look as if he was simply kneeling on the scorched earth.

Walking over to Jake's body and gripping hold of his weapon, Tyson removed the blade from him. The second the sword was removed his body fell down. Without the half dragon to control his own flames every bit of them began to dull away until nothing was left of them. Sweeping his eyes to the side he could see the blade that was once Jake's. Behind him the sounds of Chi releasing his earlier meal on the ground could be heard. Vomiting from the sight of something like what had just happened was something Tyson could understand but he knew that weakness was something that could get the man killed one day.

Thank you, and I'm sorry. Tyson thought to himself as he looked at Jake's lifeless form once more before reaching out and grasping that silver sword with his free hand. Holding it in his hand he made his way over to other two. When Chi's eyes met with his own pushed the silver blade against Chi's chest. Not a word was needed between the three of them to know that Tyson wanted the man to wield it. If Chi was to survive in Numen's Garden he was going to need to learn to survive. They could not always stand by and protect him so Tyson would ensure he learnt to at least wield the half dragon's silver blade.
