"God, I miss my bed!" Chi huffed while out of breath from all his running. Sweat was dripping from his face as he glanced around trying to determine which way Fae had taken.
The sounds of screaming as well as the sounds of laughter from the blood hungry among the crowd was filling the area. It was obvious that the deity Numen had brought both those with innocent hearts as well as those who simply enjoyed causing disasters to others. Scent of iron was thick in the air and filled their lungs as they tried to find somewhere safe to relax and get themselves pulled together. Ahead of them Fae and Chi could see a thin river that ran down from the mountain. Its water was clear and clean at a glance but Fae did not trust whether or not it truly was safe given where they were.
Chi's fluffy tan colored hair was beginning to stick to his face and it felt gross to him. He had a single long piece to his hair that he kept banded and pulled to the front over his shoulder in front. His blue eyes were focused on the water as he knelt down in front of it. His clothing was blue jeans, a purple hoodie, and his shirt was of bright pink in color that matched with the scarf he kept wrapped around himself. Among the people who showed up this year Chi was one who naturally stood out of a crowd due to his clothing and if they were to survive they'd have to be careful not to be so easily spotted. Everything about how he looked was something that did not clash with being able to hide themselves.
Fae on the hand had short black hair, a simple mask over his eyes, and his pants and jacket were both black in color that covered a maroon shirt. Naturally due to his clothing Fae would have a better chance at covering his tracks if he kept to himself and left Chi to fend for himself but upon their first meeting he had already sworn himself to helping Chi survive. His red eyes scanned the area for signs of others coming in their direction.
TING... TING... TING...
The slight sound of metal clashing against metal resounded in the air.
"That sounded close." Fae listened to the sounds in attempt to determine how close the noise was to them. As he grit his teeth together one could easily see the pair of fangs that protruded from his upper teeth. Fae was one that belonged to a vampire race in his world. He was very sensitive to the scent of blood and could tell that someone was being slaughtered not far from them. "Wait here.. I'm going to check around us for a clear path."
"What?" Chi's face jolted up slightly at those words when he heard he would be left alone. The thought of being left alone in this situation was something that made his entire body quiver. His reaction, however, did not stop Fae from walking off to check out the area they were in because he was in a hurry to get them both out safely.
As Chi knelt there by the river line by himself listening to the water trickling past him he sighed heavily. This kind of life style was not something that he was use to being around. He was from a decent family in his world and others naturally treated him with kindness. There was something about Chi that naturally gave off the aura that people who were around him always wanted to care for him and be kind. The number of people who did not treat Chi with kindness in his world he felt he could count on a single hand.
Thump.. Thump.. Thump..
The sound of footsteps were approaching slowly from behind. For a moment Chi thought Fae was coming back for him but something felt wrong. His blue eyes quickly turned to glance behind him to find a man standing tall in black leather behind him in silence. From what Chi could tell the man had long black hair with red ends. It was hard to tell what the man's face looked like because it was hidden behind a black demon mask that had several pointed parts to it. The mask was designed to make it seem as though the man had four red eyes but to Chi it felt like those eyes were false intended for trickery.
"Wh-Who?!" Chi stuttered out the question as he tried to determine whether or not to run. If he ran he felt like it would be harder to find Fae and if he screamed too loud it would only attract more people to his spot to target him.
"Inferior." The masked man spoke as he stared at Chi with unknown expression under that mask. It was like he was judging whether or not to put him down.
"What?" Chi asked as he tried to understand what he was talking about.
"Weak, fragile, decrepit-" The man started to speak out as he turned to walk away. His words causing Chi's brow to twitch at the insults that were spewing from the man's mouth about him.
"What the hell is your problem?!" He shouted out at the man causing him to stop in his tracks and stand there in silence for a moment.
The sounds of footsteps quickly approaching caught Chi's attention but he was so furious at the insults that he didn't turn his head. A hand suddenly clasped over his mouth to silence him. As he turned his eyes to see who was trying to keep him quiet his eyes connected with Fae's red gaze.
"Let's go." Fae whispered into Chi's ear as he pulled him to his feet. For a moment his gaze connected with the stranger's and they both stared blankly at each other as if they were evaluating each other's abilities. He could not get a clean understanding of the man but he could clearly smell the scent of blood from many coming from his clothing and dual sided sword. Blood was still trickling from the weapon from fresh kills and Fae's sense of smell was able to determine that the blood was fresh from a good number of people.
