"Hey, what are you doing here?" The womanly voice made her jump right back to reality. The woman might have wondered why she was staring at the moon.
"This is a private place you know... And I can tell you are not one of our guests" she added scanning Oceania from top to toe, the dress she was wearing, her empty feet, the red knees which seemed like they had been hurt, and the blood from her right hand. She looked at the lady who was now before her, she seemed in her thirties. Judging from how the lady looked at her, Oceania judged that she was not a good one. With the disgusted eyes which she was looking at her with, probably a judgemental one, and then her voice, it was rude. Oceania opened her mouth to speak but the woman beat her to it.
"From how you look I hope you didn't steal anything from anyone, you know, so what are you doing here or should I call security to deal with you?" The woman gave her mocking eyes and Ocaeanja could feel that she was landing in trouble.
"No, ..please don't do that... I'm, I'm looking for a job... I didn't mean to come here but I'm looking for a job... please" she said with a pleading voice. The woman looked at her and then clicked.
"Is this how you intend to look a job, dressed this way and at this time of the night?" she asked looking at her again with judgemental eyes. "You can't even afford a cheap pair of shoes, do you think this is an old factory? This is a beach resort, the most famous in the world, do you think we would like to employ someone like you? You stink of poverty, from the cheap dress you wearing to the fact that you have no shoes... You must be lost" she said wickedly.
She walked around Oceania, which was rooted in the same spot. "Do you have a certificate or any documents or an application letter? No don't even answer that, I'm sure you don't have them" she said now standing right in front of her. She was done looking at her all around. " I'm even curious about what kind of job you're looking for," she asked carving her lips.
"Can you cook?" she asked and Oceania nodded her head in refusal. She knew humans cooked but didn't know how that goes. The woman looked at her with questioning eyes.
"I don't know why I even asked you that..... what can you do then... Washing people's feet? Cleaning the floor, washing the dishes, doing laundry, security, compound keeper, waitress, receptionist? I'm sorry if you are thinking about those, then I'm sorry we have workers, so you may leave now..." she said in a low but rude voice.
"Please, I have nowhere to go madam... I can do anything, help me" she begged on her knees. She didn't know how she managed to do that but she had to. Considering that she was still feeling body pain and didn't know where else to go right now, she had to beg the woman to at least let her stay.
" I just told you that we have no job vacancy... You speak English so well and I'm wondering what part of the English I'm talking about you are not understanding?... You better leave before I make you" She said and turned around to leave. She made the first two steps and then turned to look at Oceania who was facing down.
"We have more than a hundred and fifty workers here, but I'm sure one more won't hurt..." she said and smiled. She then turned and continued walking.
"You don't expect me to carry you, do you?... You are lucky I'm in my best mood today..." she said without looking back.
Oceania didn't understand what the woman meant. But then she remembered that she had said that having one more would be hurt. Maybe she had decided otherwise. Grateful enough that she had gotten a place to spend the night she followed her behind.
" You can walk faster than that or are your legs broken?" The woman asked. The Way she was walking, was the fastest that she could do, she had even tried to walk faster but she couldn't. Hearing the woman say that she tried even more, her feet stung like she was stepping on needles but she had to pretend that she was not feeling anything. She tried to catch up with the woman but not entirely.
The resort was indeed a big one, only a few people were on the outside. The big swimming pool, and then another one and another one and another one. Do humans love water that much? The perfect corridors with flowers and flower beads, the super big parking lot, the multiple beach chairs, the beautiful umbrellas, and everything. The place was made of fancy things. She had to say that humans are so talented.
The inside of the hotel was just spending. She had thought that there were no people but she saw them. A lot of them were seated in the dining having meals and drinks and chatting happily. Others were moving up and down, others were on phone calls, and others were just doing nothing. Where they passed, they could only see the people but not near them.
She stopped when the woman stopped.
"You smell like fish and I hate how you look right now, an embarrassment, use the stairs here and meet me on the fourth floor, there's no way I'm letting you use the elevator, I don't want to scare our guests," she said and then then got inside the elevator.
She watched as the elevator closed. She had learned about elevators and stairs. She was sure that the woman was going to reach the fourth floor before her. She had to hurry and use the stairs easily. Funding the stairs wasn't that hard because they were just next to the lift.
Climbing them wasn't an easy task, considering how her legs felt but she managed to do it step by step, even though she was hurting. The heat on her wet increased as she ran up. Good thing that at the end of the second pair of stairs it was written the floor you were in. She did the first the second and then the third. She felt like she couldn't go on anymore. Thinking of her parent's death gave her some strength and she was able to tackle the rest. She found the lady standing there, from her looks, she was annoyed.
" I hate slow people... You must know I don't like being kept waiting." Those were the words that welcomed her.
