Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

In the middle of the night, I couldn't sleep as I slept in a dorm with one other person, Dal Hae Jin. I forgot how much he snored at night.

I look over to my right to see his bed pressed against the wall and recall that we never actually said a word to each other the entire year with shared a room. I know nothing about him. Other than the fact that he got arrested for stalking someone after graduation. I heard it was a misunderstanding though.

It was now 3 in the morning and with every hour that passed by the louder he had become like this was on purpose not to mention whoever stayed in the rooms around me was watching tv with the speakers blasting.

"You know what," I sit up out of the bed I was neatly tucked into grabbing a hold of one of the two pillows on my bed to chuck it across the room sending it flying until it hits Dal straight in the face. A thump filled the room and he blankly looked around as the pillow slid down his face when he sat up. He was completely in a daze looking around with crust keeping his eyes almost completely shut.

"What the freak man," he throws the pillow back my way but it flops to the floor. "Why'd you hit me?"

"I couldn't sleep," I flip on the lamplight that sat on a nightstand beside me as I could barely see, and squinting didn't help much. If anything it was giving me a headache.

"And you woke me up for that?"

"Yes your snoring is what is keeping me up," I swing my legs off my bed to face him, "If you can't sleep without snoring I suggest you stay awake." As soon as I finish talking laughter emerges. It was like what I said was the funniest thing he has ever heard before. His head was cocked back and tears were falling from his eyes.

"Your Kang right," he pulls the blanket off himself and stands up and my mouth drops open. He was so tall that his head almost touched the ceiling only missing it by a couple of inches. Not to mention he slept in his birthday suit, nothing but bare skin. He was no shrimp either having more muscles than I could ever have.

"Yeah, I'm Kang why?"

"My intention was to avoid you til the day that I died but you actually seem very funny," that explains why I have never seen him before other than the late nights he kept me up until I finally decided to just sleep in the library. But now looking at him he could be a good and useful friend to me. A bodyguard maybe?

"Let's be friends," he smiles with perfectly aligned teeth. Talk about photogenic. I stand up as well as I feel weird with him towering over me but it barely makes a difference as he was meant to be a tower and right as I went in to shake his hand I swat it away.

"Like hell, I'll be friends with someone that can't even respect my sleep," I look him up and down praying he wouldn't lift me up and chuck me across the room like I did that pillow a few minutes ago. And he didn't. He just laughed even more like I was some comedian.

"You're so funny," he playfully hits my shoulder and it took all my strength to keep me upright. It was like boulders falling down on me. I was on the verge of tears but I refused to let them fall.

The rest of the night I managed to get Dal back on his side of the room while he kept laughing at everything like a mad man. No wonder a lot of people found him to be creepy and weird. But honestly, he wasn't that bad of a guy. All he seemed to do was hang out at the gym, study, and work since he doesn't have any friends or let alone a good phone. Why the freak does he carry a pager around. What even is that and how does it work? I'm surprised I learned so much about him.

I regret staying up all night listening to him though.

"Hey Kang," it was now 12 in the afternoon and he was following me to class still talking like he couldn't see the bags that were drooping down my face that he caused. "Can I call you brother?"

"No"

"Would you prefer big brother or little brother you know because you are so small," I think he is confused I wasn't small he was just enormous. I was 6'0 on the dot if anything I was very tall. It's not my fault he is 7 feet.

"Kang is just fine," I reply and he continues behind me.

"Your name is Kang," someone with a very familiar voice stands in front of me and all I see is a pair of expensive shiny shoes. "You're the guy that bumped me the other day right?" I look up and remember his face it was that Jay say person from yesterday.

"No," I push by and Dal didn't say a word keeping his head down and walking behind me as if he was shy. Ain't no way a guy of his size is shy.

"No?" he continues grabbing my arm. "You should be sorry you were the reason I was late to an audition and almost didn't get the part."

"So you're saying you got the part congrats now leave," I rip my arm away and he looked as if he had more to say. I must have really hurt his ego if he is following me around like I'm the famous one. If he wants any of my time he needs to pay me. I'm still sad about those 3 hundred dollars I gave away so that I could have Jae for a week.

"Hey brother," Dal finally reopens his mouth as I approach my class. "Why were you so mean to my idol Hyeon Jang soo," was that his name?

"I wasn't and why are you following me don't you have classes to go to?"

"Yeah this is my class I sit all the way in the back alone so no one can see me but since I met you I was thinking I could sit with you," I shrug as a yes hoping that he wouldn't talk much. This history class had me in a headlock 8 years ago I doubt it would be any different.

I take a seat like usual and Dal sits in Tae's seat before he could even get there. It's really his fault for always being late to everything.

"Kang," I turn to my left thinking it was Tae calling my name to complain about his seat but it was Yoo Min Kyu. "Hey I'm Yoo min, nice to meet you," he offers his hand and I shake it though I felt strange about it. We had never been friends before.

"So Kang how do you know so many people," Yoo min begins talking as if he was interviewing me taking out a notebook to write in.

"I don't know many people," and again Dal goes silent as if he were a ghost hiding behind me as if he wasn't bigger than me.

"Then how do you know Hyeon Jang soo? I saw you talk to him a couple of times before would you say you guys are close," he looks down at his notepad waiting to write. He seemed to be very weird. Why would I be friends with him? He doesn't even look friendly.

"No he's annoying and if you ever talk to him tell him that I said to stop bothering me," and right, as I finish talking, in walks Tae and Yori. Their hair was messed up and their clothes were wrinkled and everywhere. It doesn't take a detective to figure anything out about those two.

"Can you get up," instead of Tae talking to Dal, the big guy he instead calls out Yoo min to move? He had a very intimidating look on his face so serious and straightforward it made me shake a little. If I was Yoo min I would have put Tae in his place but that's just me.

Yoo min gets up with no problems and walks away back to the front of the room as if nothing happened while Tae and Yori take a seat next to me. Quickly I face the board but not before looking them up and down noticing that they were in such a rush that Tae didn't even zip his pants back up.

"Hey Kang," he comes in for a hug like the overly touchy friend he was and wraps his arms around me. "I missed you at dinner last night I had to invite Yori instead." My eyes roll as I knew deep down he would have done that anyway.

"Kang hey," Yori waves at me smiling. Back in the day, I would have died to see her smile now she just irritates me, I really need to work on myself. "You should have been at dinner we had your favorite cheesecake," if me and Yori weren't friends I would have called her out of her name but luckily I'm nice. I fucking hate cheesecake that's Tae's favorite dessert mine has and always has been chocolate.

"Oh really I wish I could have made it too bad I have a life," did that come out wrong?

"It would be good for us three to hang out at lunch what do you think," Tae intervenes finally letting go of my neck and I couldn't help but smile. This is what I needed. I few extra guests wouldn't hurt either.
