Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

KANG POV

I wake to a new form of light introduced into my eyes as my face scrunches up and I reach for my blanket that had covered my lower half and instead feel a hand under mine. Immediately I pull my hand back towards my body sitting up on the bed and see Dal laying his head down on my bed.

"Hey, you're woke?" he says in a raspy voice as he just opens his eyes. "I'm so glad you are okay," he smiles before stretching back.

"What about the guy that brought me here? Where is he?"

"Oh, Jang Soo? He just left since class is about to start in an hour and he didn't want to be late. I'm just so happy that he picked up the call when I called you or I wouldn't have known you were here." he hops out of his sit right as the doctor with a clipboard comes in.

"Ah good you're awake," the man starts looking down at the scribbles written across his paper. "We did our best to stop the bleeding on your head but with the amount of blood that was reported to be lost it is a miracle that you are still here."

He really came in here and basically told me that I should be dead. 'Oh thanks, I feel better already,' I think to myself rolling my eyes.

"But you do have a very serious concussion so I would advise you to stay in the hospital for the next two weeks that is enough time for the wound to fully heal on your head and we can remove the bandages for you"

"Thanks but I think I would rather go to class today"

"Actually you are not allowed to go to class as we informed the school of your injury and therefore you won't be able to return until we release you for good health."

"I get he is doing his job but this is some bull shit and that fucking lady that made me fall to the ground in the first place, fuck her," my thoughts get jumbled up.

"Are you okay"

"Yeah- I'm fine," I plop back, there was no emotion on my face at all as I looked at the blank tv on the wall that needed to be turned on with my arms crossed. I needed to find out who I needed to call-

"And by the way, this paper fell out of your pocket back when you were wheeled into the hospital so here," the doctor hands me the paper and leaves. It had a number on it and read Mr. Sueng ha.

"Ooo is that a phone number I see," Dal's head comes peeking over my bedside right as I shove the paper into my pocket. I was lucky enough that I was not wearing a hospital gown as well. "Do you have a girlfriend," he asked as I look up at him while he stared down with his big puppy eyes full of curiosity.

"No," I push him away "I need to rest and you are too loud so go to class," sinking into the covers pulling over my head until I hear his feet walk in the opposite direction of my bed and out the door. Peeking out of the cover watching as the door closes behind him I pop back up and on the table next to me laid my phone. It was good enough to use but the whole screen was covered in cracks.

It looked completely beat up even when I lightly blew off the glass fragments that were left over before dialing up the number and immediately getting a response.

"Hello is this Mr. Seung Ha?" I ask holding the phone to my ear waiting for an answer. "This is Kang from the bar if you remember me"

"Ah Kang, yes I remember you," he answers as I hear papers flipping as he speaks, "Are you doing well?"

"Yes, I would say I'm doing well even though I'm in a hospital bed right now sir," I laugh expecting laughter back as I'm met with silence. "Hello?"

"Are you okay? What happened? Someone your age should not be having should issues"

"I"m fine sir I just fell and cracked open my head a little but the doctor said I would be fine so don't worry instead you should be worrying about your health. Have you stopped drinking so much sir?" I asked as he giggles like I said a joke without a response to the question.

"Which hospital are you in?"

"Umm," I look around until I find a bright green flyer of the hospital just laying on the floor beside my bed. It must have fallen off the table beside me when Dal was leaving the room. "I'm at Nafe Groph Hospital why-" the phone hangs up and I'm left with a beeping noise.

"What the-" I look down at my phone "Did he really hang up on me"

NARRATOR POV

Class begins and Dal makes it inside just before the professor could speak. His plan was to sit in the back away from everyone since the only person he felt comfortable enough talking to was out leaving him with strangers.

"Hey Dal," Tae waves him over. "Sit over here," he taps the seat next to him with Yuri agreeing with a smile for him to join.

"Umm," he looks around back at the secluded seat in the back then back at Tae and Yuri. "But I-"

"It's fine we're all friends now," and with those words, Dal sits down next to Tae with his legs and hands together staring at the board not moving a muscle. Very stiff. "So Dal-"

"Yes," he begins to sweat moving his chair in the opposite direction from Tae.

"Do you know where Kang is? He won't answer his phone and it doesn't look like he will be showing up for class either."

"He is in the hospital," Dal stutters. "He fell and hit his head pretty bad so he will be in the hospital for at least a week or two." Tae looks and Yuri and back at Dal. Tae's eyes had widened and his left hand was shaking a little.

"Hospital? Is he okay," the words spill out faster than Dal could take in. "We should visit him don't you think Yuri-"

"I just saw him this morning. He seemed fine but he told me to go to class that's why I'm here or I would be with him right now"

Dal said and Tae seemed to calm down taking a deep breath before grabbing a hold of Yuri's hand. She was a bit shaken as well since she was Kang's best friend as Dal watches the two hold hands.

KANG'S POV

"They really thought that I was gonna stay in a hospital for two weeks," I mumble to myself as I find a bag of my clothes sitting on the floor in the corner of the room. "I got a life too."

Throwing on some clothes and a beanie to cover the bandages on the top of my head before easing over towards the door and opening it.

"What are you doing?" I slam my face into someone's chest. He was wearing a black and white suit and stepping back I could see the shades on his face. He was like a bodyguard or maybe... a killer!

I step back inside slamming the door in his face and locking it just as I hear him pulling at the door.

"Kang what are you doing," a voice emerges. One that was familiar and a little raspy but comforting.

"Mr. Seung Ha? I peek my head out from behind my bed and stare at the door. "Is that you?"

"Yeah," I take a breath of relief before walking towards the door but right as I am about to open the door my face scrunches up from the embarrassment. I've been so paranoid since the beginning of things. I guess some things never change.

"Hey, Mr. Sueng Ha," I open the door and immediately get a light hit in the stomach by Mr. Seung Ha as he pushes himself inside.

"You tell me to take care of myself and yet you go and get put in the hospital how does that make sense," he turns to me with his hands on his hips. "You have many more days to live than me you need to look after yourself," he says taking a seat on the couch, "And don't even think about leaving this place before you are released. My bodyguards won't let you."

I sit back on the hospital bed throwing my beanie to the floor before looking over at Mr. Seung Ha on the couch. It reminded me of a time when I was only 6 when I got very sick and my parents brought me to the hospital and stayed with me on the couch until I got better. It was right before the accident too.

The thought brings a smile to my face and I don't remember when I fell asleep.
