KANG POV
I sit in a wooden chair, legs crossed and hands in my lap as my throat goes dry while looking around the office. I was in front of his desk but the many other desks around us were not comforting as it was barely a foot away meaning I could be heard by at least two other officers in the room.
"So kid, what were you talking about again?" the clicking of the pen and flipping of paper catch my attention. Detective Cho Han's eyes were glued to the paper ready to write whatever came out of my mouth, but my mind went blank. His glare raises from the paper leveling with me and all I could do was awkwardly smile at him while sweat rolled down my face.
I really should have thought this through. What exactly was I supposed to say to him "Well I reincarnated as my 18-year-old self after fighting the current serial killer and now I can identify his voice?" He will most definitely lock me up for wasting his time or worse- he could send me to a mental hospital.
"Kid," I hear the friction of his fingers as he snaps in my face. "Do you have information or not-"
"Umm...," I scratch the bottom of my chin looking up at the ceiling before his notebook comes crashing down onto the table. "Sorry I-," I look around. "Sir," he raises his eyebrows and I get my train of thought back. "The killer is only looking for women around the same age as himself," he looked puzzled at first ready to have the last word, but I continue, "Not only is he looking for women around his age group, but he is also looking for the ones that match a certain group of people- high-class pretty women. This might shock you, but he doesn't just kill women-"
"Kid what are you talking about," he interrupts, "Are we even talking about the same case here," he closes his notebook and meets me from around his desk. "Don't play like you know anything about this case," he bends down to meet me face to face. "Please leave before I arrest you for lying to the police."
"I'm not lying," I stand up pushing the sit back. "The cases before this were all men, yes? They were all skinny men that looked like they were barely making it through the day-"
"That is for another case," he says as my eyes roll. It was actually shocking how much I can remember from this time period.
"No it's not, he just changed who he targeted, if you don't believe me then you can look into it yourself but if he killed men before he will do it again along with changing what he targets now. Be careful," I finish up, and before he could say a word my phone rings.
"Hello"
"I heard you left the hospital," I remove the phone from my ear and look at the caller id, and smile. It was Mr. Seungha. It was 4 in the morning. I thought old people slept before this time.
"I'm fine I don't need to stay at the hospital," I laugh trying to walk away from the Detective's desk, but he grabs my arm. "I know the doctor said I need two weeks but honestly my head doesn't hurt anymore," I tap the back of my head and feel my eyes water as I hold back the pain in my voice.
"Your bodyguard, Adam will come to get you. Where are you?" I look around the police department and as I'm about to lie my phone gets snatched out of my hand.
"Hello, this is Detective Cho Han at the police department. This kid here was helping me with a very important case is there a problem?" I look at the Detective and a shiver runs down my back as he uses a very firm voice. "Oh, okay. I see- I will bring him back to the hospital at this very second. Thank you, sir." he hands me my phone back and Seungha hung up.
"Why didn't you tell me you had brain damage-"
"I don-"
"No wonder you were making up so many stories," he grins grabbing a hold of his keys on the desk before walking away as I follow. "You should really listen to your doctor," he says, "and take that hat off it's only going to add to the injury," he raises his hand to my head and lightly pulls my hat off. As he handed me my gray beanie, I could see it was stained with red on the inside, so my bandages had to have been red all over.
"See I told you," He glares, "Now I have to get you checked out- you could have reinjured yourself. Get in the car," he opens his truck door and climbs in and I do the same before he speeds off in the direction of the hospital.
β
I don't remember the hospital bed being so comfortable but as soon as I made it back my eyes began to close.
"Hey," the detective hits my leg and my eyes open. "You can't sleep until the doctor comes to check your wound," he says as I sigh pulling the cover-up on my body yawning. "I guess I will have to stay here until the doctor comes or you might end up in a coma or something," he says looking over at Adam and I snicker a little.
"Detective you don't have to stay," I say and his eyes became sharp.
"You really think I will listen to you," was all he said before sitting on the couch going through his phone like an old man in need of glasses.
"Mr. Kang," the door opens, and in walks the doctor holding a clipboard. "You did not tear any stitches but one was irritated and that's where the bleeding was coming from, but luckily it all stopped. Please stay in bed for now on as your head injury was pretty serious and could cause problems with memory, sight, and other things especially if reinjured in this fragile state," I nod and the doctor leaves the room.
"Well that's my cue," the Detective slips off the couch. "See you around kid," he says before leaving the room, and the only person left was Adam. I wish he would leave too. It's not like I'm going anywhere else tonight.
