KANG POV
I woke up with the sun beaming in my eyes from the window that was previously closed but now was wide open.
"Kang! You're awake," I barely had opened my eyes before Tae rushed in my face. "I was so worried."
"I'm fine," I push him back off my bed as I sat up. "The doctors here are just extra because I feel fine," I say as I found myself looking over at the couch to find it empty. Seung Ha must have left as I slept.
"Are you still afraid of hospitals," Yuri says standing behind Tae holding a gift basket and flowers. "If you need us to stay with you until you are released, we can," she smiles setting the basket down on the stand beside the bed.
"Yeah, me too"
"No," I say looking over at Dal standing in front of my bed. "You need to go to class. Honestly, all of you need to go to class. I'm fine."
"But the guy standing outside your door is so creepy"
"Guy?"
"Yeah, he is wearing a suit and shades and before we could come in, he made us pull out our IDs and show him," Tae rolls his eyes. "Who is he by the way"
Looking out the rectangular window of the room I could see the guy that came with Seung Ha, and I almost begin to laugh. I didn't think he was serious about having this guy watch me. "Oh, he is just someone to make sure I don't leave this building."
"Weird," Yuri mumbles, "Do you even know him?"
"Stop asking me questions?"
"Sorry"
After a while, the sun began to set and everyone that once crowded around me seemed to set off into the halls as visitation hours were over. Once again, I was bored. Reaching for the remote for a bit of background noise before I started to scroll through my phone. But as soon as the TV cut on, I was completely sucked into the news channel.
"There has been another death within the alleyways for the fifth time this week and the police have yet to find this serial killer. How could this happen in one of the safest states?"
"Another death?" I stare blankly at the Tv and feel my heart drop as I remember the words of the woman in white. I didn't save anyone I just gave the killer a new prey. And the police are no help. If they know the killer strikes at night, why aren't there more patrol cars out on the streets? I have to do everything myself.
I flip off the blanket that was covering my legs and pick up my beanie off the floor before putting it back on my head. I never actually put that ugly baby green hospital gown back on, so I was fully clothed except for my shoes that I squeezed on before checking the window to see if the guard was still there and he was.
There was only one other option if I wanted to leave tonight. The window. I was on the first floor of the building and opening the window was fairly easy as it just pushed open after you unlocked it from the lock at the top. I look back at the door making sure the guard wasn't watching then stick my foot out the window before hopping out landing on the grass and couple of flowers that were planted.
With a final look behind me I shut the window and walk away calmly dusting the grass off my backside before pretending nothing happened as I marched my way to the parking lot where tons of cars still sat all night long beaming in the light.
I couldn't seem to get the woman's words from my head as if it was my motivation that kept my legs moving forward through the streets trying to make it to the police station with no real reason intended. Something I would have to make up as I reached my destination.
"Hey young man, what are you here for," I walk through the automated doors and to the front desk where two men in uniforms and batches sat. One guy was completely knocked out with drool falling onto the arm he was laying on as the other down coffee and was bubbling up.
"Officer I was wondering if Detective Cho Han was in the office right now, I have some very important information for him," I say placing my hands on the desk and the officer looks over at his partner before staring at me. He reached for the phone that laid beside him before recalling his hand placing it back in its original spot like nothing happened.
"Detective Cho Han is very busy at the moment," he says looking all around the room before continuing, "If you would like to tell him anything you will either have to tell me and I will relay the message, or you will have to fill out a police report and I can get that out to him." I nod as he speaks but I know his intention. There are too many officers like him, very greedy and just want to know information in order to get promoted. I don't believe information given to him will ever see Detective Cho Han's hands.
"Oh well this is very important that I will have to tell him directly if you have his number, I could give him a call and leave a message for him to get back at it," he shakes his head as I talk throwing his tenth coffee into the bin behind him that was overflowing in cups. "Well, I will just come back next time," I turn to leave, and he calls after me.
"Just fill out a report and he will get back to you in 5 to 10 business days he remarks, and I scoff.
"No, I really can't do that sir," I leave out the door as soon as he stands to his feet. Swinging the door open without looking as I step out and bump into someone spilling their drink all over my clothes. It smelt like coffee and was warm when it seeped through my clothes.
"Watch where you're going kid," I hear a familiar voice and look up.
"No way," I say out loud, and it was like I was saying that in response of he was saying but I was just amazing to see him in person. It was Cho Han- Detective Cho Han in front of me. Someone that could actually be of help to the case with the crazy man.
"What?" he says, and I realize what I just said out loud. "I swear kids these days," he shakes his head pushing past me to get inside as I grab onto his arm.
"Wait, Detective I really need to talk to you," I say, and he stops for a bit. "I know something about the current case," I seemed to have piqued his interest, his eyebrows had raised, and his wet clothes seemed to not bother him anymore while he looked at me.
