Chapter 35 - Monster in a pond

How arrogant, the old woman thought. The kid was either underestimating their men or he's overestimating his abilities. In all aspects of the fight, even just one of the men could beat Caesar one on one. But with five of them, there was no way he would survive.

She quickly left the red room. They called it that since it would always be full of blood after every time someone tried to enter their black market without validation.

She walked towards the man who was casually leaning on his luxurious leatherback chair with his legs up on his red mahogany table. Their leader was as nonchalant as always.

"Aghhh…," the man sighed as he looked at the old woman. "Tell me Lisa, why are there always small fish trying to make it out big in our black market?"

"I don't know."

The man shook his head and looked at the thin stack of paper in his hands. At the top right was a quick sketch of Caesar's face, which was almost accurate if not for the fact that his smug smile was missing.

"Orphan, no affiliation. His orphan mate, was Rola her name, she's the only one he's connected with in this underworld business. She probably told him stories about the black market, and this guy got the idea to try his luck."

It was impressive how fast they were able to gather this information. It had not even been a few minutes since Caesar had knocked on their door, and they already got his background information.

However, it seemed that their info was a bit out of date as they did not know that Caesar had moved out of the orphanage and moved into a hundred-thousands-Parou house in one of the busiest parts of the town.

If they weren't discriminatory against Caesar and his background, then they would have spent more time in their research on him. They would have known he was worth 10 million Parou as of today and still growing.

"What's taking them so long? Is it that hard to beat the shit out of a feeble teenager?" the man asked.

"They must be taking out their frustrations on the kid. They haven't gotten work this past week," Lisa answered.

"Make sure he doesn't die. I don't want the church to have something against me. After that, throw him down the streets."

Lisa nodded and turned around to scold their men. But just as she was about to twist the doorknob open, it wiggled and opened by itself.

She was a bit startled and stepped back. How dare those hoodlums go into this room without knocking. Don't they know that their leader was here, she thought.

Her red angry face immediately turned white as soon as she smelled blood waft into her nose. Then, a man came out of the room. No, this wasn't a man—this was a teenager.

Caesar came inside the room, with his red blood still dripping from his knuckles. One could tell by the volume alone that this blood wasn't from his body. Lisa looked behind her and realized that the blood on his hands was from the five men lying on the ground behind him.

Lisa was terrified. She never expected this outcome, which was why she was caught unprepared. But then, she remembered that she needed to protect their leader. She immediately took out a whistle and put it on her mouth.

"Stop!"

She stopped herself just in time.

The man, the leader of the black market, looked at the teenager in front of him. He saw the calmness, the haughtiness in his eyes, the arrogance, and the confidence in his confidence.

Judging from his body, it would have been impossible to guess that he would single-handedly beat up 5 well-trained men until they were left lying on a pool of their own blood.

But there was one thing that the man noticed: the bling. His sharp and eyes that was trained through years in the black market accurately assessed the jewelry in Caesar's body.

10 million Parou.

That's right. The reason why Caesar was able to easily overpower 5 men was because he had 10 million Parou worth of items in his body. That meant he had a boost of +100 stats in his body.

[Caesar's status]

[Vitality: 25+100]

[Strength: 23+100]

[Dexterity: 24+100]

[Intelligence: 9,999]

Once he got the 10 million Parou profit from the day before, he quickly exchanged them for expensive jewelry. He knew he needed to be adequately prepared for when he visited the black market.

The five men in there had no chance at all. They all only had an average of 30 in all their stats. This was considered good, great even, but Caesar was just on a whole new other level.

The leader of the black market looked at Lisa and gave her a sharp look of confusion. It was like he was telepathically talking to her.

Lisa already knew what he was trying to say. 'Why didn't you tell me he was rich?'

Lisa shook her head. "He didn't have those jewelry on him when he introduced himself."

When the leader heard that, his heart started to pump harder. It was not because of nervousness, but because of excitement. There was a reason why Caesar didn't immediately show that he was rich.

Caesar wanted to have an explosive first impression. He wanted to show that he had the power to protect himself, and the power to protect his riches. It was like saying to his enemies 'try me.'

His cunningness was one thing, but his age was another. At only in his teens, Caesar was able to gather this much money and power, which the man guessed to be achieved using only his brain.

This kid was no mere small fish, he was a monster. If a fisherman tried to reel him in, he would instead pull the whole ship down to his lair and get all the benefits for himself.

Danger! His brain was telling him that involving himself with Caesar was filled with danger and risk. But instead of feeling the urge for flight, he instead looked forward to it with excitement. He didn't build this business by being afraid of a risky business.

"My name is Wexler Truman. Let me, the owner and founder of San Morino town's black market, offer a sincere apology."

Wexler bent his upper body completely flat, showing that his apology was genuine.

"As compensation for the trouble we have caused you, I hereby proclaim you to be one of the VIPs in this establishment. You will have free reign in the black market to sell anything you want without fees. You will be able to buy items at a very discounted price. And if you cannot find what you want, I will be willing to personally offer you my services to try and find what you are looking for."

After saying that, Wexler nodded at Lisa to bring out the exclusive VIP member card only a handful of people own.

Lisa offered the thin violet card with the black-market logo in the front. The emblem was a temple made of pillars inside a cave. She gave it to him with her head bent down.

Caesar smiled. "Coincidentally, I have something I need."

Wexler listened carefully.

"Miracle drugs."

Wexler was surprised at first, but quickly composed himself. "I will show you my personal collection. Patrons don't usually get to see our items. We only allow them to request a specific Miracle drug, and if we have it, then we sell it to them."

Wexler nudged a book in his bookshelf, and the whole wall started to move, showing a hidden door behind it.

"But for you, I will show you what I have."

Caesar followed Wexler and Lisa down the corridor and into a room that was sufficiently cold. Caesar could see his form into a cloud.

The walls of the room were filled with glass casings containing different colors of pills. The red velvet cushioning on the pills made it seem more expensive and luxurious.

"Only these replicas can be seen by our customers. Oh, let me explain…"

There were 3 classes of Miracle drugs according to Wexler. The first class was called Replicas. They were called that way because this type of Miracle drugs could have tens of thousands of duplicates all around the world.

"For example, our best-seller, Miracle Drug: Stone Body, has about 100 duplicates just here alone in this town. Just like its name, it increases a person's durability like stone."

Wexler took out a stone-like pill out of its casing and showed it to Caesar. There were ten more of this pill sitting side by side with each other on the casing.

The second class of Miracle drugs was called Original. These drugs only have hundreds to thousands of duplicates. Wexler showed the Original Miracle drugs in another room that was inaccessible to normal patrons.

The glass casings in this room were lesser than the room before. But, there were still plenty of Miracle drugs.

The third class was called Unique Miracle drugs.

"Those are so rare that some of those only have a handful of duplicates in the world," Wexler explained, stopping at the end of the Original Miracle drug room showcase.

"Unfortunately, the last Unique MD I had was sold just a few days ago to the Krabers. As you may have heard, they are currently at war with the Yunion."

Caesar nodded as he absorbed all this information. But Caesar knew that there was still one thing missing from those classes.

"What about the drugs that have no duplicates?"
