Chapter 10 - Who Do You Work For?

After getting their meals from the convenience store, Yang Ran and Alice returned to their hotel. Since the receptionist had let them stay without bothering about their identity, Yang Ran planned to stay for another night before she figured out what she was going to do next.

When they arrived at the hotel, the girls ate their food in silence. Both of them were still thinking of the footage they watched earlier and could not get the gruesome scene off their head.

Yang Ran did not have much appetite, but she still forced herself to eat more. She needed the energy to protect them both. They needed to survive and figure out what had happened.

"Rachel," Alice spoke as she put crumpled the paper in her hand. "There might be only the two of us now. What do you think we should do now?"

Yang Ran lowered the chopstick in her hand and swallowed the food in her mouth. "I'm not sure. Alice, do you want to take this chance to change your life? We could go to the countryside and live life like a normal person."

Alice seemed to be considering Yang Ran's idea. "I'd like that. I'm tired of running around. Let's stay in a quiet place. Then, when things had died down, we'll investigate what happened and take revenge for others."

A faint smile curled on her lips. "Then, let's pack up and leave. The sooner we leave, the better."

"But... do we have any money left?"

Yesterday, she spent a lot of money shopping for gadgets. If only she knew that this would happen, Alice would not spend her cash to buy those gadgets.

Now, she was broke and her equipment was all gone. She had wasted her money just like that.

"I have enough to let us survive," Yang Ran said. "When we arrive at the new place, we can get a job."

Alice nodded. She tidied up the place and was ready to leave anytime soon. They did not have much with them. It would be easier to buy what they need as they go.

"Where do you think we should settle down?" Alice asked.

"I don't know. Why don't you look up and decide?"

Alice grabbed her phone happily and nodded. "Alright."

As Yang Ran finished her meal and freshened up, Alice stayed on the bed to make her little research.

When Yang Ran came out of the bathroom again, she found that Alice was staring into the ceiling. "Have you made your decision?"

Alice sat up on the bed and nodded.

"Then, let's go."

"Rachel, I couldn't help but think of something," Alice spoke as she watched Yang Ran gathered their stuff. "Previously, we had never left altogether at the same time. This time, just because of Ed, the five of us came to this country. If more of us stayed in F Country, perhaps this tragedy would not happen."

Her movement halted. Yang Ran too had thought of the same thing previously.

She had suspected that they had fallen into a trap.

Someone knocked on the door, startling them. Yang Ran moved to grab her gun on the table and signaled Alice to hide.

"Let me look first," Alice said. She walked over to the door and gasped. When she turned to Yang Ran again, there was excitement in her eyes. "Rachel, it's Aiden!"

What?

Aiden is still alive?

That's right, last night, he had probably escaped after going to the restroom. Perhaps, he did not know what happened and returned to their room only to find that Bruce and Melvin were dead.

A deep frown appeared on Yang Ran's face.

Somehow, Yang Ran did not have a good feeling about this.

Before she could say anything, Alice had already moved to open the door for their friend.

"Aiden!" Alice greeted happily. Many of the people she knew were now dead. Therefore, Alice was especially happy to see Aiden.

However, this happiness did not stay for too long.

Alice was not given any time to react when Aiden took out his gun and put a bullet in her head.

The sound of the gun was deafening. Yang Ran watched as Alice slid down and fell to the floor. The girl's eyes were wide open and blood poured out from her head.

Instinctively, Yang Ran raised her gun and pointed it at Aiden. However, she was not quick enough. The man shot again and this time, Yang Ran's grip on the gun loosened before it fell to the ground.

Her hand was stinging in pain and blood dripped down from it.

"Don't move," Aiden warned. "One move and I can make you a disable person, Rachel."

Yang Ran held her bloodied hand as she tried to suppress her pain. However, she could not tell whether the pain was from being shot or from watching Alice die in front of her.

Her mind whirled. Yang Ran seemed to recall her last conversation with Alice. Then, a sudden realization came to her.

She had always thought that there was something wrong with their trip this time.

Now that she had realized it, Yang Ran could not hide her shock.

The person who had convinced everyone to go to this country together to capture Ed was Aiden.

Her eyes narrowed dangerously as she looked at the man in front of her. "Why do you do this?" Her voice trembled in anger. "Why do you kill everyone? Aiden, what's in it for you? Who do you work for?"

"You don't have to know these things," Aiden spoke. "But my employer wanted to know about the item that your father had left to you before he died."

"What?" Yang Ran could not hide her shock.

What does her deceased father have to do with this?

"We already checked the mansion. The thing that your father had left for you was not there," Aiden continued. "Tell me, where do you hide that thing?"

Her breathing turned heavy. Yang Ran was very sure that she did not know what Aiden was talking about.

What sort of item that her father had left for her? These people killed everyone in the organization for that one item. But what was it?
