Chapter 8 - Dismissal

After class, Ploy went out immediately and walked down the hallway. While walking, she looked outside and down as she noticed that the school guard had not let the students out yet.

Queued up, Ploy is getting a bit impatient as she wants to go home and sleep early.

She tried going down the stairways to check the back door but it had no way out.

In her desire to go home quickly, she thought of fitting under a passing delivery cart from the canteen.

She left her bag on the delivery guy's way before sneaking underneath. She managed to get a secure footing so when they started to move, she took the bag and carried it while hanging beneath the delivery cart.

She reached outside the school and soon realized that she's close to the delivery truck. Immediately, Ploy took off running as she watched the truck pass by.

One of her classmates noticed that Ploy wasn't in the queue and asked for her whereabouts in the class group chat. The class leader already tagged her to notify but she did not respond. Ploy noticed this and called Ann,

"Ann, tell them I went home already."

"What do you mean? But the rest of us are still here!" Ann said.

I got so embarrassed, I shouldn't have told her that! What am I going to do? I just thought that I needed to go home to get some rest as soon as possible. Suspiciously thinking that someone else would be listening, I lied to her,

"I'm in the bathroom."

"Wait! I thought I heard you say that you're already home?" Ann said softly.

"Did I say anything like that?", trying to avoid the question.

Ann said, "Are you lying?"

I replied, "Is this recorded?"

"Nope." Ann immediately said.

"Then how would you know if I'm lying? I don't feel well." trying to convince Ann to be out of the situation.

The class leader then said, "She's not well. Let's not force her to get out of the bathroom, it would stink outside."

Ann agreed, "Yeah, our class would probably be a laughing stock."

They ended the call and just then the guard had just started to permit the students to go outside. I rejoiced as I was miles ahead of them. I laughed hysterically, raised my arms in triumph and shouted, "I'm going home! See you losers!"

When I got home, the door was locked and it seemed that nobody was there. I kept waiting outside, I got hungry so I went to the market and grabbed some street foods.

I saw Anong talking with a guy wearing a helmet near the gadget's place while eating barbeque and soda in an ice bag, sipping on a plastic straw.

So I tried to sneak on them and peeked while they talked. I couldn't hear anything because of the noise from the vendors and people chatting.

I started to get hungry again so I bought a quick ramen. I didn't bring enough money, living in a strict, middle-class house – money is always calculated.

After eating, I went home and noticed that the door was already open. I think Anong got home already.

I was right, I saw mom hitting his head and yelling at him. I didn't want to be part of it so I went straight to my room to tidy up.
