Chereads / The Broken Magical System / Chapter 4 - Truth

Chapter 4 - Truth

"But you had a girlfriend..." Miss Lor said with a smile.

Mark gave him an odd look then spoke,

"had?"

this time Miss Christie flinched. she glared at him.

"well, you see the photo over there?"

she pointed at the photo stand. there was the photo of Miss Christie, with another girl.

"that's..." Mark was baffled by the looks. the girls looked like. just the other one looked a bit younger than Miss Christie.

"that's right she is Miss Christie's younger sister."

said, Miss Lor with a straight face.

Mark widened his eyes and glanced at Miss Christie.

"S-So did we break up?"

Mark stuttered.

*Gasp!

Miss Christie stood up and walked out of the room, slamming the door behind them.

"Shit! did I ask something personal?" Mark Asked in a whispering manner.

"Actually, about a month ago, you were on an expedition to the 7th floor of the abyss, with her. the last time you registered at the guild with another 3 party members for a mission. after that, you went missing and the Academy was in turmoil. the last adventurers went to the 7th floor and found your dead body and returned to the Academy. That's where you were kept until yesterday..."

Mark listened to her carefully, some terms, he heard before and some new...

"What is this Abyss?" after a while he asked.

Miss Lor looked at him helplessly and retrieved a map, from God knows where...

the map was properly graphical. and showed a few ranges and Valley.

"what's this spot?" Mark Pointed at the black marked zone over a vast land.

"This is the Abyss." Miss Lor said with excitement flashing in her tone.

"This is?" Mark became confused over the remark.

"This is an enormous pit, with no end. people say that this is connected to another dimension. but no one in history could manage to reach the 30th floor. last time, it was the principal of our academy who managed to go deep down to the 25th floor." Miss Lor said.

Mark looked more confused.

"why is that?" Mark's interest was piqued.

"it's because the deeper they went, the more dangerous it became, they would feel some weird force around them, and the creatures living there aren't friendly either." she breathed out and leaned her back on the couch.

"what creatures?" Mark asked again.

"oh.. give me a break. I will explain it to you later." she waved her hand and shut him down.

'it's a pity... such a beautiful girl was my girlfriend, and I couldn't protect her... sigh!'

"what's her name?" Mark asked.

"you mean your girlfriend? it's Emily," said Miss Lor.

Mark, hearing the term 'his girlfriend' felt a little cozy.

'if I could help her somehow... wait!!' suddenly Mark remembered something.

'hey, system! open the Radar'

<< ding >>

<< thee Radar in online, ownerless artifacts and relics in a radius of thousand meters, has been marked on the map. >>

'I can locate people too right?' he knew from the description about the features.

<< the system needs mana signatures for that. >>

'yes!' as he expected it was possible to locate people.

'what is this, mana signature?'

<< anything that comes into contact with mana, leaves behind residual mana. the host can gather mana signatures from personal weapons, armor, etc... >>

'I see, I see...' Mark nodded his head.

"what are you doing?" Miss noticed his weird behavior and asked.

"oh, it's nothing. by the way, can you help me get Emily's mana signature?"

he asked with a bright smile.

Miss Lor narrowed her eyes and made a weird expression, "what are you gonna do with it?"

Mark flinched and scratched his head. "some... research?"

she didn't inquire much and took out a sheathed dagger and handed him over.

"This is a tier 1 dagger, she used to have her early days... now you can go, I will think it over. don't tell Miss Christie about it."

after getting the dagger, he bowed and left the room.

as he opened the door his eyes fell on the corner of the corridor.

'there was someone...' he noticed a shadow but decided to ignore it.

Mark straight went to his room. he opened his Radar system panel.

<< mana signature detected. scanning the are..... >>

<< match found! >>

Hearing that Mark widened his eyes. he didn't have much confidence in finding her in the abyss.

'the system is too overpowered.'

he looked at the location, which pointed at the Abyss.

"at least she is alive..." Mark smiled. for some reason he felt relieved.

"well, in a sense she is my girlfriend, so it's natural..." he lay on the bed.

he didn't realize when he fell asleep when someone knocked on his door.

Mark was taking a nap, he quickly got up and opened the door.

"ah... Mark!" a young lady was waiting outside the door.

"yes?, what can I do for you?" he asked.

the lady looked flustered as she talk with him.

"umm... y-you're really Mark?" she asked and kept fighting her fingers.

Mark looked at her carefully, big glasses, hairs tied neatly, oversized clothes... the typical clumsy bookworm.

"Yes, that's me..." he said and scratched his head.

"Okay then!"

"!!!"

before Mark could understand anything, he instinctively moved his upper body to the left.

*Swoosh!

a beam of light shot from her palm and directly stuck to the wall.

Mark jumped back and got into a fighting stance.

the girl stood there without moving, staring at the ground. she slowly lifted her head showing a vicious and lustful smile.

"haah... amazing! you're definitely my Mark," she said as a green magical circle appeared around her right palm.

"Feel the warmth of the forest, receive my call O Lord!, come forth forest chains."

Mark stood there on his guard, wondering what nonsense is she spouting...

but within a second a big magic circle appeared beneath him. a lot of vines appeared beneath him and charged at him with a quick speed.

Thanks to his new super flexible and agile body, he managed to escape from the vines.

"Hey, you! stop this at once!" Mark shouted at the crazy girl, who was smiling like a pervert.

"Ara, the fun has just begun." as she said that the vines stretched and attacked him.

Without a sword, he couldn't even perform his sword art, so all he could do is to dodge.

"Stop this! don't force me," Mark said with a straight face.

she still smiled lewdly looking at him. "Ara, angry are we? without your sword, you're nothing baby."

she said and moved her hands. she was controlling the vines, with her hands.

he has still confidence in his strength if he somehow managed to get close to her he can finish this drama.

"I warned you!" finding a gap Mark Leaped upwards until his head touched the ceiling and with a back kick on the wall, he dashed at her with a terrifying speed.

"!!" before she could react,

*swish!

his fist appeared before his face. she closed his eyes instinctively.

"umm..." she slowly opened her eyes.

she looked up to Mark, who was standing there with a frown.

she smiled and jumped on him.

"Woah!" Mark grabbed her waist as she wrapped her hands around his neck.

"hehe... it's really you." *chu *

she said and kissed him on his cheek.

Mark blushed and let go of her hug.

after he let go of her, she smiled, this time with a bright and beautiful smile.
