Just as the werewolf's claws were about to strike Gretta, Leon appeared, drew him back, and confronted him.
"I'm the one you're looking for, not her," he explained.
Leon allowing Gretta to return home alone didn't mean he truly let her go. Leon had been following Gretta from behind since their first meeting. Ensure that the girl returns safely.
Leon was still behind Gretta, hiding among the trees and bushes, fifteen minutes ago. But, as if something bothered him, Gretta vanished from view. When the girl called his name, Leon realized she was being attacked.
Gretta stood up and hid behind a tree far enough away to avoid being hit by Leon and the man's fight.
"Math, it's been a while. Your cold nose is looking for me, so hurry up."
"The smell of your body's secretions is one of the easiest to detect; you've turned into a damned werewolf, Leon."
Leon gave a faint smile in response to his opponent's speech. How quickly a friend can become an enemy, and how quickly the closest army can become the most dangerous enemy.
Math is one of Leon's Alpha squad coworkers. Rhys' baseless slander managed to tear them apart.
"Turn yourself in before I force you to kneel for Orlin," Math threatened. His hatred and dislike for Leon filled his gaze.
"That won't be fun, catch it if you can," Leon challenged. He dashed into the woods, begging Math to pursue him and keep him away from Gretta. A fight between werewolves could destroy five to twenty meters of their alleged ring.
Math grabbed Leon's leg, dragged him, and slammed the man's body against the log. Leon, who was still in his human form, felt a stinging pain in his back.
"Stand up and show your true face, are you concerned about the human who is watching from a distance?" Math chuckled mockingly. Leon is well aware that Math, the man, is one of the werewolves who are sensitive to humans. He despises human beings.
Leon took the initiative and launched his attack first. Math is pummeled in the face with a few quick punches. Leon didn't give Math a chance and hit him in the head with his back kick just as he was about to turn his head back.
Not powerful enough to be fatal to Math. He took a step back and attacked Leon again. Leon dodges the punch and throws one at the man. The blow hit the tree trunk behind Leon, causing the tree to shake and the trunk to crack from Math's punch.
Math pursued Leon relentlessly, delivering multiple blows to the man. Not everything he could avoid, several hits landed on him and stinged Leon.
Used his ability to kick Math's body back a few steps and nearly fall to transform into his true form as a werewolf.
Leon drew his claws to attack Math, and vice versa. Their fight heated up when Leon managed to injure Math, leaving three long scratches on his face.
Leon's pursuit of Math did not end there. He was mercilessly beaten. When the man tried to flee, Leon yanked him hard and punched Math in the face.
The man was thrown quite far due to Leon's maximum strength, but he wasn't the only one injured; Leon also collapsed to the ground due to the long-lasting gunshot wounds on his body.
Gretta hugged her body silently behind a tree, not daring to show herself. She didn't even look, her trembling body pressed against the tree roots.
But, unfortunately for the girl, Math was thrown right at her. She noticed the werewolf wincing in pain beside her.
"Hello, sweet girl," Math said as soon as he noticed Gretta.
Gretta, who had been covering her mouth with her hands for quite some time, couldn't help but look surprised.
Math pulled quickly, making the girl wince in pain as her hand was pulled and scratched by Math's nails.
"Does this cute girl resemble Elisabeth? Is that why you followed her through the woods?" Gretta's hand was pulled so high that she had to tiptoe.
Gretta pressed her hand against the friction, injuring the skin on her wrist.
"Let me go!" she yelled, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Leon stood up and moved his endarthrosis-ball joint. Gretta had the same face as Elisabeth out of context; she was a good girl who had done nothing wrong.
She didn't even know anything about Orlin and her problems, so why was she dragged into their fight? Leon hated it.
"Math, let him go. Find a balanced opponent for you." Leon stated coldly.
Math ignored Leon's words and continued to hold the crying Gretta in his arms.
He made a mistake by inviting Leon's wrath.
Leon moved like a shadow to attack Math. The man's first attempt was successful, but his second was not. A powerful blow to the head forced him to kneel and let Gretta go.
Leon grabbed Math's head with his left hand and dragged it five meters away before stepping on Math's head.
Math's resistance freed his head, but not his face, as soon as he rose from the ground. When Leon punched it, he staggered back.
If you have faced Leon's rage, there will be no mercy. Math was aware of this, so when Leon's claws gripped his neck, he simply laughed. His body was already cornered behind a tree; one move from Leon and he'd be dead right there.
"You're going to kill me now?" Math chuckled. "That stupid man who relies solely on bloodlines will not be able to fight you without me," he added.
Leon gave him a hard stare.
"We'll have to meet up another time, Leon." Math returned Leon's gaze wistfully, then looked at Gretta. "In any case, your girl is fine," he said, pointing to Gretta with his chin.
Leon let go of the man, freeing him. "We're done," Leon declared.
It didn't take Math long to leave the place. He needed to get back to Orlin right away. He gave a crooked smile before disappearing into the distance.
Leon quickly approached Gretta. Math's brutal grip on the girl's wrist severely injured her forearm.
Leon first comforted the girl and got her to stop crying before bandaging Gretta's wound with a corner of his shirt.
Leon decided to take Gretta to the border as a result of the incident. There's no guarantee that Math has left that location; it could be resting somewhere and will return.
Gretta in the back grabbed the hem of Leon's shirt as he walked in front. She was afraid of being pulled from behind, but she was also afraid of being caught if she walked in front.
As the sun set, Gretta became concerned that Leon would revert to his werewolf form in front of her. Fortunately, the city light was barely visible from where they were.
With a cheerful smile Gretta was walking ahead of Leon. The man could only observe how happy the girl was to be back in her hometown.
Leon was unable to get any closer. He had to return to the middle of the forest so close to sunset. Gretta would leave with a final promise not to tell anyone about Leon and to forget what she had seen before.
