"Do I really have to be carried?" Clarissa asked me.
I nodded slowly at her and replied, "I will run at a high speed, it is impossible for you to run at my speed. Therefore, the only way is to let me carry you."
"Leon, can't I just wait at your hideout?" Clarissa seemed hesitant to climb onto my back. I understand her feelings. It must feel strange to ride on a stranger's back. Especially half beast like me.
"Of course you could wait at my hideout but, is that what you want? Didn't you want to see your brother and Kevin in person? My hideout isn't as safe as you think. Someone might find it at any time. It's not safe for you to hide and waiting me in my hideout."
My persuasion managed to seduce her. Clarissa finally nodded in resignation. She slowly climbed onto my back. After that She hooked her hands around my neck. After confirming that she was ready, I then ran.
Kale had kept her promise. Several people had already searched for Kevin and Clarissa's brother in Zwein and Tenbu's territory. Clarissa and I will go to Tenbu's territory first before going to Zwein's territory. Meanwhile, Kale was going to Zwein first.
We both need to make sure Kevin and Clarissa's Brother were doing well. As I was running suddenly my instincts flared violently. I reflexively ran away from the source of the warning which caused my instincts to on.
"Leon! What happened? Why did we change direction?" Clarissa shouted, surprised by my actions.
All my senses were sharper than ordinary humans. Clearly Clarissa couldn't hear what I was hearing. I could clearly hear the footsteps of tens or hundreds of people. Without a doubt a group of people came out of the Tenbu settlement. Did they head to the gathering place that Mr. Black Rat had told them about? However, the direction was a bit wrong.
"I sense something dangerous from over there. We'd better take a detour."
I continued running without lowering my guard. After a while I finally arrived at the settlement under Lord Tenbu's rule. I saw that there was no one guarding the gate. I then entered inside the gate easily.
Shortly after entering the entrance gate, I saw someone coming out of a house. I immediately ran towards him intending to attack him.
The half beast I was about to attack immediately shouted, "Wait, I'm Kale's friend. I'm here to help you!"
His screams immediately stopped me. With my strength, it's easy for me to defeat him at any time. Because it, better for me to believe him.
"Then do you have any information regarding Clarissa's brother?"
"One of my friends gave the signal earlier. I previously told him that we will signal each other, when someone has obtained information about the little human you are looking for."
Clarissa who heard it immediately shouted happily, "Where is he? Did he really find my brother?"
"I'll take you there. But I can't guarantee if my friend found your brother or just got information about him."
"It's okay, as long as it brings me closer to my brother then it's a good thing."
After the conversation, Kale's friend, who introduced himself as Han led us to another of his friends who found information about Clarissa's brother.
After running for a while, we finally arrived at the location. Han led us to a hidden warehouse that looked a bit rundown. I put Clarissa down, we then entered the warehouse together. Inside the barn, I saw a half-beast strapping another half-animal to a chair.
"Quint, you turned on the signal, did you find any valuable information regarding this little boy whereabouts?" Han asked the half beast that tied the other half beast.
Quint nodded, he looked at me then at Clarissa. "Welcome Leon, and also Clarissa, if I'm not mistaken? Regarding the information Kale requested, I have investigated the area and I got information regarding someone who found a human child a few days ago."
Quint then pointed at the half beast tied to the chair. Half the beast had a cloth covering its eyes and mouth. He had the form of a werewolf.
I approached and pulled the cloth that covering his mouth.
"Damn it! I don't know who you are, but you'd better let me go. I'm Mr. Tenbu's chief, if he finds out you hurt me then your lives will end!"
Hearing the chief words, Clarissa suddenly became angry. She immediately approached the werewolf and grabbed his collar.
"Where is my brother?! Tell me where is my damn brother! Where are you hiding my brother! Tell me quickly!" I pulled Clarissa back slowly.
"Little brother? Ah, the same human smell. Hmm, I understand you must be a human with a horde of traitors that came from outside the barrier. Your brother is dead. He's a good ingredient."
Clarissa who heard that immediately roared angrily, "Vincent! Vincent couldn't be dead! Give him back to me, you bastard! I'll kill you!"
I tightened my grip on Clarissa. Likewise, I could sense that this werewolf was lying. His heartbeat and breathing indicated that he was lying.
"Calm down Clarissa, I'm sure he's lying. Han, take Clarissa out first. Let me interrogate this man."
Han and Quint then took the angry Clarissa out of the warehouse. There's a special reason why I want Clarissa out of the barn. Unlike the half beasts in the barrier, I'm sure she won't get used to blood and violence that's too sadistic.
"Hehehe, you want to interrogate me? Better forget it, I'm known as Trout the secret keeper."
"Is that true?"
I didn't like to use violence. I didn't like using this power that I got. But I know that I need to use it to take care of some things. As much as possible I didn't want to hurt innocent people. But the half beast in front of me, was not in to the category of innocence.
Moments later, a painful scream immediately filled the warehouse. Slowly blood stained the walls of the warehouse, the vibration from the chair was so intense it was as if the werewolf in front of me couldn't stay still for a moment. After a few minutes, I finally heard everything I needed to hear.
I wiped some of the blood splattered down my face and body. I then walked out of the warehouse. As I exit the warehouse, Quint looks at me in awe, while Han looks at me with doubt mixed with fear, while Clarissa, looks at me with fear and horror. But she seemed to be trying to hide those feelings.
"The good news is that your brother is still alive. The bad news is that he's currently in the Black Rat Lord's fortress. Right now, the fort is in a state of war. No, to be precise, the entire barrier is being ravaged by war."
Given the somewhat strange direction of the Tenbu troops, I should have guessed that war had broken out. It's getting harder, Kevin was also likely to be in the middle of a war.
"Thank you."
Although still stricken with fear, Clarissa forced herself to thank me.
I'm not a righteous person, even so, I didn't want to lose the morals that always guide me.
