Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Jane's Misconduct. (b)

Linda resumed at work very early on Monday. The limousine from the palace had dropped her up early that morning.

Her intention after events of weekend in the palace was to visit her parents home to intimate them of the new development on the wedding preparation.

Six months ago, the King had sent the Queen, the Chiefs with the Prince to visit Linda's parents shortly after the Prince declared his intention of love and marriage for Linda. They had gone with gifts from the King to Linda's parents. It was a simple and colourful event for the two families to know each other.

Linda had finished her work for the day. She was walking down to join the chartered vehicle to her parents home, when all of a sudden Jane came from nowhere to draw Linda back with her hand.

"Hey! I warned you to leave my fiance alone, you refused. It is because of you the Prince left me. You fiance snatcher. As soon as you resumed work in the palace, that was when he started developing coldness for me. You snatched him from me."Leave my fiance for me. She held Linda hand while talking and shouting on her without letting her move an inch. It was an embarrassing moment for Linda.

People passing by were gathered on them looking at the scene Jane displayed that evening.

Linda just remained calm. She did not utter any derogatory words in exchange with Jane but just told her to leave her hand.

It took about 15-20 minutes of intense aggression and vexation of anger from Jane.

She poured out all the annoying words about Linda before she finally released her hand.

Immediately, Linda walks quickly away from the spot to join the waiting vehicle some distance away.

In the vehicle, she breaths heavily for some time before she regain strength. Madam, hope no problem, the driver inquired. Where were you while I was being harrassed by a lady down there? I'm sorry. I was held in traffic. Is it the same lady you complained of the other time, the driver asked. Yes, the same lady. She's harrassing my life.

Please take me to my parents' house. Okay, madam.

Right in the vehicle, she thought of reporting the matter to the Prince immediately. That's right thing to do. It's becoming an assault. She held my hand. "Who know her next move?"

She dialled the Prince's cell phone number. Hello Linda, how are you? "I am not fine. I'm terrified."

"Ho, why are you sounding like that, Linda," the Prince asked surprisingly.

It is Jane again. She came after me today. The harrassment is becoming assault. She held my hand while she was pouring abusive words on me.

"People passing by had to gather watching us. This is becoming too much for me," Linda reiterated. "Oh, I'm very sorry about this. Where are you right now?" I'm heading towards my parents' home. From there I will be going back home.

Okay, I will talk to you much later in the evening. Please take care of yourself. I will, Linda said putting off the call.

"Good evening dad," Linda greeted her dad in their sitting room. "How are you daughter?" Her dad requested. "I am fine dad. Where is mum?" She's in the kitchen. Okay, let me meet her there, Linda stood up from where she sat to meet her mummy in the kitchen.

Mum good evening. Oh, my daughter, how are you? How is work? And your fiance, hope you are hearing from him? Yes ma. I, even have news from him for you and dad on our wedding arrangement. Let finish up in the kitchen so, we can discuss. Okay, Linda, her mum concurred as they both continue cooking.

After they had finished eating, Linda told her parents the new developments as related to the wedding arrangement. She told them of the activities of the wedding committee and the work already achieved by the group. She then asked for the list of their invitees. She was asked to come back in a week for the list.

Meanwhile, before she left her parents that evening for her apartment, her mum noticed she was looking troubled. Linda is anything troubling you, you looked worried as I saw you in the kitchen.

I thought I should asked immediately after the dinner. But you are more concerned with the wedding arrangement which is equally good. I didn't want to interrupt you while you are talking. Tell me, my daughter, what is the problem, her mum asked probingly.

Is there anything troubling you, Linda, her dad inquired too. Dad, mum, I had wanted to keep the matter to myself. I know the Prince will handle it. But since you have asked I will tell you.

Before I met Prince, he was dating a lady called Jane. He left the lady because of her attitude. But the same lady has not change. She's now harrassing me about. She claimed I snatched her fiance from her.

She had embarrassed me on three occasions in which I did not utter any word in return. Oh, my daughter that is very good of you. Please don't fight or harrass her back. Let the king's family address the matter, her mum advised. Please try as much as possible to avoid her wherever you see her, her dad also encouraged. If the king's family is not doing anything and she harrasses or assaults you again, I will have to get the police involve in the matter, her dad added.

I have told Prince what she did as I was coming over to see you. And I'm positive Prince will act. On the last two confrontation, it was just vexation of anger which I also pity her for losing out.

I like Prince when I saw him on my arrival at the palace and when I also realized he had a fiancee, I quickly put off my mind from having any relationship with him. But circumstance brought us together. I did not ask Prince to leave her. He left her because of her bad behaviour to people which she's still displaying.

The confrontation of this evening is becoming an assault as she held my hand while she was vexing her anger at me. Who knows her next moves? Linda explained.

If the king's family is not doing anything, I will personally take up the matter. I will report her to the Police, her dad re-emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Prince had reported the matter to the Police head. She was picked up for interrogation the following morning. While she was being interrogated, she denied ever harrassing or assaulting Linda in anyway. She claimed they knew each other in the palace and that the three consecutive times they met, they only exchanged pleasantry and nothing like harrassment ever occurred. She denied outrightly.

The Police investigating team however released her on the ground that the Prince had instructed that she should be informed to keep her distance from Linda. He wouldn't like to press any charges against her. She's his ex-fiancee and wouldn't want to treat his ex-fiancee badly. If not for her bad attitude and hot temper, he wouldn't be in another relationship now.

When Jane was released that afternoon with the warning instruction from King's family that they won't press any charges against her now but that she should keep her distance from Linda. She knew it was the Prince that instructed the investigating team to release her. She knew the Police team would have taken the case to court as all evident shown clearly she was lying about not harrassing Linda. And even nearly assaulting her. But they decided not to press any charges against her.

She became sober on her release knowing that it was the Prince that press for her release. She realized the Prince still have some soft spot for her. She needs to work on her behaviour and temper, she concluded.

Her parents are currently displeased with her for her role in the break up with the Prince. They knew it's her fault. It would have been disastrous if the King's family had pressed charges against her for harrassment and assault of Linda, the new fiancee of the Prince.

She knew her parents would have been devastated if she had been taken to court or sent to prison. As she returns to her office in the university, she sat quietly thinking on how she needs to remould her terrible life.

For the rest of the week, Linda experience the kind of peace she had been enjoying before Jane surfaced and started troubling her humble life. She resumes and closes from work and walks down to join her chartered vehicle without any harrassment or assault from anybody again. She knew the Prince had gotten across to Jane. Or what could have stopped her from her irresponsible acts. Anyway, the good thing is she's now in her good frame of mind, Linda thought.

It is Friday, the limousine is parked in the front of their company premises waiting for her. They arrived the palace some minutes later. She was assisted by Dan who pulled her bag to the Prince apartment door. She is in high spirit and very delighted as the guard opens the door.

Linda how are you? Prince said as he hugged her. I am fine my Prince. I am happy again. No harrassment again. They laughed as they sit together on the long cushion chair in the sitting room. She had come to her senses, I believed, the Prince whispered. I think so too, Linda said smiling. We need to celebrate this.

Amanda, please bring juice drink for us, the Prince ordered. Let me keep my bag in my room. No, Amanda will do that, the Prince advised. Just to drop my bag in the room is not a tedious work, I will be back shortly, Linda said dragging her bag to her room. If you insist on doing it yourself, no problem, my love, Prince said encouraging her.

Amanda had dropped the juice with two glass cups and was returning to the kitchen when Linda comes out of her room.

"Amanda, how are you?" Linda asked sounding friendly. "I'm fine, ma." "You are welcome." "I hope you bring gift for me," Amanda asked. "Yes, Amanda, Plenty of gifts." They both laughed.
