Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Philanthropist

Prince and Linda were drinking and watching movies when he called her attention to her wedding gown. Your gown was brought yesterday. It's in your wardrobe.

Oh! Thank God. Please let me go and check how it fit on me. You know you shouldn't see me wear it until on wedding day. They laughed. What a superstitious beliefs. Anyway I'm not eager to see the dress on you now, not until the wedding day. No problem. I will wait, the Prince chuckled.

Linda rushed to the room and came back some few minutes later. It is my perfect match. I like the gown. It look gorgeous on me, she said as she sat beside the Prince.

The dinner is served, Amanda called their attention to the dinning table. Okay, we would be there shortly, Linda responded.

I'm leaving to my room, Amanda said to Linda expecting something from her. Yes, I remember. I will see you in the morning, Linda said smiling at her.

After they had finished eating, Prince briefed Linda about the new achievement of the wedding committee. The committee head met with me yesterday. He informed me that food items and drinks for wedding reception has been purchased. He also said a cook had been contacted to handle the cooking and guests refreshment at the wedding reception party.

All preparations are fully in top streams for the wedding day, the Prince said smiling. I am glad the wedding committee are very zealous about their assignment, Linda chuckled.

Good morning, ma, Amanda greeted Linda as she was taken bottle of water from the fridge. "Good morning, Amanda. Please when you are done with what you are doing, come to my room to pick the things I have for you." "Oh, thank you ma. I will come over as soon as I served the food," Amanda said smiling.

Some minutes later, she had finished in the kitchen. She knocked at Linda's door. "Come in Amanda," Linda said at the sound of the knock. She opens the door and enters into the room. "How are you Amanda?" Linda asked as she approached. "I am fine, ma," she answered still smiling. "Please have these clothes, I got them within the week from a boutique." "I hope they would size you." "They should because they have elastic fabric materials in them," Linda said handing over the colourful dresses to Amanda. "Thank you ma." "I love them." "They are beautiful." "Just the kind of dresses I like." "I will put them on and let you know how they fit on me." "Thank you ma," she said as she walks away excited.

Linda freshen up and dressed in a pink gown then joined the Prince in the sitting room. "Please let have our breakfast. I'm famished," the Prince said. "Okay, I'm ready too." They left the sitting room for the dinning table.

The breakfast served were doughnuts, scotch eggs, fresh vegetable salad and fruit juice. After the breakfast, the Prince reveals his plans for the day to Linda.

"I will like us to visit some places together today if you don't mind, Linda," the Prince said waiting for her response. "Oh, I don't mind." "I would like to accompany you to anywhere you want to visit today." "And I would be able to see the city this Saturday." You know I haven't gone out on a Saturday to visit the city centre in a long while, Linda chuckled. "Yeah, we spent the weekend mostly in the palace." "You are right, Linda." "I will try to ensure we visit places whenever you are around," the Prince assured her.

Meanwhile, these are the places we are visiting today. I want us to visit the beach. I want us to relax by the beach shore for some hours before heading for the boutique. I want to pick some new dresses for myself. And I intend to buy you some dresses too. "Oh! I love that." "Which store are we going to?" Linda inquired. "Point store." Prince responded. Oh, they have best collection of male and female dresses, Linda said smiling. "At least, ten beautiful different set of dresses would not be bad for my Princess," Prince chuckled.

"Oh, my goodness ten set of dresses for only me," Linda asked surprisingly. "And some beautiful ladies' leather shoes, say, five pair of leather shoes," the Prince added. Thank you, my Prince, Linda said as she hugged the Prince.

"We would also pick some gift items for Akims Orphanage Home, which we would drop along with a cheque donation of one hundred thousand dollars," the Prince stated. Today's outing is going to be exciting. I'm thrilled already, Linda said as she excussed herself to get set for the trip.

She came back few minutes later gorgeously dressed. She dressed in blue gown with a pair of solid low hill leather shoe. Her nicklace and ear ring are twenty carat gold jewels. Can we proceed? She asked the Prince who already is waiting for them to join the waiting motorcade outside.

Outside the Prince apartment, there are two jeeps escort vehicles and the limousine car parked waiting for them. The back doors of the limousine were opened by the guards for Linda and the other side for the Prince.

The escort vehicle lead the way while the limousine followed. The second escort tailed them behind.

The motorcade moved straight to the beach through a wide express way. The journey was not long. In another thirty minutes, they were in the beach shores.

Reservation had been made for the Prince under a canopy close to the beach shores. So we walked to the tent and sat facing the sea.

Some fruit juice in cans and bottled wine were brought and kept on the table for us. The guards about six of them stand at distance from us keeping people away from where we sat.

"Hey, Linda, do you know I love visiting the beach." "The sight of the sea thrilled me." "I love to just sit and watch the sea waves flow up and down." The length and the width of the sea. The fact that the far end of the length of it look like it's touching the light blue sky. I love the sight of it. "It makes me relax," the Prince emphasized.

"I can see that." "You looked relax," Linda said. "I visited the beach twice when I was in the university." My second and fourth year end of semester parties were done here. We partied from 10am till 4pm here in the beach on the two occasions. It was fun back then.

I never knew I would be back with the Prince to this spot, Linda said smiling. That's life for you, the Prince said supporting her comment.

"Please let take some wine." "It is non-alcoholic," the Prince said. "Yes, I will like some too, if it is not alcoholic," Linda concurred.

We take some sip of the wine and the Prince continues his conversation. "Do you remember, it is this same beach the six wolves that invaded the city nearly killed tourists from." "Yes, I remember." "I heard they killed many tourists that day." "Who told you that?" The three defenders stopped them. And when they proceeded to the city centre, they were also crushed.

"Where were you back then? Are you not in town," the Prince asked jokingly. I was in school then. And that was the news that spread across the campus back then, Linda re-affirmed.

That's a blunt lie. We did not record any casualty. The super heroes defended the city without letting the flying wolves shed any blood. The record is still with the Police intelligence team. "That's what we always pray for." "No casualty," Linda said.

I love the fact that people can still return to this beach to relax, catch funs, swim by the shoreline and play golf by the golf course nearby, the Prince reiterated.

We have spent two hours here. Please let proceed to the Trend Wears Shopping Mall to pick those clothes for ourselves. Okay, I'm set, Linda said and take her last sip then drop the cup. The Prince held her hand and they both walked to the limousine. The guards opened the doors for both Linda and the Prince. As they entered into the car, the guards too entered into the escort vehicles. The first jeep lead the way while the second jeep followed the limousine behind.

The people at the beach waved the Prince as the motorcade moved out of the beach area. It seems they knew that it is Prince Richmond that visited. Though, the guards did not allow the tourists to come near.

The convoy moved from the dual lane road for awhile before joining a wider express way that lead to the big store junction. The way to the Trend Wears Shopping Mall is a dual lane. The convoy drove on the road for awhile before stopping at the front of the big store.

The guards opened the limousine back doors for us and we walked into the complex. The building is very beautiful even from outside. The marble used for the exterior and the interior decorations of the building makes the building look more beautiful and colourful. It is a storey building.

We walked into the section where ladies' wears are kept. And I started chosen from the lot of dresses on display. The Prince was offered a seat while I select my choice of dresses from the clothes on display. I picked ten different beautiful dresses ranging from gowns, lady suits, camisoles and skirts. I also picked five pair of very beautiful and quality, solid leader shoes. While I was busy moving around looking for my new dresses and shoes, the Prince had gone to the men section to also select his choice of wears and shoes. The guards came back with him holding two big bags containing his choice of clothes and pair of shoes.

I know he has taste for quality things. And what he must have selected will be quality. I just have to wait till we get home to see them for myself. My choice of dresses and shoes were bagged into two separate bags and the guard take them to the limousine boot. The Prince had paid for all the items we purchased with his special mastercard and we were on our way to pick gifts for the Orphanage home we were to visit.

He had asked for the choice of gifts we could give to the orphans while on our way to the Trend Wears store. And I had suggested toys and beverages for the kids. So we headed to the store where we can pick the items. I had a store in mind, Happy Store, so we were driven to the store.

I did the selection. I picked twenty different toys and twenty packages of five alive beverages for the Akims Orphanage Home. The guards kept them in the boot of their jeeps while Prince paid for the items.

From there, we proceeded to the Orphanage. The home is a little far from the Happy store. The convoy had to move from the dual lane route where the store is sited through the express way to a neighbourhood far from the city centre. It is sited in a new developing estate environment far from the city. Though, the Orphanage building is completed, many buildings in the estate are still under construction.

The proprietor and his staff were waiting when our convoy arrived. The guards quickly opened the door of the limousine for us as the vehicle stopped inside the premises.

"Good Afternoon my Prince and welcome to Akims Orphanage," the proprietor greeted the Prince as he welcome him to the facility. Thanks Mr. Daniel James. "And she must be your fiancee, I supposed," Mr James inquired. "Yes, she is." Prince responded. "You are welcome to Akims Orphanage, madam." "Good Afternoon sir," Linda responded. These are my administrative staff. He introduced the five member of staff standing to us. Thereafter, he said; let me take you and the princess round the facility. The compound is very large with five different buildings in it.

He conducted us round the facility. The first building housed the babies, the second the kids from 3-12 years old and the third the teenagers. We saw all things done in each building for ourselves. We were pleased with the way and manner the Orphanage is run. The children and staff were looking health and happy. From the third building we moved to the administrative building where the proprietor office and administrative office are. We passed through a large office for the staff before proceeding into the proprietor's office.

Right in the office, we were offered seats. You are welcome my Prince and Princess. I heard your wedding is near the corner. Hope the invitation will get to me, Mr. James said smiling as he sat on his executive seat. Yes, sure, your name is on my list of invitees. The invitation card will get to you next week, the Prince responded with a smile while Linda just look on.

There are many pictures on the wall and on the shelf behind the proprietor. They must be pictures of children who are still here or had left the facility, she guessed. The Prince continued; "I am impressed with what I have seen on ground." "We know you can do even more and better and that's why the Royal family of Ralite city is supporting this course." "We are donating a cheque of one hundred thousand dollars only for the Orphanage to demonstrate our love." "There are other gift items for the children outside." "Please accept these tokens from the Royals," the Prince said extending the cheque to the proprietor.

I thank my Prince and Princess for this support. It is timely because we need the funding now. We greatly appreciate the support from the Royals of Ralite city, Mr. James said.

We need to start heading back to the palace. We have been out since morning. We need to return now, Prince said standing up and holding Linda's hand as they both walk back to the limousine. The toys and the beverage packages were kept on the floor. These are the gifts we brought in addition to the instrument, the Prince said pointing at the items on the floor. Thank you once again, Mr. James said as he walked his guests back to the convoy.

The guards opened the vehicle doors as we get closer. As we sat in the car, the Prince get a can juice from the fridge and asked if I will like to have one. I responded quickly as I'm already thirsty. Yes, I want one. He passed the can in his hand to me and takes another. He opened the can juice and sipped some. I had also taken some of the juice too. I now feel refreshed as I was a little famished. Some snacks are in the fridge, Linda. If you don't mind. I don't mind. Please let me have it. The fridge is closer to the Prince. He brought out the snacks rapped in nylon and handed it over to me. Thank you my Prince. It is as if you know I'm famished already, she said with a smile.

"We would soon be in the palace then we can have our lunch." "Today's outing is a successful one and I'm very excited that we accomplished all our mission." "Especially, the donation to the Orphanage home," the Prince emphasized. "I'm excited too." "Especially, for the kids that the donation will help positively," Linda said.

"You know I saw what you gave to Amanda in the morning." "I'm impressed that you did that." That's from your purse. That means if you have access to more funds you will do more for the less privilege.

I like that part of you alot and you should not lose sight of these good values, I mean being nice to people. Linda smiled and said I wouldn't lose sight of such good values at all. My parents are always helping people in need in one way or the other. They will give cash, foodstuffs and clothes to people that needs them. So I grow up to know, it is a good thing to help other in need.

They are kind people. I like kind people, Prince said. The vehicle doors were opened by the guards signalling arrival at the palace.

After Linda and Prince had had their dinner. Amanda expressed her happiness about the beautiful dresses received from Linda. Madam, the clothes you gave me in the morning were well fitted on me after I wore them. I'm very grateful, she said as she leaves the apartment for her room.

The Wedding.

Reverend Beckley and Prince Richmond, the bridegroom, were already standing in the front of the altar. The church, Saint John Anglican Church, Ralite City was filled to capacity that morning of Prince Richmond and Linda wedding.

The King, the Queen and the Chiefs were seated in the front right seats in the church. The Pastorate and Elders were seated directly in the front of the King, the Queen and the Chiefs. While the choirs occupy the left front seats facing the Pastorate and Elders' seat.

Behind the King, the Queen and the chiefs' seats were other guests invited all seated right and left side.

The bride and her father were at the entrance door of the church. They both walked gently down the aisle to the front of the church where Prince and Reverend were waiting. Linda's father then handed over her daughter to the bridegroom, the Prince.

They both stand facing the Reverend. The bridegroom was in blue tuxedo suit while the bride in white flowing gown.

The church service commenced in earnest. The vows were made and rings exchanged, the Reverend proclaimed the legal binding of the marriage. The church choirs had sang some Christian songs with other programmes and thanksgiving done before the service was brought to a close.

The couple, the bridegroom and bride, their families, relatives and guests then proceeded to the banquet hall in the palace for the wedding reception party. They moved in convoy from the church back to the palace. The King, the Queen, the chiefs and all the guests were elegantly dressed. The convoy consist of very expensive cars and jeeps decorated with ribbons and balloons flying around, and on the roof. The number plate of the Limousine carrying the bridegroom and the bride said; "Just Wedded".

The drive from the church back to the palace was not long. The church is not far from the palace. Just in 25 minutes they have arrived the palace.

The banquet hall was also filled to capacity. All the six hundred invited guests were seated. And the wedding reception party programmes commenced as planned. All the programmes were observed. Starting from hosts welcome remarks, introduction of parents, the king, the queen and parents of the bride, entrance of the couple, cutting of cake, father and daughter dance, first dance of the couple, giving of gifts, speeches and thanks, and refreshment of the guests.

It was a colourful party and exciting event and moment for Prince and Linda. The wedding reception party came to an end at exactly 6pm. By 7pm all the guests had left the venue for their various destination. And the Prince and Linda had returned to their apartment in the palace as husband and wife.
