Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

Opal was kind of ashamed to bring her uncle to her home. She shifted, let him in and went to wash and change herself. As she sat down opposite her uncle who finished looking around she smiled brightly. Her uncle however didn't look very happy, he was wrinkling his nose. Opal could guess why.

"Who lives with you?" he asked bluntly.

"No one, I live alone."

"I can smell an Alpha here." His eyes were slits of silver looking displeased at her niece.

"It's because I spent a night with an Alpha." - Opal stood up and went for a bottle of wine that had been left since her birthday celebration. Placing two glasses on the table she added – "He's my Mate."

Her uncle got visibly angry. He raised himself towering over Opal pulled her closer by her arm and lifted her shirt collar to check her neck.

"You're not marked?"

"As you see. I didn't want to. I just found out who my Mate is."

Her uncle smirked, holding her by the neck and rubbing his thumb against her sensitive glands. It was a weird feeling but very addictive. She leaned to his touch.

"Good, don't let any undeserving idiot mark you." He smirked, pleased with her reaction.

"Now tell me everything about yourself." He said leting her go.

Opal sat down and poured some wine.

"First let us celebrate a family reunion." She raised her glass and took a sip.

Her uncle smiled back and tried the wine.

"Hmm strong and sweet." He complimented the drink.

"There is not much to tell about me, I live here alone after grandma died three years ago. In three months time I will finish school. I'm living on the grounds of the Grayshill's pack, but I'm neither a member of this pack nor respected as a citizen. Oh, and yesterday was my birthday and I found my Mate."

Her uncle nodded acknowledging what she said.

"I have a lot of questions, first what's your name?" Opal could barely hold her curiosity.

Her uncle smiled, sat back comfortably and tasted the vine again before answering her question.

"I'm Arien, a member of the Silver pack that your mother used to belong to. I'm your mom's half brother. There was a great age difference between us. I was eight when you were born. I met you once when you were one year old at a birthday party. Then my parents moved away for a while and it was pretty late when I learned that my sister and her husband were killed. What was worse, they were both claimed as traitors. I was sixteen back then. Then my father died and mother got sick. She needed my attention and I stayed by her side to the end." His expression saddened so Opal grabbed his hand to show her support.

Arien's expression softened at her gesture.

"Right now you are the only family I have. A pack should keep together, you know?"

"Do you want to stay here with me?" Opal asked seriously.

"Well, as cozy as this hut is, I'd rather had something more modern in mind like my apartment in Barwick. It is far behind the northern border of this pack's territory. I have enough room for both of us."

Opal widened her eyes in surprise, this was the offer she had been waiting for. He gave her the possibility to escape this place on a silver plate. Everything was perfect, except for ... Jayden. Opal frowned.

"What's the matter?" Arien noticed the change in her expression. "Is it about that Alpha?"

"Well, yes, kind of. I'm not sure about him." Opal was honest. She didn't have anybody to talk to for such a long time so she decided to tell her uncle everything.

"You mated." Arien didn't ask, he stated the fact.

``We did, his pheromones triggered my heat." She said blushing.

"Asshole, he must be a dominant Alpha using his pheromones like this. But this action doesn't speak in his favor. I don't like him." His eyes were cold again.

"I need to clear some stuff between us. Then I can give you an answer."

"Good – Arien stood up and put his hood on – I shall see you tomorrow at dawn. Don't tell anyone about me. Not yet."

"OK. I'll be waiting, where are you going to stay?" She asked worriedly.

"At a friend's house, he is a lonely wolf living not far away."

"Can I see you off a bit?" her pleading look made his heart melt.

"Sure"

They left the house together and headed for the forest.

Jayden was eager to get back to Opal as soon as he could. Early in the morning he got a call to get back to the pack's house. Beta Jakson had some information about the rogue and they were supposed to check the grounds. It took him a while. They were running all afternoon till everything was checked, confirmed and reported. Now he was free. He even didn't shift, not willing to lose any more of his precious time, so in his wolf form he was running towards her house.

Yesterday's night was still fresh in his memory. It was so fucking good. The way she moaned underneath him, begged for more, the touch of her skin and her scent. It was perfect. All day his head was so full of Opal. He was quite close when he caught some strange smell. Something that made him growl with displeasure. Then he saw them.

Opal was standing with a man. He was tall and Jayden could tell from a far that he was an Alpha. He lowered his head and she raised her face. Did they just kiss? Then they hugged. It was a long hug. They practically stood there glued to each other in front of his eyes. That wasn't any random Alpha. They knew each other. Jayden felt anger. Deep inside he was howling from jealousy and feeling of betrayal. She played so innocently in front of him, but apparently she was a slut. His Mate was a slut. Jayden turned back, not willing to face her anymore.
