A tall man is seen jogging up a mountain at a steady pace. He was wearing a peculiar uniform solely worn by assigned officers from the Soaring Hawk Training School which consisted of a green shirt and pants, boots and cap, all of which had a crest of a soaring hawk on it.
His face seemed emotionless, but within him, he was full of riot.
'Why did they have to send me to this place? Couldn't they have sent Scruff who's powers are actually helpful in scaling up this mountain instead? My powers are basically useless in this scene!'
'Luckily, there are steps all the way to the top else I'd definitely fall to my death midway if I had to climb.'
This man's name was Calder and he was one of the few people assigned to bring the children of the nobles to the training school.
Unfortunately for him, he had been assigned to bring in the daughter of Mr. Alexander Fordora, a very powerful noble who came from the direct lineage of the Fire Progenitor.
Everyone knew he built his mansion on one of the tallest mountains in the city, and unsurprisingly, none of the officers wanted to be the one assigned to his daughter because of this very reason.
After forty five minutes of jogging up the stairs that led up the mountain, he got to the very top.
The top of this mountain was empty and filled with layers upon layers of ice. The air was very thin, causing Calder to begin to breathe heavily and it was extremely cold making him shiver slightly while cursing furiously under his breathe.
'Fancy stuffs won't last long.' He thought before placing his palm in front of him.
There was an invisible dome-like barrier which surrounded the whole top of the mountain. This barrier was made in a way in which whatever was inside would be invisible to the ordinary eyes, causing the onlooker to see an illusion of the original mountain's top without the mansion on it. And it also served as a forcefield against external attacks.
There was a scanning system placed at a part of the barrier and this was what Calder placed his palm on. It scanned it and an arch way came into view.
Calder passed through it and the next sight his eyes met was the mansion of Mr. Alexander Fordora.
The atmosphere was warm due to the dome, and the predominant color was red, giving him a sick feeling. There were a lot of maids and servants, all donning black clothes and doing one work or the other.
He approached the huge front door and knocked.
The door was opened a few seconds later by a lanky man in black. The man looked him over with a straight face.
"State your business." He said.
"I'm here to take Miss. Crystal to her new Training school as scheduled." Calder said, bringing out a letter from his pants pocket and handing it over to the man.
It was the admission letter from the training school.
The servant received the letter and shut the door.
When it was reopened, Crystal who he recognized immediately, was beside him and a short kid was beside her. Behind them were some servants who held their luggage. She was wearing a layered flutter sleeve wrap glamorous dress.
He wouldn't have minded the boy if not for the fact that he could clearly see the boy wearing the official clothes of the Fordora's. Many thoughts ran through his mind at once.
'Could it be Mr. Alexander has found the missing child and is keeping it secret? But the boy doesn't even look like him. Something's not right here...'
Crystal was beaming with smiles, mostly because her latest wish was just granted by her dad before he left.
She gave him a letter which was from her dad.
Calder took it and opened it, reading the contents to himself.
After reading it, he sighed.
'It seems the boy is a stranger. I trust it was his daughter that brought him in. Well, looks like I've been given another job...without pay.' He thought.
"If you will please follow me." Calder said and began walking away.
As Crystal began walking, many of the servants greeted her farewell of which she replied with wave.
When they got out of the dome, Calder told the servants to drop the luggage and return saying he would handle it from here, which they did, returning back into the dome and out of sight.
He plunged his hand into his pocket and took out a small jade stone from his pocket and dropped it on the ground in front of them.
It glowed slightly and suddenly, the air above it distorted for a few seconds before a transparent portal materialized.
"You both, step into the portal. It will transport you to the foot of the mountain." He instructed.
Crystal went in immediately as this wouldn't be the first time she would be using a teleportation portal. Klimo however hesitated.
He'd seen the look the man had given him the moment he saw him. It was the very same look the maids and servants had given him when they first saw him. And that look was suspicious.
He couldn't trust this man for now. What if the portal truly transported Crystal to the said destination but immediately he entered, he would be transported to another dimension filled with deadly beasts, or worse, a planet filled with Sharukans?
"Come on kid. It doesn't bite." Calder said, a tint of mockery lacing his words.
Klimo sighed and took a step forward before turning his face to have a clear look at Calder's face just so he could come back for revenge if things didn't go well.
Then he went in.
'Fucking peasants.' Calder muttered and began sending in their luggage after them. When he was done, he entered the portal after which it disappeared along with the stone.
At the other side of the portal, there was a limousine, and standing beside it were Crystal and Klimo and in front of them perched their luggage.
Calder came out soon after and the portal vanished. He couldn't use the stone on his way up because the stones only worked once and he was given just one.
He stuffed the luggage into the boot quickly.
"Let's be on our way, Miss. Crystal." He said politely and entered into the car, sitting on the driver's seat. Once they got in, he turned the keys and began driving.
* * *
After robbing the temple yesterday, Klimo had checked his stats once he was alone in his room, and he was satisfied seeing his exp going closer to being filled. But that was not all.
[Name: Klimo Javier]
[Race: Human]
[Level 1]
[30/100 exp]
[Phoenix energy: 15/15]
[HP 10/10]
[Strength: 10]
[Agility: 10]
[Stamina: 10]
Available points: 0
This was now his new stats. Due to his absorption of the energy from the Phoenix Statue, he'd gotten another stat which was [Phoenix energy].
He'd wondered if the energy was so named because it was gotten from a phoenix statue or it was actually related to the system in some way. Also, if it could be regenerated.
He'd gotten his answer when he pressed on the skills tab.
[Skills]
[0 points available] [Locked]
[Granted Skill; Solar Harnessing (Lv 1)
User is able to draw energy from the sun and convert it to phoenix energy.
Condition; User must focus on the sun's energy in harness with a clear mind.
NB- Skill can only be used after 'Skills' is unlocked!]
So far, this was the only skill he had and it was locked. He'd asked the system if he could actually use the energy at that point in time and it had replied saying that it was currently impossible to make use of as there were no skills that used it up. Apparently, he had to be at least Lv 2, which for now was still very far away.
The next morning, which was today, he was given a shcoking news. Crystal had been admitted into a prominent training school in the city and as scheduled, a man would come to take her and her things over to the training school.
Just as Klimo had begun wondering what would happen to him after she was gone, she said it.
"I've convinced my dad! He'll let you follow me!"
He'd had no reason to believe her at first, but he had no choice when her father gave him a warning before leaving for something Crystal called a dimensional adventure.
He had no right and neither did he want to reject the idea. Reasons were, he was eventually going to be tracked here and forced to be taken to a training school and at that point, the advantages he would have when going with Crystal(one of which he was enjoying right now) would all be lost.
Either that, or her dad would turn him into his servant which would be an utter waste of his new life.
Presently, both Crystal and Klimo sat in the back seat of the limo but they were some meters apart and luckily, there was silence throughout the journey.
After a few hours, the car finally arrived in front of a huge green gate on which the name of the school was painted on.
'Soaring Hawk Training School'
Klimo sighed.
'And a new chapter begins.'
