Chapter 24 - Chapter 21 Lesson 3-12 - How To Win Versus Leviathan (Part 1)

It was nearly time to head out to RAD when I met Mammon in the foyer. Having only about 2 or so hours of sleep, I suppressed a yawn as Mammon begins to recap what we were doing and our next steps. "Okay, so let's go over this one more time. You want to get into the attic at the top of the stairs. But Lucifer's standing in your way. So, you've got to do something about him. Which is why ya need the cursed vinyl edition of The Tale of the Seven Lords soundtrack. I mean, I don't understand why Lucifer cares so much about somethin' like that either, but whatever. The point is that Levi's got the soundtrack, and ya need to borrow it from him. And the only way to do that is to get him to like you by becoming a TSL nerd just like him."

I suppress another yawn and took a sip of my energy drink as Mammon continued to recap of what we were doing. "So, we were up all night watching a marathon session of every TSL DVD. Now it's time for a review. I'll quiz you to see just how well you understand it. We'll start with TSL DVD Volume 2. After falling into a trap set by Henry and the Lord of Shadow, the Lord of Fools is forced to flee to the north. When he gets there, he finds his former sweetheart's body frozen in ice. What's her name?" I wasn't fully awake and aware but even I knew the answer to this question, as Mammon was getting all flustered during this scene.

"Geldie." I answered tiredly as I took another sip of my energy drink, now feeling a little more awake. I started thinking how similar that scene was to me and Levi to force Mammon into forming a pact with me, but I quickly shook that thought out of my head and focus on Mammon's quiz.

"Correct. Eh, though anyone could've gotten that right, as easy as it was. All right, let's hit DVD Volume 5 next. Hostile forces from another land invade the Lord of Flies' country, surrounding and isolating him so his people will starve. So, the Lord of Fools tries to help his brother. The Lord of Fools means well, but his efforts backfire. As a result, the Lord of Flies ends up in an even worse situation. The reason for this has to do with the supply of food that the Lord of Fools sends. Tell me what the problem was." As Mammon continues to quiz me, I think about that scene and how Mammon was crying about it.

"The food had spoiled." After answering another question, I took another sip of my energy drink and stood up a little straighter. I was feeling like I was about ready to face Levi again as Mammon continues the quiz. "Right. The Lord of Fools really did mean well, but a long rainy spell caused the food he sent to spoil. Ugh... Every single time I think about it, it makes me wanna cry..." Seeing as Mammon was actually tearing up, I reached into my uniform pocket and hand him a tissue. He took it hesitantly as he avoided making eye contact with me and his checks were a little red.

Mammon straightens up and prepares another question for me. "All right, time to move on. Next up is DVD Volume 7. The Lord of Corruption imprisons the Lord of Emptiness in the Tower of Shadow, refusing to forgive his brother for leading a rebellion against him. The other lords lament the fate of their youngest brother, but there's nothing they can do to help him. Why is that?" Now feeling totally awake and ready to go, I begin to think about how the Lord of Corruption was exactly like Lucifer and how the Lord of Emptiness must be... I hear Mammon clear his throat, which snaps me out of my thoughts and back to reality.

"They were afraid of the Lord of Corruption." I answered confidently, having remembered how Mammon was complaining about the scene being unfair. "Great. Looks like you can do this when ya really put your mind to it. You may seem like an airhead, but I've gotta admit, you did pretty well." I ignored how Mammon called me an airhead and focused on the plan. "I'd say you should be able to convince Levi that ya know your stuff at this point." Mammon looked confident, but I highly doubt that answering these easy questions would convince Levi.

"...Hey, human." I almost choked as I was taking a sip of my energy drink when Levi called out to me. I turned to see Levi angrily coming towards me. "Ah, well speak of the devil..." I wasn't sure if Mammon was making a pun or not, but I was more focused on Levi and how angry he looked. "I heard what you're up to, human. Seems that you're trying to suck up to so I'd like you." Levi was giving me a dirty look as he said this, and I awkwardly looked away. 'How the hell does he know this...?'
