"I believe you were going to settle this via a QUIZ, weren't you? Not through violence." I open my eyes to see Lucifer in his demon form, standing between me and Levi. I was utterly in awe at seeing the otherworldly beauty of Lucifer's demon form. From his back, I could see four beautiful black, fallen angel wings coming out of a high-collared, long-tailed coat that was decorated with red and gold peacock feather patterning. He was also wearing simple black pants and leather shoes. Instead of his usual black gloves, he wore red ones. As he looked at me over his shoulder, I could see a black diamond on his forehead and two curled-up bull-like horns on his head. At that moment, I saw Lucifer as a beautiful being who could kill me in an instant, and I was suddenly attracted to him.
"You're out of control, Levi." Lucifer looked back and glared at Levi. "L...Lucifer..." Levi's anger quickly dissolved and turned timid as he took a step back from Lucifer. Seeing Lucifer as the safest to be around, I got up and nervously stood behind him "Wh...?!" Mammon got up off the ground, his uniform covered in ice cream. He looked completely shocked that Lucifer was protecting me, and I kind of was too.
"Unbelievable! Just as Leviathan was about to strike who should step in and stop him but the one and only Lucifer himself! Simply incredible!" Asmo voiced his surprise while he was relaying what just happened. "I haven't seen you leap to someone's rescue like that in quite some time, Lucifer." Satan didn't look all that surprised, and had a look in his eyes that I simply didn't trust.
"*munch* *munch* *munch*...*gag*... Ack...food... caught in throat..." Beel was choking on his food, but whether because he was surprised by Lucifer or was eating too fast, I didn't know. "Levi, go back to your room and cool off." Lucifer sternly commanded Levi, who just timidly stood there, staring at the ground with a frown on his face.
"Levi? You heard what he said, right?" No longer having a smile on his face, Diavolo looked upsettingly towards Levi. "...Yeah." Levi finally replied, nodded his head, and quietly left the room. At that moment, my legs gave way as I sink to the floor, my heart still racing, and I felt relieved that I was no longer in danger. With an unreadable look on his face, Mammon looked over to Lucifer. Lucifer raised an eyebrow to Mammon, as if curious about what he wanted to say.
"What is it, Mammon? You look like you want to say something." Lucifer gave him a look as if to tell him to speak his mind, but Mammon just looked away. "...No. I don't wanna say nothin'." Mammon crossed his arms around his chest looking very upset. I feel like I should be the one who was upset, being that I almost died, but that's just me.
"So, what're we going to do now? How are we supposed to have our competition without Levi?" Asmo looked upset, possibly because there was no way to continue the competition and that meant Asmo was no longer the center of attention as the Master of Ceremonies. I wanted to glare at Asmo for him being inconsiderate that I ALMOST DIED, but I was still in shock that I was still alive. "I guess this means the competition ends in a draw. Neither one of them won." Diavolo clapped his hand, his usual smile back on his face.
"I've got an idea. You should give your guest free cafeteria meal tickets as a parting gift. Fifty years' worth ought to do the trick." I was unsure if I should be ticked off at Beel for only thinking about food or be impressed that he seemed to have not paid attention to the situation. "Still, I have to say I find it surprising that you would go out of your way just to rescue a mere human, Lucifer. Very surprising...don't you agree, Mammon?" I couldn't quite understand what Satan was implying. It feels like he thinks I am special in some way, but it is probably just because I'm a human exchange student.
"... Huh? Why're ya askin' me?" Mammon looked like he was out of it as he gave Satan a half-assed response. "As the oldest, it is naturally my duty to clean up my younger siblings' messes." When Lucifer said that, Mammon looked even more upset as he stared at the ground with a frown on his face.
I finally managed to calm my racing heart and get back up on my feet. Clutching my sprained wrist, I looked to Lucifer and quietly thanked him before making my way off stage. As I was lost in thought, I nearly tripped off the stage, but Mammon caught me and helped me back on my feet. I smiled at him, happy that I had him by my side. Even though he didn't seem to like me all that much, I felt safer with him. We leave the student council room of RAD and make our way to my room at the House of Lamentation.
"So, ya made it out of that without being attacked, only to end up fallin' on your butt and sprainin' your wrist... Seriously, could you be any more of a klutz?" Mammon started complaining as he tried to bandage my sore wrist. I winced when he was a bit too rough, and to my surprise, he started to be more gentle and careful. "You humans really are way less physically capable than us demons. That's because they don't eat enough. And unlike us, they don't eat the right things." Beel sounded a bit muffled as he said this while eating a slice of pizza that Mammon brought to my room.
"Stop tying everything back to food, Beel! Actually, why're you even here, anyway? Seems to me that you've been spendin' an awful lot of time here ever since the night of the DVD marathon." Slightly confused, I looked to Mammon as he said that to Beel. 'Doesn't he know that he does too, more so than Beel does...?' "Well, so have you. I mean, you've even left a cell phone charger here. And a toothbrush, too. That's how much you're over here." As Beel started pointing out things that clearly weren't mine, I started to nod in agreement in my head. Mammon just comes in and leaves stuff in my room, like we are close or something.
"W...well that's because, uh...you know... I've gotta look after this human, don't I? It's my job..." Mammon started to look embarrassed as he continued to mess with the bandages while avoiding making eye contact with me. "Mammon, you're doing a terrible job with those bandages." Beel pointed to my hand, which was in a spherical shape thanks to Mammon's wrapping skills.
"Hey, shut up! I've never had to wrap someone's wrist before, okay? I don't know how it works! If you think I'm doin' such a bad job, then why don't YOU do it, Beel!" Mammon looked ready to throw the bandages at Beel's head as he pointed angrily towards Beel. "*munch* *chew*...mm, nothing beats pizza for a midnight snack." Beel ignored Mammon as he took another slice of pizza. I hoped that Beel wasn't eating my slices of pizza that I haven't eaten yet because Mammon wanted to bandage me up first.
"Dammit Beel, listen to me when I'm talking to you! Wait a minute... Isn't that MY slice you've got there in your other hand?!" Mammon was ticked off when he realized his slice of pizza was being eaten by Beel. "You know, I could really go for a soda right now. I'm going to go run to the kitchen." Beel leaves my room for the kitchen as he continues to ignore Mammon and eat his slice of pizza.
"... Hey, Beel! You put down one of those slices you're holdin' right now! HEY!" Mammon calls out to Beel, who didn't hear as he was already out the door. "Of all the... Seriously, does that guy ever stop eatin'?! You'd better keep a close eye on your pizza, or he'll steal yours away next." Mammon leaned back onto my bed, still looking upset that he had his pizza stolen. After a few minutes of silence, Mammon spoke up.
"...Ah...um, by the way... There's somethin' I want you to know. ...Listen. The next time your life's in danger, I'm gonna be the one to save you, all right? Don't you forget that. ...And if I can't manage to save ya, then make sure you die, got it?! I don't want no one else steppin' in and savin' you, all right?! It's me or no one, understand?!" Bewildered, I look to Mammon to see that his checks were...red? "Why? Why does it matter that you are the one that saves me?" I looked to him, confused. I thought that Mammon didn't care about me, but for some reason, he seemed to be acting like a tsundere who loves me.
"B-because...ya know, because it's my JOB!" Mammon's checks grew red again as he glared at me. I couldn't help but giggle at how embarrassed he looked. "Huh...? That's ain't my phone. Is it yours? Hey, Daisy...your D.D.D.'s ringing." As I was giggling at how funny Mammon was acting, he pointed out that my D.D.D. was ringing. Though confused that I would be getting a call when I was hardly close to anyone here that would warrant them calling me, I quickly picked up my D.D.D. When I saw that Levi was calling me, I nearly dropped my D.D.D. 'Is this a sign of my death? Is he going to kill me?!'
