Chapter 25 - Chapter 22 Lesson 3-14 - How To Win Versus Leviathan (Part 2)

"Whaddya mean? Who told you that?" Mammon was confused at how Levi found out about our plan. Besides me and Mammon, Beel was the only one to know our plan, and I didn't think he would tell Levi. "It's no use playing dumb. I heard it from Lucifer." I was so caught off guard by Levi mentioning Lucifer being the one who told him that I almost choked on my energy drink. 'How the hell did Lucifer find out?! Does he also know why I am doing this?!'

"Lucifer? How the hell does he end up hearing every single thing that gets said around here?" Mammon looked ticked off at how Lucifer knew about our plan. I also wondered how Lucifer know everything that goes on around here. Did Beel tell Lucifer, or did Lucifer find out himself? One thing is for sure, I need to be more careful about what I say or do when I'm not alone.

"That's not important. You know, I've heard it said that the time a fool spends thinking is WASTED time. I think that applies here. You're lucky to have so much time on your hands that you can sit around thinking up schemes like this. There's so much anime I need to watch, so many figurines and trading cards I need to organize, so many games I need to play just sitting there piled up... As much as I wish I could watch a marathon of every TSL DVD, I don't have time... So, why do YOU get to have so much free time? It's so not fair." As he was looking at us, Levi let out an irritated sigh. I get how Levi feels, remembering how I recently didn't have time to do the things I wanted to back in the human world.

"Ah! I was waiting for him to say that. Levi's signature line: 'It's so not fair.'" With a teasing smirk on his face, Mammon started copying how Levi was acting. I wanted to tell Mammon to not provoke Levi, but Levi cut me off. "Shut up, Mammon. You're an idiot." Levi began glaring at Mammon. "You know, Levi, you need to start showin' your older brother some more respect!" Mammon glared right back at Levi, and I could feel that the space was getting tenser by the second.

"Anyway, I don't know what it is you're plotting, but I'm not about to get all buddy-buddy with some human normie. Understand? I'm not like Mammon. Get that through your head." Levi gave me a look that made me want to crush my now-empty energy drink, but I stopped myself and took a deep breath. 'I get that you are different, that you are all different. Besides doing this to get to the attic, I really do want to be your friend.'

"Hey! It's not like I'm buddy-buddy with this human, either! My body obeys the orders on its own, whether I like it or not. Like when I'm told 'stay' or 'go home' and stuff. It's not my fault!" As Mammon tried to defend himself against Levi's claims, I couldn't help feeling annoyed and a little hurt. 'I should've known watching a marathon together won't bring us closer together so easily...'

"Don't go getting any ideas in your head, human." Levi focused on me, ignoring what Mammon was saying. "Hey! Don't just ignore me!" As Mammon called out in a frustrated tone, I come up with an idea. "Let's compete to see who the bigger TSL fan is!" With a serious look on my face, I focused on Levi. 'If I want to get that vinyl, I need to prove I am a huge fan of TSL, and what better way than through a competition.'

"...What? Where did that come from? Do you seriously think you can beat me in a competition involving TSL? Haha, that's hilarious! lololol! As if I'd actually accept a challenge like that. I mean, I already know what the outcome would be." With a smile on his face, Levi tried to walk away, but I quickly got in his way. "Afraid of losing, Levi?" As I asked him, I had a smug smile on my face. I usually don't provoke others, but I wasn't going to give up and let this chance pass me by.

"Excuse me? Did you process anything I just said? Where are you getting this idea that I might actually lose to you?" Levi took a step forward, anger slowly appearing in his eyes. "I knew it. You ARE afraid, then?" I continue acting smug and tried to push Levi's buttons more. "Excuse me? EXCUSE ME?! Are you processing ANYTHING I'm saying here?!" Levi was rapidly getting even angrier as I continued to provoke him. I knew I shouldn't be doing this as he was a demon and he could easily kill me, but this was getting me closer to my goal.

"Levi's a chicken!" I raised my voice and shouted, hearing it echo through the house. "Hey! Watch what you say, human!" Levi was getting more ticked off by the second as I continue to anger him. "Levi's an otaku!" I continue to shout out things about Levi, hoping that it would make him agree to accept my challenge. "Well, yeah, can't argue with ya there." Mammon nodded his head, agreeing to what I said. "Levi's a..." I was about to shout something else when Levi stomped his foot, leaving a small crack on the floor.

"...Fine. If that's what you want, I'll do it. I accept your challenge. We'll compete to see which one of us loves TSL more, you or me. Just one thing, though. If you lose, you might never make it back to the human world alive. But you still want to do this, right? Okay." Levi had a cold smile as he said that last remark and I felt a shiver down my spine as I nod my head. 'If I mess up, I might as well have dug my own grave...'

Sometime later, I was walking up the stairs to my next class when someone called out to me. I turned around to see Satan and Beel. "Hello there, Daisy. I heard about what's happening. It seems you and Levi are going to have a little competition." Satan smiled, seemingly amused at the thought of a normal human like me going up against a demon like Levi. "...Are you hoping to find out what's in the attic room? Is that it?" As Beel asked me this I took a moment to consider how I should respond. 'Since Lucifer knows my plans on becoming friends with Levi and PROBABLY knows that I am doing this to know what is in the attic, there is no point lying or keeping quiet about it.'

"Yes, I am." I knew that next time I would need to be careful what I say or do when I am with others from that point on. "Huh. You don't say... I'll let you in on a nice piece of information. Levi is the demon of envy. If you can work him into a jealous frenzy, he'll lose control of himself. Then he'll be guaranteed to slip up somehow, giving you an opening you can exploit. Just one thing, though. If Levi does lose control of himself, your life will also be in danger." I blinked a few times, surprised that Beel, a demon, would give me advice.

"Why did you decide to tell me this?" I asked, just a bit skeptical about any demon giving me advice, as I knew what Beel said is true. "No reason. Just felt like it, that's all." As Beel gave me his reason, Satan looked like he was considering something, like he wanted to tell me something.

"I'll give you a piece of advice, too. The DVD version of TSL is up to season 7 now. That's the most recent release. Meanwhile, the original book version is up to volume 8 at this point. Volume 9 of the books isn't out yet. But if you want to know what's going to happen in it, you should ask Simeon." I was utterly bewildered, a little at how Simeon could help, and a lot at that Satan would even think of giving me advice.

"Why would you be offering up free advice to me like that?" I gave Satan a puzzled look, wondering what would motivate him to do such a thing. "No reason. Don't read too much into it. I enjoy making things difficult for Lucifer, that's all." Satan gave me a wicked smile as he thought about making things difficult for Lucifer. Feeling a little uneasy around Satan, I quickly said my thanks and headed to class.
