This world was one of modern power and Mana, Mana was something that existed everywhere. It was beyond infinite in quantity, however the amount a person can use is far smaller. A person can end up developing a Mana Core that essentially absorbs and purifies Mana, natural Mana is poisonous to the body. Mana Cores can't be developed by everyone, the conditions required for a Mana Core aren't the same for everyone. Some people just develop them while others go through traumatic experiences and develop them afterwards.

But, I was going to use a different method to awaken as a mage, or if I was being scientific, a Mana Manipulator. People have 'shards' of Mana in their body, these shards come together to form Mana Cores. My plan was to forcibly put them together, I might suffer some after effects, but what's the point of living without taking any risks? I would likely have to piece toghether my core late at night so as to make sure no one noticed

On the topic of this world's power, I'll explain what bloodlines or bloodline abilities do. A bloodline can be inherited or it can be random and spontaneous. Bloodlines can be inherited, so from parent to child. They can also be inherited from other races. My bloodline hasn't awakened so unfortunately I won't be able to figure out what I can do until later on.

Bloodline inheritors don't always awaken, my family likely hasn't had an awakener in centuries. However some bloodline bearing families awaken more often than others, like the Pendragons who have been consistently awakening for generations. There are also things which can act as catalysts for awakenings. However those are only for bloodlines that are from different races. Certain Artifacts made by the Dragon's or a Dragon's scale may catalyst an awakening.

Now then, random and spontaneous bloodline abilities. No one knows how they're manifested, some think they're a gift from God. These bloodlines can be passed on, some Inherited bloodlines just appeared and manged to be past on. There's nothing to say that they will be passed on though.

I looked at the date, it was the first of January.

'This takes new year, new me to another level.'

I chuckled rather pitifully at my own joke before looking back at the mirror.

'If I'm correct, then the two daughters and the Archduchess must be under the belief that I'm related to them. So, I'll use the death of 'my father' to get closer to them, if I can get the support of the Pendragon family then life will be far easier.'

I grabbed the bowl of what I had deduced to be porridge, the bowl was cold, I then wolfed it down. If I wanted to grow up properly then I'd need to eat a proper amount of food. And developing a Mana Core will need energy, so I can't starve myself. I then grabbed the bottle of water, it was silver in colour and looked to hold around 500ml of water, my eyebrows rose slightly, they were going to end up killing me at this rate.

I felt stomach rumble, I then sighed, I was going have a 'chance meeting' with either one of the two daughters or my adoptive mother. From what I had heard in the novel, they were all fairly decent people. My plan was fairly simple, I was going to cry about the death of 'my father' and use that as a way to get close to them. But first, I'd need to sneak out.

I sighed gently, it seemed like my overall intelligence had diminished due to my infantile body. Or maybe it's because my mind hasn't properly settled in this body.

I then pressed my ear against the door, I noted that there didn't seem to be anyone there so I opened the door as quietly as I possibly could and then closed it just as quietly. I looked around, I was I'm a rather long corridor. There were no other rooms aside from a toilet, I spared no time and quickly went down the stairs. Then I made my way to the living room, it took quite a while. I had to hide under bits of furniture every so often as maids were passing by.

Then I somehow ended up at the living room, the living room was extravagant beyond words, but it still gave off this feeling of modesty. The carpet was red and the chairs seemed to have been made with alloys that had gold mixed in with them. The sofas were also rather extravagant, there was a table at the very center of the room with a fruit bowl on it. My stomach rumbled, I went to take a banana but then I heard footsteps. I turned around and saw the maid from earlier.

"You vulgar bastard. How dare you touch the fruits laid out for the masters?"

She walked towards me and slapped my face, I fell to the ground due to the difference in our sizes. She then started stomping on my body, occasionally targeting my voice.

"The masters are all in mourning. But you dare to come out of your room? You'll only remind them of the past, just go die."

Then I heard another pair of foot steps, then they stopped. Soon after, 'something' pressured down on my body, I looked up at the maid, she seemed to have it far worse. She was on the ground, she was grabbing her head tightly and was getting her teeth.

"How dare you cause such a disturbance when my father has just passed away? And boy... who are you?"

I looked up and saw a girl, she had blonde hair and bright, jade green eyes. I then noticed that her eyes were literally glowing, she was using Mana. This world's supernatural energy, I tried to stand but I fell down face first. It wasn't that her pressure was that strong, it was just I was that weak.

I tried to get up but fell down once more, I used my hands and legs to cushion my fall. I then felt blood drip from my mouth. I coughed up a bit more blood, the pressure weakened but only slightly. I looked at the girl once more, I cleared my throat and took a deep breath.

"I'm your younger brother, I think?"

The pressure disappeared almost immediately, I then felt her look at me right in the eyes. She had a look that someone her age really shouldn't have. But even then she was rather adorable, she gave off this aura of elegance and intelligence.

"I'll have to verify your identity, but considering your bodily state, I think that continuing to apply my pressure on your body might actually kill you. I did hear about father having a concubine, so you may be my half brother. But, even if that's true, don't forget your place. But, I'll give you the opportunity to introduce yourself, and for your information I am Irene Pendragon. The eldest child."

'Why is she so... logical? Well this is going to make life a bit harder. Now that I thought about it, it was only natural that the bearer of the Dragon's bloodline was like this.'

I took a deep breath before speaking.

"I am Valier... Valier Pendragon."
