Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 - A small bump on the road

My eyes widened slightly, I looked at Trodius, he had rather long black hair and green eyes, he was tall and handsome. But, I wasn't paying much attention to him before, so I hadn't really noticed any of those features. And now, I had noticed his Intelligence, even with my acting abilities he was able to see through my act. He was scarily intelligent, of course me not being able to use the full extent of my memories or intelligence also played a part in me not being able to hide my abilities.

I'll have to take this into consideration moving forward.

"You are correct, I was indeed pretending to be weak."

Trodius laughed heartily, clutching his chest and doubling over.

"I knew it, your act was almost perfect. But, it's the way you hold yourself. It's like you're a warrior who's been through countless fights, but that isn't possible. So, you must be some sort of genius or something like that."

'Or something like that? You're telling me this man figured out that I was hiding my abilities just from the way I stood? Well, I suppose it makes sense, Trodius is a rather powerful mage so it makes sense for him to be able to identify the strong.

'Tsk, well I suppose I can't really get rid of something I do subconsciously that easily.'

I smiled bitterly at Trodius, he was going to die soon but I was going to use him the best I could in the following days.

I flowed lightning attribute Mana throughout my body, making it flow through my nerves and muscles, my muscles twitched with power. Lightning danced around my body like a flock of pure white doves.

"Since you know that I've been hiding my power, I'll stop holding back."

Trodius' playful smile dissapeared as it was slowly replaced by a manic one.

"Come at me, 'Faker'."

I dashed at him, using flash step to gain momentum, I reeled my fist back and punched him, aiming for his liver. He redirected my fist and launched me in the air, I condensed flames at my feet and used them to perform a spin kick. My kick landed on his, I released the condensed flames, they seemingly devoured and engulfed Trodius.

Then, I felt a pressure, the pressure made me jump back. With a series of acrobatic movements I landed a few dozen meters behind us, perched on the ground with one hand on the floor.

"Not bad, not bad at all. You know, I'd have left long ago if I truly thought you were just average. Sure the fact that you're able to use Derivative Magic so soon is impressive. But it'd be useless if you couldn't use it properly, but thank God I stayed. I never thought I'd see something like this."

I surrounded my hand flames and used flash step and reached for his face. Then, he simply grabbed my arm, and crushed it.

"Ghh-"

I felt 'pain' and suppressed the 'intolerable pain' of having my arm crushed. But I 'persevered.'

"I have you now."

I engulfed both me and Trodius in flames, I poured all my Mana into it, disregarding my own defence. This was because my own flames couldn't burn me, this was because I was one who cast the spell. Normally, your own spell can't harm you.

"Hey... don't go thinking that this can actually kill me."

Wind emanated from Trodius' body, the flames I poured so much Mana into simply dissapeared.

"Not bad. Not bad at all, Faker."

I then felt myself start to feel sleepy, looking wearily at Trodius I passed out from Mana exhaustion.

***

I woke up in my bedroom, not the one that was pure white, but one that was luxurious and spacious. Apparently we were rich as fuck, so we could afford to give even an adopted child a room like this. I looked around and saw a maid, she informed me that I had passed out from exertion. And on top of that, my combat classes were cancelled for the next few days. The Imperial Princess' birthday. This was somewhat annoying, she possessed the Angel's Bloodline. And she had the light attribute, so if we fought I'd probably struggle even if our stats were relative to each other.

And I've not awakened my bloodline abilities, Valier was an endgame villain. He possessed two bloodline abilities that came from the demons, the reason for this was because both his parents descended from Demons. That was also the reason as to why he was able to awaken the Demon's Bloodline. One ability was the power to create weapons and to assimilate weapons. He could produce this material that could be shaped into whatever he wanted, he could also copy the structures of other weapons and he could even use those weapons abilities. But they weren't at the same level as the original.

His second ability was his 'Demonic Eyes', it allowed for him to see Mana and its flow. He could also see through people, and get a look at their bodies. Like their muscle composition and whatnot and using that he could predict their next moves. He could also use that to copy and adapt to their moves.

He was fucking busted as hell, but he wasn't the smartest person out there. And he was eventually used by...

By? Who was he used by?

'Why... can't I remember?'

A bead of sweat formed on my forehead and slowly rolled down my head, I was aware that my memories weren't fully intact but I hadn't myself to forget something like this. After a bit of thinking, I also realised that I forgot about how Valier died among other things.

I stood up, I was going to make sure not to get involved in the story. I was simply going to act as a side character, maybe help the protagonist every so often.

I don't need to protect anyone since I don't have anyone, so my life should be fairly easy.
