We were walking down a path when we encountered a huge serpent, since it's looking at our direction we were discovered, as I was about to get ready for a fight rimuru shot a water blade at the neck of the serpent decapitating it in one attack, well that was unexpected.
(Hey how many times can you launch this attack?)
(pretty much unlimited times as long as I have water, this attack uses about a cup's worth)
As we approach the monster's corpse rinuru devours it with his skill and a while later his body expands transforming into the serpent and he got its skills "Heast Sense" and "Noxious Breath", A normal adventure would have a lot trouble with this guy.
We spend a while analyzing the skills he got and these are the results.
1. Mimicking the black snake increased his bodily volume.
2. The skills he had just earned could be invoked without having to mimic the snake's form, although their performance could suffer as a result.
To go into further detail:
1. He could break down and store the monsters he consumed with Predator in my stomach. He had used Predator on his body in order to repair damage, and this provided some spare cells to help with that
2. "Intrinsic skills" appeared to be skills that were exclusive to a certain type of monster. He has Absorb, Self-Regeneration, and Dissolve skills were intrinsic to him as a slime. However, to use intrinsics, he needed to take the form of the monster in question, or else he couldn't bust them out all the way. he could still use them in part, though, and some skills—like Sense Heat Source—seemed to work just fine either way.
Putting it all together: Predator is freakin' cheat. Unique skills are powerful I couldn't wait to have one too.
Three days have passed since the battle with the serpent, we kept wandering the dark chilly caverns for a while, when was the last time that is saw sunlight well I have a bad premonition and couldn't help but ask rimuru,
(We are walking in circles, aren't we?)
(I'd be fine. It was probably just a really long path. Not knowing the exact way did make us a little nervous, though. I will try to ask for help)
And as it turns out we were really lost and we were circling that same area again and again, after rimuru mapped out the paths we took before we headed in a new direction.
We were greeted with new sights, moss and weeds were starting to appear on the walls and ground. And I didn't know where the sun was, but the light, dim as it was, was starting to make its way inside. Which meant it was daytime.
Along the way, We had a few more monster encounters. To be exact as his appraisal concludes:
A centipede monster ("evil centipede," rank B-plus)
A big spider ("black spider," rank B)
A vampire bat ("giant bat," rank C-plus)
A big shelled lizard ("armorsaurus," rank B-minus)
No more of those black snakes, though. Maybe that was rare.
They were not that hard to defeat, Not that I'm one to talk, given that rimuru's Water Blade was still enough to end a battle all by itself. But the vampire bats did dodge his blades long enough to get near us, so I had to kill them myself as my speed was faster so it wasn't that hard, and his water attacks just bounced off the lizard guy's body if he didn't hit it at the right angle so I killed him instead with blunt attacks, and that big spider when it showed up rimuru freaked out and shot a dozen water blades at spider making it mangled beyond recovery but he devoured all the same and got a lot of skills , I am pretty envious right now.
Black serpant: Noxious Breath, Sense Heat
Centipede: Paralyzing Breath
Big spider: Sticky Thread, Steel Thread
Vampire bat: Drain, Ultrasonic Wave
Shelled lizard: Body Armor
And he kept trying those skills they were useful but the one that most dangerous was Noxious breath, it was powerfull it dissolved a shelled lizard in an instant, looks like that black serpent was powerfull but thankfully it didnt have enough time to demonstrate its ability.
What is surprising is the Skill Ultrasonic wave since it is a sound skill rimuru kept adjusting to the skill In order to produce sounds and the results we successful although the voice came out synthetic.
"I COME FROM OUTER SPACE!" exclaimed rimuru loudly
"Your voice is a bit distorted but at least you got one to work with now"
After messing around with his skills a little more we continued in the direction of the sunlight, And while it took some time, we eventually made it. The outside. The first time I got to bask in the sunlight of this world.
The cave, it turned out, was in a forest. The exit was just a hole at the foot of a mountain—more of a small hill, really, which stood out against the vast trees that surrounded it. In fact, thanks to the dense foliage, this hill was the only point you could see the sun from. Take a step into the forest, and all appeared to be dim darkness again.
Climbing to the top of the hill, I saw some kind of strange pattern carved into it. A magical pentacle it seemed like, Maybe those adventurers we bumped into were responsible? Guess it doesn't matter much.
The magic energy concentration is significantly lower that what was in the depth of the cave, thankfully thanks to veldora naming I don't feel any instability with my spiritual body.
As we continue to walk in the forest, the sun begun to set, looks like we left the cave around midday, we haven't been intercepted by anything on our way as I was confused by the reason I focused my senses on the surroundings and discovered the Cause, Rimuru was emitting huge amount of magic energy intimidating anything that comes near us, I wasn't affected by it because I was used to it by now, when I was going to tell him about it my Magic Sense skill spotted a group of monsters approaching.
That's suprising aren't they afraid of rimuru pressure I wonder what are they?.
