"Very well, Your request is granted!"
Rimuru answered, And that is how he became the guardian of a goblin village.
After his declaration rimuru excused himself from the goblins telling them that he is going to to summon a friend to help in the defense
After coming to a secluded area, I couldn't help but say
"Look at that rimuru, your first day out of the cave and you already found a job as a bodyguard"
"Hey, I couldn't help it, they were sincerely asking for assistance, Haah, I was like this in the past too whenever someone relies on me for something I will do it even if I complain about it"
"Well the request is not that hard, from their discreption ten goblins can take on a direwolf and Judging their strength they are weaker than the monsters we encountered in the cave, The problem is to organize the goblins we can't defend every part of the village against a pack"
We discussed with each other and decided to breakdown all the houses and make fences around the village and rimuru will reinforce them with his Sticky Thread skill he got from the spider he killed in the cave and we will setup traps around the fence, if any place was breached I will quickly come to stop the attack while rimuru will confront their leader, I hope he just scares them off with his aura.
When we returned I stopped concealing myself and rimuru introduced me to them as a friend he called to help him against the wolves, They thought that I am a named spirit summoned by rimuru to fight against the wolves, Well they aren't entirely wrong to the naked eye I appear to be semitransparent when I am not concealing my magic power due to not having a physical body, rimuru is able to see me clearly either way whether I am concealing myself or not because he visualizes the surroundings with magic sense.
Then we began to reorganize the village I went with scout leader to disassemble the houses to build the fence while rimuru went to check on the wounded to heal them, he can make medicine from the grass that was abundant in the cave. we also need to train the remaining able goblins to at least be able to shoot at wolves when they are stuck in the traps around the fence and assigning a scouting party to get an early warning before that attack.
As night fell, around a day after we arrived at the village, the final planks were on the fence. The finishing touches were rimuru's—spider silk to strengthen and solidify the paling and a few Steel Thread traps here and there. Anyone touching the fence without knowing the secret would be carved up before they knew what hit them.
The fence had a single entryway on one side and it was lined with Sticky Thread, and the preparation here was done. All that remained was to wait for the scouts to come back.
By this time, the wounded goblins were starting to wake up, healed from their wounds. They furtively poked their bodies, staring curiously down at themselves. Looks like that grass has a greater effect than I thought even the graver-looking of the patients were all healed up.
After that, We had the goblins collect the extra material, pile it up in the center of the village grounds, and set it on fire to keep watch during the night, We could've handle it easily we don't need to sleep but was sharply refused.
"We could never allow you to shoulder such a heavy burden!"
"She is right! We will handle watch duty. Please, Sir Rimuru, Sir Raiden take the time to rest a little!"
The rabble around us echoed their approval. I appreciated the thought. They had to be far more exhausted after all that preparation, who would've thought that I will be working with goblins one day.We then agreed to handle the watch in shifts.
Just before midnight, the scouts returned—some wounded, but all safe. The direwolves had begun to move.
That was our prep process, more or less. Hostilities were under way, so there wasn't much else we could do with limited time, I wasn't convinced the fence was strong enough to hold, but I will handle any stragglers that manage to get in the fence.
As the Direwolves approach the village they surround it with leader of the pack facing Rimuru at the entry way, rimuru releases his aura trying to intimidate the from attacking.
"All right, stop where you are, okay?" rimuru said to them. "If you turn back now, I promise I won't do anything to you. Move away from here at once!"
Well that didn't work out well looks like that leader underestimated rimuru despite his aura and ordered the attack anyway, the teamwork of the wolves was extraordinary they moved together as on entity and attacked the fence from all directions fortunately they we caught in the traps.
Anticipating this, small slits were built into the fence at regular intervals. Those openings were for arrows so the goblins could attack from the inside and interfere with the enemy's movements. They opened fire, and even with their crappy aim, they made more than a few direwolves scream their last. A few of the enemy force tried to pry the spaces open and break in that way…only to have their heads caved in by the stone-ax-wielding goblins on either side of each hole. there was no need for me to intervene and although two hours wasn't nearly enough practice time, but this village was playing for keeps. They listened to everything we said, understood it, and trained seriously. And we were reaping the rewards. The wolves were strong, yes, capable of taking on a gaggle of goblins at once, and maybe they were even stronger as a pack. but we just have to make sure they couldn't team up, the simplest strategy in this battle, Divide an Conquer.
Since there were no problems on my side I focused my attention on the confrontation between rimuru and the leader of the pack.
After seeing the attack go awry the leader charged at rimuru to break the defense, he was faster the other direwolves but nothing too great and as expected he fell into rimuru's sticky threads trap and was stopped in place, these monsters are not that big of a deal we overprepared a little, It was then that rimuru launched a water blade at the leader's head
It hit home. The head launched upward, and then gravity took it. He killed the boss—and more importantly, he made it look like a joke.
"Listen, direwolves! Your leader is dead! I will grant you one final choice. Submit to me or die!"
The remaining direwolves showed no sign of moving as their gazes were directed upon rimuru
Amid their stares, he gradually started glooping forward. Was he going to devour the leader's body now?
In a moment, he was at the alpha's limp body. Nobody offered any objection. One of their pack, which had taken up position nearby, retreated a step. Then he swallowed the corpse.and transformed into one of them.
Activating a skill of the wolves probably, He spoke to them in a loud, guttural scream. "Arh-arh-arh! Listen to me!" he declared to them. "Once, and only once, I will let this go unpunished. If you refuse to obey me, I bid you to leave here at once!!"
""We pledge our allegiance to you!""
Now they were kowtowing to him, although it looked more as if they were having a lie-down for a nap. But regardless, they had apparently chosen "submit" anyway. Maybe they'd been having a little Thought Communication conference about it while they were standing there like statues.
The problem is solved anyway
That, more or less, marked the official end of the battle at this goblin village, What an anticlimactic event.
