Chapter 5 - The Death

Soon the days passed and it was almost a month since Ryle returned home. During this month he took the reign of his pack as well as the company in his hand.

He was now officially Alpha Ryle of the Bloodmoon Shadows pack and CEO of the Engelson inco.

But before the whole pack could celebrate the happiness of officially having a new alpha something grave happened.

Exactly one month after Ryle returned, Isabelle died from cancer.

The gloominess clouded the sky above the Bloodmoon Shadows pack.

The loss was immeasurable. One of the strongest pillars holding them up high has collapsed and what was left behind was crumbling dust.

Although as Alpha no one doubted Ryle's abilities, it couldn't be forgotten that Ryle was still young. He has lots to learn.

Ryle was hardly trying to adjust to his new life and the sudden death of his mother broke him apart.

The night his mother was breathing her last breaths Ryle stayed beside her the whole time. In front of his eyes, he saw his mother leaving the world with the first ray of the sun.

That day not just his mother died but something inside him died too.

They cremated Isabelle the same day beside the nearest graveyard for the Engelson family. Ryle handled everything maturely the whole time but like a life-less doll and when everything ended the man surrendered himself to the pain and misery of losing the closest person in his life.

"Leave me, alone," he ordered everyone around in a deep empty voice.

Humans and werewolves are different from each other in many aspects.

The special powers and ability to shift not just make werewolves stronger but also hastened and magnified their feelings and emotions.

As much as it sounds great with good feelings such as happiness and love it becomes unbearable with the negative emotions.

Pain, heartbreak, sadness everything makes it worse for every werewolf.

Ryle's wolf has already succumbed to the sadness of Isabelle's death.

While Ryle drowned himself in the alcohol to numb his feelings.

On the rooftop of Alpha's house, the newly selected alpha was laying in a devastating state.

His gaze was upward looking at the moonless sky.

The atmosphere was a bit humid and due to clouds, not even a single star was visible.

Few bottles of alcohol were scattered around the man and he was still holding the last one.

Ryle sat up and gulped down the half of the bottle in his hand before laying down again.

His eyes were empty and his face was expressionless.

He still remembered the night when he lost his father. That night his father was leaving to investigate some unnatural activity going around their borders. When he left, he promised Ryle that he would return soon but that night all that returned was his body, torn into pieces.

Little Ryle remembered how few of their warriors laid the body in front of his mother in the hall.

While he was watching everything from the third floor, hiding behind the railings.

He saw the gruesome sight of his father, he saw her mother breaking down and crying her heart out.

For a little boy who has yet to understand the way of the world and whose everything revolved around his mother and father, it was a big shock.

But that night he still had his mother to hold him and console him that everything will be okay.

He lost his father and his mother had to take the responsibility for the whole pack.

She has to become the Luna as well as the Alpha of her pack.

As the time passed Isabelle tightened her reign around her pack and took everything into control. She proved all those wrong who thought that the Bloodmoon Shadows pack will fall apart without the actual alpha.

And doing so she hardly found any time for Ryle but even though she never neglected him. She always kept him by her side. Letting him know in what condition they were in and how hard it was to lead a pack as a single woman when many people were waiting for an opportunity to tear her and her son apart.

She raised Ryle to become a perfect heir for the title of leader of his pack.

She taught him fighting, politics, leadership, business and so on.

And when Ryle was fifteen years old she sent him away from her and his pack's shadows to fend for himself.

So he could learn to stay alone and be tough. All she did was for this day when she won't be able to stay by his side anymore and he has to take care of everything himself.

He became what she wanted him to be. And now when he finally returned, she left him forever.

She would have fought for life a little bit more if he would have been slightly unfilial or irresponsible.

Ryle's empty eyes started to fill with water. Hot tears rolled down from the corner of his eye and stained his shirt.

The despire started to take over his heart.

Ryle found himself sinking in the ocean of helplessness, bit by bit.
