The days passed and things started to fall in rhythm of regularity again. In just a time of week Ryle had taken over most of the matters in his hand.
Handling business as well as pack matters.
One day, as usual he was working in his personal study when knocks resonated inside.
"Knock knock," Ryle looked up, "Come in," he said through a mind link.
Sophie peeked her head inside and saw the young man sitting behind the crisp white desk with a stoic face.
The whole study was decorated with the combination light blue and white colour. Both were very lively and Ryle's favourite colour. With lightning and decoration the room gave a warm and peaceful vibe, yet the air around the alpha was bone chilling.
This study was designed by Isabelle, she has prepared all the things for Ryle beforehand. Ryle's room, his study in the packhouse, his office in the Engelson inco. Everything was redesigned by his mother. She herself chose the plans and materials as well as all the small details according to Ryle's tastes.
But despite the soothing decoration Ryle's strong and gloomy presence was dulling the atmosphere.
In just a week Ryle had molded himself completely into the alpha and CEO.
Whole day he passed either handling business matters or the pack matters.
Sophie and other pack members were working beside him closely, making most of the things easy.
Ryle had thought for a long time and had decided that he would not select new staff. Instead he kept all the old people from his mother's side. They were all reliable and perfect for the job.
But there was still a vacant place, which was of the beta of the pack.
Isabelle was a Luna and thus after the previous beta died with her husband she never chose one.
Instead it was Sophie's father who was working as an acting beta all these years and when he became old Sophie took over his position five years ago.
But just as acting beta. As a woman she couldn't be appointed as a beta.
So until Ryle chose his new beta Sophie was handling most of the matters.
"What's the matter?" Ryle asked when Sophie walked in and stood there standing in front of him wordlessly.
Sophie pursed her lips but she didn't know where to start.
"You need to choose your beta soon. Without beta the defence of the pack will remain weak," Sophie said.
Things were stable under the watch of Luna but with Isabella's death many things will change and Sophie could see chaos approaching them.
"Hmm," Ryle nodded his head. Actually he needed to choose the beta at the time when he was appointed Alpha but Ryle didn't.
"Do you have anyone in mind?" Sophie asked, taking a seat In front of him.
She then pulled away the pile of files that were placed in front of Ryle. He was working on them nonstop for the past six hours. And it was already past midnight.
"Yes, he will be here in a few days," Ryle nodded.
"We have to hurry and start to take precautions. It's been a week and I don't think news of your mother's death will be hidden from other packs for long. As soon as they find this weak spot they will surely try to attack," Sophie informed. She has tightly wrapped the news of Isabelle's death.
"Hmm," came Ryle's answer.
Sophie, who was looking through the file, lifted her head and saw a young man staring at the table without blinking.
Her heart started to ache looking at him like this.
"Ryle…. Ryle… you should go and have some rest," she advised. Ryle looked up and nodded his head. His gaze was a bit lost. He rubbed his hand on his face and then in his hair.
"See you in the morning," he stood up and left the study.
*While at the medical care unit in the early morning.
Inside the special care unit a girl who was sleeping in deep slumber suddenly moved.
Her fingers moved and the normal heart rate started to pick up speed.
Beep! Beep!
The machine attached to her body by wires started to make loud noises.
The girl's breathing hastened and her long eyelashes flutter slowly.
The nurse on the duty hurried inside to see the little girl staring blankly at the sealing. Her chest was rising and falling heavily.
"You are awake," the nurse had shocked expressions on her face.
She looked at her and asked but the girl didn't reply. Her eyes slowly moved and the fear started to filled the little girl's heart.
The nurse hastily checked the machine to check her vital condition.
The machine was showing a slightly quickened heart rate but apart from that everything was normal.
The nurse ran back to fetch the doctor Murray without delay since the patient was one of the most important because their Alpha Ryle had brought her personally and she was hit by his car so saving the girl's life was top priority of the hospital.
