Vanessa lay on the bed stiffly after several futile attempts to roll under the covers of sleep, but her body wouldn't succumb and her mind kept whirling with thoughts till she found herself staying awake till the early hours of the morning.
Maybe it was the jitters that came with being in a new environment, something Sophia didn't seem to have as she was sprawled and soundly enjoying her sleep on the bed of a stranger.
Her lips twitched at the sight of a peacefully sleeping Sophia. She was grateful at least one of them could sleep comfortably. She wished Sophia could be like this all day - calm and at peace with no care of how to feed and survive the next day, or fear of lurking debtors with tons of embarrassment to dish out to them.
Despite Sophia's smiles, laughter and comforting hugs, which she was truly grateful for, she knew the girl was having a hard time but she was being selfless by keeping it all to herself.
