It wasn't until Vanessa returned to her office that she finally gave in to the burning feeling of embarrassment she had very well hidden behind her anger. Had she listened to Sophia, she would have saved herself this unnecessary round of embarrassment.
But then again, how was she to know that someone as busy as Alex Moore —an ass as he was — would take note of such an insignificant detail about her wardrobe. She mused as she sat behind her desk.
There must be some awkward pull of attraction between her and embarrassment, because she never seems to run out of it.
She glanced at Nate, wondering if Alex would have taken note of her repeated outfits in that manner had she been a guy.
"Are you okay? What did the CEO want?" Nate suddenly asked when he registered her presence as well as her awkward gaze on him. He stared at her with more curiosity than concern.
