Chapter 14 - Fear of Photos

Eliza paled slightly at the thought of what would happen if she let the spoiled princess comb her hair. "No need, I can do it myself." She politely tried to refuse Elvira's offer, because without even trying she already knew what the outcome would be.

"Hehe, there's no need to be embarrassed. Even though I've never done it but I've seen maids combing me a lot and it looks easy... Now you sit down!" Elvira immediately stood up and walked behind Eliza to push her to sit.

"If you find it difficult please tell me" Even though Eliza kept rejecting her offer, but in the end Eliza couldn't do anything.

After a few minutes of Elvira fiddling with her friend's hair, she was surprised when Eliza's hairstyle didn't match what she thought. "Uwa, this is more difficult than I thought. Even though I'm already moving this comb as I see it?"

"Can I brush myself now? It's been more than 15 minutes and this hairstyle is even worse than before." Eliza sobbed a little when she saw her hair, which was previously just messy, had now become frizzy.

"Wait a minute, I'm starting to understand how this comb works. Just give me a little more time." Elvira who kept thinking finally found a way to neatly arrange Eliza's hair.

"Nooo!"

After 30 minutes of styling Eliza's hair, Elvira finally managed to style Eliza's hair according to her wish. Eliza also walked to the table and took something in her small bag.

"This is your order. Because my father's leave was refused so he could only come home yesterday to bring this. So sorry the gift came late." Eliza was a little uncomfortable when she was only able to give Elvira the things that Elvira asked for after a month.

"It doesn't matter, it's been 5 years I haven't given him a gift. So he won't be angry if I give him a gift one month late from his birthday." Elvira took a gift in the form of a small brown box with a ribbon on it from Eliza's hand.

They both walked to the living room. Elvira was the first to enter and immediately put her gift on the table.

A man dressed as a noble walked up to Elvira and was surprised by what her brought. "So you gave this to me, Elvira?"

Elvira could only look down and stare at the chocolate box that she was about to give to her father. It was her favorite chocolate and also a rare chocolate that was only sold in the Capital City.

"Gosh, so you bought your own because you were tired of waiting for me? Sorry, dad is too busy to buy you the chocolate you want." Mr. Etherna looked guilty to see his daughter gave him a box of chocolates that he didn't have time to buy.

"Elvira, put this over there." Eliza walked up to Elvira while carrying her freshly burned incense and gave it to her friend.

They both prayed in front of the altar in the form of a wooden cupboard and put incense on each side of the photo in the altar.

White light began to cover Mr. Etherna when his daughter bowed and prayed in front of his photo. "I really want to apologize to you 5 years ago for always putting off buying that box of chocolates, but I always don't have the chance."

With teary eyes, Elvira nodded as she continued to stare at the photo of her father who died 5 years ago due to a work accident. "See you later."

In the distance Mrs. Etherna looked happy when she peeked at her daughter who was praying for her father, after 5 years finally her daughter dared to come to the living room and meet her father.

The Head of the Etherna Family died when Elvira was 10 years old. The sudden incident really hit the little girl when she received the bad news.

The news of her father's death made little Elvira who was very spoiled and dear to her father experience trauma and mental breakdown. This made she not dare to come to the living room because she did not accept her father's death and continued to think that her father was still alive.

After praying and wiping her father's photo, Elvira intended to return to her room but she was surprised to see her mother and several maids sobbing behind the door.

"What are you doing here, mom?" Elvira was surprised because she didn't expect her activities to be witnessed by several people.

"This moment is really touching. Finally young miss met her father after 5 years." A maid continued to wipe her cheeks which were already wet with tears.

"My little Young Miss has finally grown up and was able to forgive her father's departure. Gosh, why did you go too soon Mr. Etherna!" With a handkerchief in his hand, Julian sobbed like a child behind the maids.

"Actually I wanted to call you because the sorcerers have arrived. I'm glad you finally dared to meet your father." Her mother smiled and was proud of her daughter's bravery which she had been waiting for for 5 years.

"Supposedly if I was stronger, I would have been able to meet dad sooner and pray for him." Hearing her mother's words made Elvira really disappointed with her timid self.

"That's good. Letting him go does take time, and I don't want you to rush. The older you get, I'm sure you will understand and let your dad go." Mrs. Etherna is proud of her daughter because finally time has given her the strength to be able to fight her fears.
