Chapter 22 - That annoying cap

Gradually, he will understand all he needs to know about this absurd world for him to survive better.

*************

Liam never knew there will come a day in his life that all he would desire in the night is a good night's rest. After a well-assisted bath, he walked to his bed void of any other thoughts.

He fell onto his bed and closed his eyes. The peace in his room lasted for a few seconds and he felt his hair rise as the temperature dropped.

He sat up and looked at the window. If eyes could melt things, the window would have melted under his gaze. He heard an approaching footstep and it took him only a few seconds to make out the figure of the intruder in the room.

"Why does everybody want me death at night alone?" he groaned as he got down from the bed.

Staring at the figure, he began seeing the person clearer with every second that passed. What he took note of first was the subtle yet sexy hourglass shape of the intruder who was dressed in a pair of trousers and a coat.

She was dressed like a man but he could not be deceived that the person before him was a woman. Her full chest was unwilling to be hidden.

"Who are you?" he asked as he hated the fact that he would have to see another female's dead body.

She paused and parted her lips in astonishment. She looked down at her hands and me again. She was not armed; at least whatever weapon was hidden under that coat was yet to be revealed hopefully a grenade was not one of them.

"I said who are you?" he was forced to repeat his question when she acted like he was not human enough to speak.

It was insulting, the type of look of surprise you would wear if you hear a sheep speak and not the look filled with adoration most people would wear if they see a dog talk but one, they will wear if the sheep announced their death.

Liam paused. He felt he might be petty but he returned the expression she wore making sure not to omit any detail. "Who are you?" he repeated as he began approaching her again.

She turned and ran towards the window. Alas, she was not here to kill him but rather steal. Well, that was what Liam wished as he was captivated by the silly daring beauty that the cap, she wore low could not hide.

He caught her coat and turned her to face him. She looked away unwilling to meet his gaze. He used his free hand to pinch her chin and raised her head.

She was stronger than he taught her she would be and he did not want to be too hard on her enough to cause an injury to that beautiful face.

"You must have heard tails of my brutal killing, right?" Liam asked her his voice deeper than ever before and smirked before shaking his head. "I fear that you might be one of those many victims if you do not tell who you are," he pitied her as sincerely as he could.

"I . . ." she began before shrugging off her hand from his grip and pushing him as hard as she could with a loud grunt.

Liam's brow twitched and shook his head still standing on the same spot. So much energy for this? He expected more with the way she struggled with him. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her to his side with her hands held in his free hand.

"Now, are you ready to talk?" he asked seriously as he was trying his best to be patient enough not to knock her out and tie her up. He wanted to sleep and he was not going to let this girl disturb his night.

She was an easy subject to deal with compared to all he was forced to see during the past nights. Her hand in his grip was soft.

She whispered under her breath still looking away to avoid his gaze. And that was what he did not want her to do. He wanted her to let him see those beautiful green eyes he saw.

She continued murmuring faster and he leaned closer to hear what she was saying but he could not make out any word from what she was saying.

"What are you doing?" he asked puzzled by the gibberish she was saying.

"Spells, the invisibility spell to leave," she replied him sharply as she raised her eyes to glare at him. Her struggles were made worthless in his grip.

Liam laughed. "So, the only way you could use magic is through spells?" he laughed in disbelief and loosened his grip on her slightly.

She did not let that opportunity go. She freed herself and took steps away from him until she was at the window. It won't be difficult for her to escape through the window if she wants to but she paused and looked at him.

"Could you take your cap off?" Liam asked as he could not see her eyes with the cap obstructing his view.

"No, we will meet again, soon. An unmarried lady should not be out so late with a strange man," she replied him shaking her head seriously.

What nonsense was this? He has never felt teased by a hidden beauty in his life. He has always loved bold beauties who are not scared of being seen.

She laughed softly. So softly he found it to be so elegant very different from her earlier bold actions. He began questioning himself if she was his type or not.

Her personality was one he had not come across before. Well, it was not like he had lived in this world before. "When next we meet, dress like a woman and don't wear a cap," he ordered her with his narrowed as he could not believe what he was saying. This like this has never been fun for him.

She nodded energetically. "You lost your memory seeing that you cannot recognize me, your highness," she concluded.

Liam rushed to the window with his hand stretched to grip that black coat she wore but his hand caught the air in it and it was light.

He clenched his fist before punching the glass of the window. The glass shattered and the cold night breeze made the hair on his body rise.

He would make her pay when next they meet. But pay for what? The window? He shook his head as he returned to the bed hypnotizing himself with the lies that the broken window would not hinder his rest.
