"Father. For the sake of Samara, please don't arrange her marriage with anyone. She needs time father. Please." Arjit said, still trying hard to convince his father but Rajput held no expressions on his face.
"Give her time and lose a great business deal? I'm sorry but I can't. Her marriage is going to be beneficial to our company and I can't let such an opportunity slip away."
Hearing the words his father was spouting, he took in a sharp breathe and closed his eyes. He opened his eyes once more and the clear rage he felt was evident in his eyes.
"Father, you're no longer the CEO, did it not dawn on you to consult me first concerning any business deal?" He asked, maybe using his power as the CEO would change his father's mind. But then, would he even listen?! Samara's not a business tool, she's his precious little sister who needs all the care in the world. She shouldn't be given out to just anyone!
His father gave no reply immediately and only quietly glared at him. "You're trying to use your position as the CEO on me? Remember, I gave you that position and you have no right to threaten me." He chuckled at the end.
Arjit knew that it wouldn't be an easy feat to convince this man here. Infact, it was nearly impossible but he could still try. It had to do with his sister's happiness and he would do anything for her. Even if it meant putting his life on the line for her happiness, he would do it. That's the extent of his love for her. He also wondered what kind of man it is that his father had chosen for her, he knew his sister well and she wouldn't object to it if the person was not actually bad. What kind of a person actually made his sister cry that much?
"Are you saying that Samara is like a business tool?!"
"She's a business charm and I'm lucky to have her as my daughter." He shamelessly spouted and Arjit glared at his father once more. If this conversation went on, he might say words he's not meant to and that was something he didn't want to happen. He only planned to ask who he had chosen for her and he was going to get it done with!
"Who's he?" He asked.
"Good you asked! You should know about your future brother-in-law and no..."
"Father!" He said cutting him off. He was getting impatient and his father was testing his limits.
"Yu Liang. The foreigner. He's the current CEO of the Yu corporations and his father who is a very good friend of mine had shown interest in Samara for his son. It would strengthen the bond between the two companies."
"The devil?!"
"He's not in any way the devil. He only got that name from people."
"I don't care how he got it! It doesn't matter. I can't let Samara get married to him. That devil!"
"I've made a decision and you can't change it." Rajput said and Arjit clenched his fists into tight balls. He knew that was the impossible part. Even if his mind told him he could convince his father, a part of him also told him it was impossible.
"Father, please think about her condition. You know how fragile her heart is." He said but this time he pleaded with him. He knew it would be useless if he kept on yelling and being arrogant. All he could do right now was to put his ego aside and plead.
He placed his two hands together and pleaded with his father. "Father, you can always turn down your friend. Even if you want to get her married, choose a handful of suitors and let her pick any she likes. We can't do this to her. Please father."
"I'm sorry but I can't. She's going to marry Yu Liang and that's final!" He said as he slammed the laptop close and placed it on the table.
He faced his son and said in a low tone. "Don't do anything stupid. I'll find out." He warned and left the living room. Devi also stood and gave him a meaningful gaze before catching up with her husband.
Arjit was alone in the living room, he stared at his folded hands and he subconsciously fell on his knees with his palms still placed together. "I'm sorry Samara. I failed you as a brother. I couldn't convince father, I'm sorry. Forgive me." He said in a shaky voice and tears unknowingly fell from his eyes.
He wiped the tears on his face and his face turned cold. He knew who that Yu Liang was and it was not for nothing people called him the devil. He had once witnessed with his own eyes how cruel he could be to people. What would he do when he gets married to his sister? Would he treat her well? His sister whom he had always adored and loved would be sent away to live with the devil. A man who has no heart. A man who could get away with anything he does. He's a monster and yet his father still agreed to give Samara to him?
He felt helpless at this moment, his sister who he had always protected was now going into the lion's den under his watch! He could do nothing about it and it angered him the more. He could no longer brag of being a good brother! He couldn't!
After a few moments of wailing in his mind, he finally decided to freshen up and then meet up with his sister. He ever slowly stood up and moved towards his room which was at the second floor. He was in no condition to use the staircase so he decided to use the elevator which he strangely never used even when he appeared to be slightly drunk sometimes.
Few moments later, he arrived the corridor to his room. He slowly brought out the keys from his suitcase and unlocked the room.
As soon as he got into the room, he thrashed himself on the bed and dropped his suit. His mind was a mess as he didn't know what and how to help his sister.
After a long while of thinking deeply, he finally stood to take a shower.
....
Samara was in her room curled up at one end of the room but this time around, she didn't cry. She did not want to worry her brother by crying.
She knew at some point in time her father would choose some random person for her to get married to, she thought she was prepared for it but she actually wasn't when she found out who her father had chosen for her. He was the infamous devil CEO. She had heard many stories about his devious act and she couldn't help but feel the shivers run through her spine.
How could her father choose such a man? She wouldn't have been bothered one bit if he had chosen someone else. Someone more humane.
She had tried to convince herself that everything was going to be okay but no matter how hard she tried to stay strong she couldn't. She couldn't help but think that she would be treated badly. What should she do? Run? Even if she ran, her father would definitely find her. Well, there's no harm in trying. She would do that the day after, her engagement ceremony was just a week from now.
'I'll definitely escape. Everything would be fine. I'll find somewhere to stay.... wouldn't I be betraying brother if I escape? He had always been there for me. No, he'll understand my plight. There's nothing to worry about.' She convinced herself and her eyes finally felt heavy. Well, she cried the whole day and she must be tired by now.
Her eyes were slowly fluttering close, she muttered some words before she drifted to sleep.
