Chereads / SAMARA AND THE DEVIL CEO / Chapter 5 - Escape

Chapter 5 - Escape

Samara woke up after stretching in bed for some minutes. She hadn't slept this long and somewhere she felt disappointed to wake up. Did she want to die? She couldn't accept reality and staying asleep for as long as that devil could wait was something that Samara would have wanted but again, she knew it was impossible.

She moved from her bed and wore her fluffy bunny slippers. She stared at the girl in the mirror and she could see a different person. No, she was the same person just that this side of her wasn't something that was seen everyday. The dark circles under her eyes clearly showed how stressed she was and she sighed softly. "Is father really going to do this to me? I have never seen this man. Only heard about stories. Devil." She murmured.

"Well, it's no worries I'll escape after the engagement, no. I'll do that before the engagement, escaping after would be impossible because everyone would have eyes on me." She murmured to herself.

"Not that nothing's changed." She said and moved towards her bathroom. The servant had prepared her bath as she liked it. Hot. Some would call her weird for taking hot bath, not the warm kind of bath that many usually took. Hers was always hot, making steam ooze out of her body and she liked it.

She stepped out of the bathroom after taking her bath and wrapped a towel round her body. She changed into a light blue gown, unattractive and pale. Maybe, just maybe if that devil were to visit and he sees her like this, he might not like her and then call of the alliance. Not that she wore attractive clothes to begin with!

After getting dressed, she sat on the bed, thinking about her escape plan. What would be the right time to escape? The day after her engagement or before the engagement? Would it even be wise to...

A knock disrupted her thoughts and her her fists were clenched. Couldn't she at least have some peace?!

Taking in a sharp breathe, she walked towards the door and opened it. A short maid came into appearance and Samara sighed. She had thought it was either her father or mother but then why would this maid knock on her door. She had seen this maid working only for her mother, why is she here??? Was the question that popped out of her head.

"Good morning Miss Samara. Your mother has sent for you to be present at the dining hall. Everyone's waiting for you." The maid said and her last words rang bells in her head. Everyone? But it was only her father and mother, had the Yu's arrived? This fast? What's she going to do?! Should she go down? but then she didn't want to create a scene so she could only conclude in her mind.

The maid noticed that the lady was lost in thoughts and didn't reply to the instruction that was passed down to her so she asked. "Are you alright miss?"

Samara was quick to nod as she didn't want the maid to see her as someone who needed empathy. She was doing fine till the marriage thing happened. There's no need for anyone to look at her with pity.

"I'll be there in a moment." Samara said and the maid nodded her head and left.

"I have no appetite. They gave me a reason not to." She said and stepped out of her room.

....

Back at the dining hall, Devi could see that her son was in a foul mood. He didn't eat much of his food and he was pacing back and forth. She didn't want to see him in this state. She didn't want him worried for that troublemaker, so she decided to send her personal maid to fetch her.

The maid had done what she was instructed and told them that she'll join them in a few minutes, even if they just had breakfast.

Hearing this, Arjit's face brightened only for it to turn dark after some seconds. Devi noticed it and she asked.

"What's the matter son? She'll be here in a few minutes, why are you worrying this much?" His mother asked, she hated that he gave his attention to a girl who was his half-sister.

Arijit ignored his mother's words and continued to glance up the staircase.

Few minutes later, Samara appeared, descending the staircase. His eyes lit up seeing her, she looked in a better condition than yesterday and he could only sigh in relief.

Samara descended the stairs while trying her best not to look into anyone's eyes. She didn't want her brother to worry about her so she kept her gaze down.

Arijit on the other hand, misunderstood it that his sister was still mad at him. He couldn't do anything than persuade their father which had not gone well.

Samara reached the dining hall, and she finally lifted her gaze, she was relieved to see that it was only the four of them at the table but then, she was shocked to see her brother there too.

Since Rajput had appointed him as the CEO, he barely had time for home, she usually wakes up by eight O'clock AM, and by then he's already gone. Sometimes, a day or two would pass by without them seeing each other, and seeing him here now was surprising. She felt happy that he was having breakfast with the family but she knew it was because of her. He was only worried for her and he didn't want to leave her alone. But he had a company to handle and her wellbeing shouldn't falter his work.

She took a seat close to him, totally ignoring the others on the table, she wasn't aware that she ignored her parents and had failed to wish them a good morning.

"Good morning brother." She said with a small smile on her face, her brother beamed with happiness that she was at least speaking.

"Morning little sister. Did you have a goodnight sleep?" He asked and she slightly nodded.

It was true, she did sleep well, no bad dreams and she was grateful for that. At least, her mind would be in a sane state before her escape.

Noticing his sister spacing out he held her shoulder lightly and she jolted from her thoughts. "Is everything okay?" He asked her and she nodded.

"You should eat your breakfast." He reminded and she faced the food on the table. She didn't have any appetite but she still ate. It would be such a waste if her brother waited for her and she didn't end up eating.

Seeing that she was trying her best to eat, Arjit smiled as he stared at her eating face. His sister was still innocent, someone who was still naive in the way things worked. He couldn't comprehend the fact that she was getting married, and to someone he despised the most.

Rajput cleared his throat and Samara raised her head. Her eyes slightly widened, realizing that she completely ignored the existence of both her parents.

She craned her neck towards her father's direction. "I'm sorry father -Good morning father, morning mother." She wished them, her father replied with an 'mm' but her mother gave no reply.

"Mother?" She called, thinking she had not heard the first time but she still got no reply.

"Mother, I'm sorry. I didn't me -" Her sentence was cut off because her mother held out her hand for her to stop talking.

"Don't call me mother. You can't regard my presence then I see no use of calling me with that title." Devi blatantly said.

Samara knew she was not her biological mother, the story behind her being here was still unclear to her but all she knew was her mother was somewhere out there, probably dead or alive. She could not tell but she did hope to reunite with her mother one day but she believed that Devi's behavior towards her is built from the hatred towards her own real mother and how she was conceived.

"Mother stop it!" Arijit interfered and it was enough for her to shut her mouth. She quietly glared at the troublemaker before standing to leave the table.

"I'll be in the lounge." She announced and left with an angry gaze.

"You should eat more." Arijit beckoned his sister but she shook her head. "I'm fine brother, you shouldn't worry about me. You should be in the office." She reminded and he smiled lightly. She was still concerned for him even in her helpless state.

"Yes Arijit, you should go to the company." Rajput supported his daughter's words.

Arijit ignored his father and placed a hand on his sister's. "It's alright, I've rearranged all of my schedule till ten AM, till then you don't have to worry." He assured her but Samara wasn't an idiot not to know that a CEO losing even a second of his time was not good.

"No, you should go. I wouldn't want to impose on you." She tried to reason with him but he remained adamant.

I told you it's fine. After breakfast, I'll take you somewhere." He said, and even though she wanted to decline, she couldn't resist when it was her brother. She sighed softly and then nodded.

Her breakfast went smoothly, she was forcing the food in her mouth as she had no appetite.

Arijit could see she was having difficulty eating so he stopped her. "That's okay for now." He said and she nodded.

They both stood, making their way to their various bedrooms.

"Get dressed, we'll be leaving in ten minutes." He said and she smiled. He was a CEO and he stood by his words or time, so she could only run back to her room to get changed.

It was enough for her that she at least, had one caring brother. How fortunate she was to have a brother like him!
