Ten minutes were up and Arjit walked towards Samara's room. He softly knocked on her door while patiently waiting for her.
Samara opened the door and poked her head outside, seeing her brother waiting for her outside her room, she didn't need to be told that she needed to fasten her pace. She didn't want to keep a CEO waiting, not that he'll mind. She added to her thoughts before she placing her head back inside.
In less than two minutes, she stepped out of her room and she found her brother waiting at the same spot. She really felt bad for him. He was supposed to be at the office but here he was trying to make her happy by delaying his own schedule.
"Sorry for keeping you waiting brother." She apologized and he walked towards her.
"I understand. Were you having a hard time? You would have called for one of the servants." He said and she shook her head embarrassingly.
"I'm not a child brother. I can manage on my own. Please don't worry about me." She added and he nodded.
They stepped out of the mansion and walked towards the parking lot. He walked towards a black Camry SE and Samara creased her brows. Why was he taking that car. As far as she remembered, he uses a Maybach GLS. Why is he using the Camry?? She could only ask herself, realizing she wouldn't get answers by asking internally, she voiced it out.
"Brother? Why are you taking the Camry?" She asked and he smiled lightly.
"Attention. I don't want unnecessary attention when I'm with my little sister. This car is kind of low-key so it's the best option if I want our outing as planned." He explained and Samara nodded. That explains why he didn't wear his normal business suit. Black or dark blue. Two colors every single day. She thought.
He walked to the other side and opened the door for her to get in, she got in unhesitatingly and he smiled. He walked towards the driver's seat and also got in.
After making sure her seatbelts were on and everything was okay, he turned on the gear and drove out of the mansion.
.....
Back at the Singh's mansion, Devi was pacing back and forth. She had come to realize that Samara was a real thorn in the flesh. She had made her son postpone his schedule, just so he could spend time with that girl!
She walked towards the window and sat on the chair placed there. "I never knew getting her out would be this troublesome. The engagement needs to be held." She murmured and she felt the door slightly open and found her husband walking towards her. 'Did he hear what I said?' She asked herself.
"Who were you speaking to?" Rajput asked and she silently sighed in relief that he did not hear her words. Though, he was getting her married to the CEO, it didn't mean he hated his daughter. He was only power hungry and his daughter was just like a tool. Would that even be considered loving ones daughter? Not caring about what she thinks and wants. Asked Devi in her mind as she scoffed.
"I was just saying I'd miss Sam when she gets married. We should start with the preparations. Her soon-to-be inlaws would be here next week and we need to start with the decorations. I'm sure you wouldn't want anything to go wrong." She said, changing the topic. His eyes slightly narrowed before nodding his head in agreement.
"You're right. Inform all of the servants to start with the decorations and everything needed for the ceremony." He said before stepping out of the room. Since he had handed the position of the CEO to his son as a result of his health. He had little to no work to do. Being someone who had been working all his life, it felt weird not to do office related work. But with time, he had gotten used to it. His health wasn't going great and the doctors had advised to rest. It was good that he had a son to take care of the company. And so far, Arijit had been doing great.
Sitting in the living room, a smile appeared on his face. His daughter would be getting married to one of the most influential people. How lucky he is to have a beautiful daughter.
....
Arijit had been driving for minutes and Samara had no idea where they were going. She wanted to ask but it would divulge her brother's concentration from the road, and she didn't want that. The last thing she wanted was causing an accident and harming her brother.
"You aren't saying anything." He turned to look at her as the traffic turned red.
"There's nothing to say brother." She said with her gaze lowered, and it broke Arijit's heart that his sister could no longer look him in the eye. He knew he was incapable but he couldn't bear his sister avoiding his gaze.
"At least look at me. I know I couldn't convince father and I'm trying to make up for it. Please forgive me." He said as he looked at her. Her gaze slightly moved upward and she met his eyes, but before she could say something more, the lights turned green and they started to move.
She wanted to tell him that she was not angry at him, and she'll never get angry at him. She just felt really low because she was getting married to that infamous man, and she was not ready. Her father had made his mind and nothing could change it, unless if the groom's family called everything off, which was never going to happen.
She wanted to tell how much she wanted to escape but she knew her brother would refuse it, not because it was a problem but because he cared for her safety and freedom, he would never want her to live in a world that she felt she would be caught one day.
The drive was silent and Arijit didn't bother starting up a conversation, not because he didn't want to but because he wanted to give her the needed space. He had plenty time to talk to her and the car was not the least of places.
"Brother, are you angry?" She asked because he hadn't said anything, misunderstanding it to be anger. She wasn't okay with the thought that her brother was angry at her!
"Why'd you say so?" He asked, slightly turning his gaze from the road.
"You've been silent." She said and he didn't reply immediately.
"Isn't that what you wanted? Space I mean." He said and it convinced her more that he was indeed angry.
"Huh? I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way. I just didn't want you to divert your attention from the road. It might cause an accident and hurt you." She said those innocent words to him and it made him want to tear up, like a mother who was proud of her daughter.
'So that was what the silence was about? Thinking about myself and not hers. Never seen someone this selfless before.' He said in his head.
"Well I guess we misunderstood each other's silence. Here I thought you were angry at me and needed space." He said to have her lightly smile.
"And here I thought you were angry at me for not speaking." She said and he chuckled shortly.
"You don't need to ever worry about me being angry at my little sister. I would never get angry at her." He said and she smiled at his words.
"Thank you brother. Thank you for being a wonderful brother." She said and he grinned.
"And thank you for being the sweetest and best sister one could ever ask for. I'm lucky to have you as my sister." He said and she smiled. Smiling at her brother's words was the most thing she has been doing.
They almost reached the place but their car moved forward than expected and Arijit realized that it was hit from behind. Even after keeping a low profile just so he couldn't get his sister in any of his trouble. It seemed like he was being followed, and this person had the nerve to hit his car.
"Stay here in the car with her." Arijit told his trusted guard who had been sitting quiet on his instruction.
"Yes boss!"
Arijit stepped out of the car and strode towards the imbecile who dared to hit his car. It seemed people really wanted him dead.
He reached the car and violently knocked on the windscreen. Since the glass was tinted, he couldn't see who it was.
The windscreen slowly went down and the man in the car didn't seem to be fazed about him hitting the other car, instead he was slightly annoyed at Arijit for slowing down so he intentionally hit the car. It was a good thing he chose to drive today, he thought to himself.
"Yu Liang, I didn't expect you to stoop so low." Arijit gritted in anger.
Yu Liang stepped out of the car, using his door to hit Arijit. Arijit would have landed his fists at him but then people who would recognize him would have a bad impression about him, and he didn't want his sister to witness him in that state, so he could only clench his fists on the side.
"Arijit, my soon-to-be brother in-law. What a wonderful surprise." He said and chuckled but Arijit did not find it amusing.
"Delusional of you to think I'd accept you as my brother-in-law. My sister hates you and will never accept you." Arijit said only to hear a dry chuckle. One that wasn't pleasant but at the same time amusing.
"Interesting....We'll see about that." Yu Liang said.
"I would have put more force in hitting your car, you seem to be an obstacle." Yu Liang added and it was the only thing that had his anger reach its peak.
It would have been okay if his sister was not in the car. He would have overlooked it but then his sister was in the car, he could do anything but overlook it. What if she had been hurt and all because of this devil?
