"Red, don't lick my face!"
It was Eva's giggling voice that woke Lucas up many hours later. His head moved with Eva's shoulder gently waking him to the world around him.
"See now you woke him up."
Eva laughed again as Lucas rubbed his eyes and lifted his head from its resting spot.
"How long was I asleep?"
The sky was still dark from the rain, but the spot they had chosen to rest was still mostly dry. The air smelled heavily of freshly fallen rain and of wet dirt.
"Only for a few hours. You should get more rest. See look at these dark circles."
Eva set the leopard cub down onto the ground and faced Lucas. A frown crossed her face while she observed the dark circles under Lucas' eyes.
"First let's change your bandages."
Lucas pulled off his cloak and shirt so Eva could have access to his worst injury. Eva pulled out some fresh bandages from the pack and began changing the bandage for Lucas.
