"Ugh… Light already!"
The sound of Eva's frustrated voice woke up Lucas from his slumber. He was laying on his side next to a warm, furry cat?
The smell of wet grass and moss wafted into his nose. Eva was leaning over a clump of sticks and cursing under her breath.
"How does Lucas get this going every time?"
Lucas almost let out a laugh at that comment. His mind was a bit clearer now that he had been able to rest more.
The energy he had been growing used to, just under his skin, felt like it was slowly trickling back.
'Maybe I can fully heal myself soon.'
He didn't dare try to activate his healing ability now. It took a fair amount of concentration, and he was still in a lot of pain.
"Oh, you're awake."
Eva had turned around and noticed Lucas staring at her. She ran her hand down Red's fur. He was still snuggled up against Lucas' chest.
A faint purring sound entered Lucas' ears. An immediate jolt caused Lucas to stiffen.
