"Hey!"
The cat batted at the elf's face one more time. Lucas didn't respond.
"Fine, but this will be the last bit of help you get from me for a while."
The cat settled on the elf's chest and a low thrumming sound began to come out of the cat's throat.
The air around the two began sparkling as the cat's magic fell upon them. If Lucas had been conscious he would have realized that the pain he was feeling was disappearing and his body felt lighter.
When Lucas awoke again, the cat was gone and the barrier protecting them was also gone. The air smelled fresh like after the rain.
'Ugh. My head hurts.'
There was aching pain all over his body, but it was much less than before. A heavy weight on his stomach was making him feel uncomfortable.
He picked up his hand and gently stroked the hair that was attached to the human who was crushing him. Eva stirred under his touch.
