"Rania—" Alpha Kim angrily called his daughter, as if he hadn't already learned that Rania and anger were the worst combinations, especially since she had a terrible temper. She wasn't a cruel woman, but her father had done that to her.
"Oh please, don't tell me you finally grew a conscience, Pa. Your meetings with Jihoon, your secret calls to plan on who would mate the ever so lonely Kim Rania. I must admit, I'm quite disappointed that you would think that I didn't know about your dealings.
"Anyway, are you coming to the public square or not?" Rania asked, before pausing as if she remembered something.
Dalrae shook her head as if to plead with Rania not to do what she was about to, but Rania was far gone, and in her place was a girl fueled by anger towards a community that had failed her.
Looking into her father's eyes, and with a smirk on her face, Rania spoke, her voice so cold and stiff, like it wasn't ever calm and warm when they were talking to Dalrae earlier.
"As the reigning alpha of the Incayon pack, I, Kim Rania, command you to walk out and head to the public square."
"Rania, wait, my love. She's still your mother too," Dalrae said to her best friend who looked at her like she was far gone. Of course, she was aware, but if her father would always be willing to put her mother in danger, then she could do it on his behalf.
"Why, Dalrae? Why is it okay for him to threaten me with her, and yet when I do the same, it seems like some social dilemma? You're the only person who's been there for me. You've loved me without a doubt and you've always cared.
"He on the other hand," Rania said angrily while pointing at her father, "He took everything I believed in, and made me look like a joke. I mean nothing to him, that's why he thinks he can control me. I just wanna be free Dalrae," Rania sighed.
Alpha Kim watched his daughter interact with her beta as if they were sisters. Of course, he had known the relationship between Dale and Rania was never to be messed with. He had learned it firsthand.
He had once tried to use Dalrae to get to Rania, and it's safe to say half the warriors in the pack ended up in the dispensary for a week leaving their pack in the most vulnerable state. From then on, everyone had known to keep clear of Dalrae.
They were just two sisters bound by fate and responsibilities to their pack. They had work to do, and people to keep safe. Which was also why Dalrae gave Rania a look and reminded her of the promise they had made earlier.
"You promised me, Rani. you said you'd listen."
"And I did. Look at him, using his family as bait to get to power. I just want him to feel what I felt. I know what he did. I know I don't have evidence to prove it, yet, but someday, sister, someday I'll prove to you that he engineered my pain.
"However, for now, we're all going to the public square, besides, you promised you'd stay beside me," Rania said to Dalrae who just nodded. Anyone who had watched the two girls keenly was sure to realize that Rania never used her alpha tone on Dalrae.
She had never tried and that was something Rania was hoping to never do because she loved Dalrae so much, it would be cruel to subject her to such cruelty.
Maybe Dalrae also knew how special their friendship was, because she had vowed to never make Rania choose between her and the pack. After all, she would force Rania to choose the pack.
"Fine, let's go."
"Rania, please," Alpha Kim pleaded with her daughter as they walked out of the packhouse. The werewolves were watching, and the warriors had been seen entering Luna's house. They were just following orders anyway
"Oh, come now, Alpha Kim. I thought we were both about to bond through the loss of our mates, yeah?" Rania asked her father who looked at her, horrified, especially when Luna was brought to the public square by the guard.
At that moment, alpha Kim, whimpered.
He hadn't expected that there would come a day when his own child would be judging them and staring at them with hateful eyes. Their Rania had changed and it was their fault. They couldn't pin this on anyone, and that was the sad bit of it all.
"Rani—"
"Shhh, we're about to bond as a family," Rania said as she ran to her mother, gave her a hug, and left her confused and in the hands of the warriors. She knew this was the most humiliating day for her father, but even she didn't have the stomach to hurt her mother.
"Rania," Dalrae said to her friend, her voice pleading with her not to put Luna through that much shame, but Rania wanted to listen to her, at least not at the time.
"People of Incayon! I have some good news for you all. Gather around and let's hear it together!" Rania said, making her father look at her with worry etched on his face. She truly had gone insane. His child had finally lost it.
Alpha Kim looked around him, seeing his people before turning to see his fire being held by warriors. He wanted to bark orders at them and tell them not to hurt Luna, but he couldn't because his daughter had already given her orders.
Hopelessly, the alpha looked at his daughter, hoping to the goddess that Rania didn't do anything to her mother. Alpha Kim never wanted to see his mate and the mother of his little demon, be put to shame, much less by the demon herself.
"Okay, I have some announcements for you all, before you go back to your ever so dutiful lives. First, is that I'll be attending the alpha camp in three days, meaning that my parents will be in charge of the pack.
"However, keep in mind that Dalrae is my beta, which means that whatever decision she makes, is mine. So, listen to her, unless you want me to chop off your tails.
"It would really be cool if we all go for the monthly runs and some of y'all will be wiggling nothing in your behinds, aah the beauty that would be, maybe I should really try that. Oh wait, I'll note that when I come back from the alpha camp.
"Now that I've gotten that out of the way, we have gathered here to remind my father that he even has a mate. I think he keeps forgetting it, especially with how nosey he's grown in the past few weeks.
"Anyway, I don't care what you do with him, but if he's dead when I come back, I will burn Incayon from the inside out. Also, that woman there is my mother. It's a pity she has such a mate and a child, but hey, we can't choose our family, now, can we?
