Hearing her son's explanation, Mother Paulson laughed as she played along and helped to fan him. Whenever this cheerful mother was with her children, she became more playful than ever. And when people asked her, she would say, " I was their past lover in our past life."
Jade opened his mouth and spoke in a lazy tone as if he didn't want to.
" It's too soon for a visit and that will scare them. Just imagine arriving with gifts at someone's home when they're least expecting it. That is more like an ambush."
" You know what? I met your father at a friend's funeral and guess what? Just give a guess, come on kiddo."
Silence!!!!!!!!
No answer, silence reigned. Mother Paulson proceeded to answer her own question.
" Boy let me tell you. Am pretty sure that your dada was absolutely smitten by my charm. Immediately after the ceremony, we exchanged numbers. We got hooked up and three months down the lane, he proposed or else you and your brothers wouldn't be here." Mother Paulson had a silly smile on her face as she recalled the good olden times.
Jade let out a breathe as he looked up at his mother. " That was your story and this is mine mom. Phoenix and I just started dating and visiting her family now is totally off the list. You wouldn't want your future daughter in-law to run away with her family, would you? Just be patient."
His face had a serious expression as his eyebrows moved up and down which was somewhat amusing to look at. Mother Paulson nodded along to his words as she walked back to the couch next to the book shelf.
" That's very true. Since we can't visit them at least invite Phoenix over. That's a roundabout way to tackle this. I don't have a daughter and I always wished to have one but it's a pity that Troy was born a boy. I had dearly prayed for God at that time to give me a girl but rather I got a baby boy."
Her eyes shifted to every corner of the office as she spoke.
" Troy is the daughter in our home so just treat him as one. Am sure he wouldn't mind much. Remember you used to dress him like a little lolita when he was young."
Jade stopped as if contemplating something and asked. "But mom weren't you afraid that he would turn out to be gay when he grows up?"
Laughter filled the room after he questioned as they both laughed their lungs out.
It is not a secret within their circle that Troy is a fan of nude coloured lipsticks. He is so obsessed about his looks and grooming more like a woman. Some people mistake him for being gay but least do they know that he is so straight, just that his childhood habits took over him. Though he wears a small amount of lipstick, he still puts on suits, date girls and he is ever dashing as always.
Time was passing by quickly as the mother- son pair conversed and it was soon time to go home. A very few employees were left within the building as a great lot had already left. Jade compiled his work, shutting down his office computer. He placed the documents for tomorrow's meeting inside his crocodile hide brief case as he glanced at his mobile phone for the nth time.
" Are you expecting a call? You have been looking at your phone time and time again." Mother Paulson who was still sitted asked as she finished her juice and placed the glass down.
" Nah, just praying I could receive one." When done tidying his desk, Jade began walking towards his mother with his phone in hand. A text message came suddenly when he was about to place it inside the pocket of his suit pants. He smiled reading its contents.
