After saying those words, Lizzy pushed the paper further towards Jade and sat back as if watching a nice show.
Jade furrowed his brows before dialing his grandfather's number on his mobile phone. The call was answered after five rings and it was the butler who answered.
" Young Mast..."
" Pass the phone to grandpa." Hearing that it was the butler who answered, Jade ordered quickly.
Rustling sounds came from the phone's speaker before Grandpa Paulson's voice sounded. " Any trouble young man?"
" Why is Lizzy here?"
Grandpa Paulson let out a chuckle and answered in a leisurely manner. His aged voice had traces of excitement as he said,
" Oh! you mean your aunt?"
" I only knew a single Lizzy in my life. Tell me grandpa, why did you send her here. You knew and know that I wouldn't agree but still you sent her here." In a low voice, Jade asked as he coldly looked at Lizzy who was having a nice time playing with her phone.
" She is a member of the Paulson family and of course she has the right to work there. Don't tell me that you have already forgotten about that." Grandpa Paulson took a small break before resuming what he was saying.
" I sent her there so you could sort out your differences. I know of what happened between the two of you but she is now your uncle's wife and you can't change that. I can't change that either and that is why all of us need to battle with our inner demons and get past this. I may sound as if am siding with her but know this, since she married your uncle, she has become a Paulson and as the Paulson's, we should evade gossip and hurting each other. Do you now understand why I did that?"
Jade listened on as his grandfather rambled on and on. By the time Grandpa Paulson stopped, it was as if a century has already passed. Pressing his temples with much force, he diverted his gaze away from the woman sitted before him as he sighed.
" I understand but you also know it's not an easy feat. I know Lizzy more than you do and though she is uncle's wife, she will not be given any special privileges within the company. And lastly, if she tries to act mighty here, then I will not hesitate to fire her."
" Do whatever you deem fit but don't overindulge in your hate. That will ruin and affect you." Finishing his piece, Grandpa Paulson hung up immediately.
" You see, I wasn't lying." Seeing Jade placing the phone down, Lizzy chipped in as her eyes twinkled.
" No one said so unless you wanted to do that initially. Now get the hell out of my office."
" You don't have to be so rude as we will be seeing each other more often. And show some respect as am your beloved aunty."
" Are you sure you are my beloved aunty? You maybe uncle's beloved but that doesn't apply to everyone. We may have known each other intimately in the past but that is not the case anymore."
Letting out a snort, Lizzy stood up as she walked towards the door. As she was about to turn the door handle, a voice came behind her.
" Do you think I enjoy seeing your face that you left behind your résumé?"
Embarrassment and anger covered her face as she went back to retrieve the paper and immediately, she fled from the office.
