Placing her phone inside her pants pocket, Phoenix took one of the files as she flipped through the pages. She stopped midway eyeing the family portrait on the next shelf before sighing.

" Alright."
Sat on the executive chair inside the CEO's office, Jade had just finished reviewing the company's financial records when a call from the front desk came. Immediately after giving his consent, he hang up to massage his sore neck.
Jade had just resumed his position as the CEO and had to go over a lot of materials from the previous financial quarters.
A knock interrupted his action and then a slender figure walked in.
" I don't remember saying you could come in." Jade glanced at the person standing in front of him. Clad in a purple silk tight dress, Lizzy appeared charming before the eyes of many but not to Jade.
Smiling faintly, Lizzy took a step forward and sat down at her own accord. " As long as you aren't committing a crime in here, I don't see any problem with inviting myself in."
" This is my office not our office and we aren't that close for you to walk in like a stray spirit when you feel like it. If you want to humiliate yourself, then feel free to barge in next time. Now stop wasting my time and say whatever you came here for."
After saying this, Jade leaned back on his office chair as he eyed Lizzy as if she was not worthy of his time. Ever since they broke up, he had only met her once at her welcome party at the Paulson villa. Looking at her now, he felt anger and resentment towards her.
" I was passing by and thought I could stop by and say hi to my nephew." Lizzy's smile broadened further as she stressed the last word.
Jade snickered as he glued his eyes to her face. " Well, I think I don't have to tell you as you can clearly see on your own. If you are done then leave. I have a lot of pending work."
Lizzy remained sitted and showed no attempt of leaving. She unzipped her bag, taking out an A4 size paper and placed it on top of the big office desk.
" That's my résumé, I need a job."
Hearing such words, Jade laughed before becoming serious again. He eyed the paper for a second before retrieving his gaze and look at her face once more.
" I don't own a charity center and this is not a job seeking agent either. If you are lost I can call Uncle and inform him so he helps you out. You are his wife after all."
Lizzy's face became stiff and her smile quickly vanished. She had come here with the aim of securing a place within the company to show off before Jade. But least did she expect to be embarrassed on her first attempt.
_ ' He is just playing hard to get Lizzy. Don't give up.'_
With that thought, she smiled again and spoke as if wronged.
" I know that you hate me and don't want to see me but I need a job at the moment."
" I don't hate you Lizzy Morgan but rather I hate the demon that you have nurtured inside of you. And you are right, your presence disgusts me. There are lot of companies out there who would be willing to hire you."
" Well, father is the one who directed me here and am sure you wouldn't want to be on his bad side." Saying that, she lifted her chest a bit and showed her confident face. " Are you still going to act stubborn?"
_ ' Father? Aren't you ashamed of saying that.'_
