Phoenix lowered her head. There was an air of dejection around her at the moment that couldn't escape being felt by the man on the bed. Turning his head towards her as if he could see her, he remained in that position for a long time. When he was contented Jade shifted as he lay flat on the bed.
" Are you experiencing any problem at home?" He covered his lower body with the white hospital thin blanket as he waited for her answer.
Phoenix smiled to mask her loneliness. She straightened her back as she opened her mouth but no words came out right then. Clearing her throat she tried again.
" It's nothing much, am just tired from the past few days schedule." She tried to make her voice sound calm.
He didn't believe her. Can work make her sigh this much unless it was a huge work problem. He was sure something was bothering her.
" You know friends share and help each other in times of need even during happy times. Miss Jay, do you still consider me as your friend that you can't share your burdens? I might be able to help you even if it is not much, what do you say?"
_' you can't help me okay but you would only add to my problems'_ she shouted within her.
She wanted to tell him that he wouldn't be of any help. She sighed again which caused Jade to sigh too.
" Uhm Jade... Are you happy that you are gonna be able to see again?" She asked as her curiosity got the best of her.
" Why would you ask such a silly question, who wouldn't want to see again. I have been trapped in this cage and haven't been able to do what I wanted. So of course am happy and you should be happy for me right?" The smiling Jade asked her.
Seeing his smile, Phoenix wanted to chop him to pieces. It was like it was mocking and waving her goodbye.
" I was just asking, so what do you want to do after regaining your sight, tour the world, stay at home, reunite with your friends?"
He laughed leaving Phoenix confused. Why would he have time to tour the world as he still had to take his revenge and make himself a man again. His voice filled the hospital ward. He stopped and seriously spoke, " I don't have time for that. My enemies are still roaming out there so I have to strike back and get my revenge. Isn't that the first thing I should do, show those who toyed with me who is the game master."
Jade was a vengeful man and he knew it. He would make those who schemed and plotted against him pay the price for their deeds. He would hunt them down and make them pay for everything. But he had to thank them as he gained a friend.
Phoenix hadn't thought that he would still seek his revenge as it seemed as if it didn't matter as long as he got his eyes back. Facing him, she caressed the bed sheet.
" oh that's reasonable, I thought you would want to want to take a breather. Uhm what about your friends, would you befriend them again?"
Jadee kept mum for a while before slowly answering. " Since they left me on their own accord, why should I befriend them back when they say so. Am not a toy and a child Phoenix. I don't need friends to carry on living."
His last words cut through her soul making her want to cry.
" Does that mean you don't need me as your friend too. Am your friend remember?"
Jade chuckled upon hearing the question. Did she think of him as being an unreasonable man. " What made you say that. You have been my friend for these past weeks and you still are. Why would I abandon you when we don't have any bad blood between us. I don't know what made you ask that but I want you to know that am not an unreasonable guy."
" Well I thought you would leave me all alone. I don't want to sound silly but I can't help it. I may appear to be ever smiling but I need comfort too and company. So I hope you won't leave me." She clutched his arm.
" Why are you being silly. I wouldn't leave you after all we have shared a lot of moments together. You are my companion Phoenix."
