An hour flew by before the ward door was pushed open from the outside. Poking his head through the door space, Troy scanned the whole room. Sensing movement from behind her, the dozing Phoenix rubbed her sleepy eyes, stretching her body.
It was quite within the room. Troy glanced over at his brother on the bed before shifting his eyes over to Phoenix.
" Sorry for keeping you waiting for too long. I will let my driver drive you home." He offered.
Waving her hands in front of her chest, Phoenix politely rejected his offer.
" It's fine. I drove here so you don't have to worry. If there is nothing else I shall take my leave then." Phoenix picked up her handbag from the couch while eyeing Jade on the bed. " I will be leaving, I will invite you for a drink on one of the days to celebrate."
Saying that, Phoenix took quick strides toward the door as if running for her dear life.
She slowed down her pace once she was out of the hospital building. Heaving a sigh of relief, she walked towards her car. Focused on her phone, she didn't notice a person standing on her way.
Hitting a hard surface, Phoenix staggered backwards before steading herself. Lifting her face she was left wide eyed seeing the person before her. It was Peter Stone. This was once the closest person to Phoenix two years back.
Phoenix gathered her thoughts together before apologising. She prepared to leave when suddenly her wrist was grasped tightly.
Looking up, she gave him ' do we know each other look' before struggling to free her wrist.
" How have you been?" The man asked her.
Phoenix fiercely looked at him as if she wanted to tear him into pieces. Remembering the torture she underwent years back she felt her heart sting. His family has only brought misery to her life and left deep wounds within her heart.
" What do you think? And Mr stone don't think that just because we were once married you have the privilege to touch me as you please. Now let go." Phoenix continued making attempts to free her hurting wrist.
" For how long are you gonna act this way towards me Phoenix? I know I was wrong but it's not like I enjoyed seeing you suffering....."
She chimed in before Peter could complete his sentence.
" Don't think I will believe your lies Stone. Weren't you the one who teamed up with your mother to bully me? Don't come here and spout nonsense cause you not worth my time."
Phoenix took a deep breath as she locked their eyes before shifting her gaze to her wrist. " For how long are you gonna continue to hurt me. Don't you think it's enough? I don't blame you for not loving me Stone as I was the one who forced you into all of that. I don't blame you for giving me the cold shoulder but I will always hate you for all the pain you and your family caused me."
In her eyes different emotions danced around before being replaced by loathing. Peter's heart clenched as he saw this.
He never loved her and that was true. It is true that he was regretting his past actions towards Phoenix but he never regretted not loving her cause he never wanted to force himself to be with someone he didn't love.
Peter released her wrist as her words hit his ears. Pain could be seen in those hazel eyes as he watched her back getting small as she walked far and far away from him.
He replaced that with a smile as he turned towards the hospital entrance. His mobile phone immediately rang.
" Do you know that I have been waiting for a long time. Am starved and the hospital food is tasteless." A beautiful voice sounded from the speaker. This belonged to Tracy, Peter's wife who was his high school sweetheart.
" Am outside, I was held up by slow traffic so don't be angry huh. I brought your favourite lunch pack"
" You better hurry cause the baby is hungry."
" Mhm' I will. I wouldn't want to starve my baby. Love you and wait for me."
