Inside the office situated on the far left, Phoenix was now covered in droplets of sweat on her forehead. The song was now playing on repeat mode and the volume had been increased slightly. Her short and slightly thick frame jumped about appearing as if she was a tennis ball.
Her short legs were a sight to laugh at as she bounced up and down.
"Never give up, never give up
Never give up, never give up
No, no, oh
And I won't let you get me down
I'll keep gettin' up when I hit the ground
Oh, I never give up, no, I never give up no, no, oh
I won't let you get me down
I'll keep gettin' up when I hit the ground
Oh, I'll never give up, no, I'll never give up no, no, oh
I'll find my way, find my way home, oh, oh, oh
I'll find my way, find my way home, oh, oh, oh
I'll find my way, find my way home, oh, oh, oh
I'll find my way, find my way home, oh, oh, oh"
By the time the song ended, her hair was a mess and was exhaling loudly. She took a mouthful of water from the bottle she was holding. Wiping the sweat off her forehead, she circled around the table to her chair.
Phoenix was about to take a seat when a knock came from outside. Thinking that it was Lily or any other assistant, she went to unlock the door and went back to take a seat. Not hearing or sensing movement from behind her, she turned her head to look. Her eyes flashed with shock as they opened wide.
Phoenix stared at the figure standing on the other side of the door staring back at her. She blinked her eyes twice but the figure was still there. It was him, she wasn't dreaming. Her heart jumped as the man took a step inside her office.
It felt like a dream. It was all too surreal.
Jade stopped before her as he still locked his eyes with her's. Phoenix who couldn't believe it ended up giving him a slight slap. Being slapped out of nowhere, Jade furrowed his eyebrows.
" What was that for?" He touched his cheek.
Phoenix flinched upon hearing that familiar voice. She didn't expect him to pay her a visit and suprise her. Well it was a pretty big suprise as she wasn't expecting to see him.
" Um um ... Am sorry, I didn't mean to slap you. Are you really Jade the soldier?" She stared at his face, those eyes which were looking at her. She felt confused. Phoenix had met and knew Jade after his accident therefore she had never seen his eyes.
Beautiful, that was the word she found. The ocean blue colour highlighted in those eyes made her hold her breath when Jade smiled at her.
" You don't think am a ghost do you and is that how you greet a friend. I came all the way here to pay you a visit but it seems like you aren't happy with me here. Am leaving." He took a step backwards as he eyed her.
The reaction was what he wasn't expecting. Phoenix rushed forward and hugged his waist tightly, plastering her body against his. His body stiffened as his breath hitched. Her shoulders were trembling a little which scared Jade.
_'did she take that seriously, I was only kidding. Is she so sensitive?'_
Her tears permeated through Jade's shirt scorching his skin. He was at a loss on what to do. Rubbing her back, he tried to make her stop crying.
" You know I was kidding and I wasn't really leaving. Now can you stop crying or else your employees will say I bullied you."
She immediately ceased crying but never let go of him.
" is this really you, I thought you also would leave me after you regain your eyesight. I thought I would be alone. Do you know how scared I was cause I didn't want to lose a friend again. You never picked up my calls, did I say something to make you sad." As Phoenix was quite short, it appeared as if she was a 17 years old student in his embrace. His broad shoulders entirely covered her entirely eventhough she was kinda of a little chubby babe.
He listened to her complaints. It's not like he didn't want to talk to her but rather wanted to give her a suprise. Instead of a smile, there were tears on her face. Jade tried to free himself but Phoenix was hugging him tightly. Not wanting to hurt her, he totally forgot about struggling as he stood straight with her in his embrace.
