Chereads / When We Were Married / Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 9

And the day after, the maids started packing my things. Everything became surreal. I just can't believe that I am moving out in the next few days. I went out of my room with my phone and went to the backyard to breathe in some fresh air. I have been staying a lot inside my room since I found out that I was pregnant and it is basic to think that it might possibly harm my body.

I didn't walk around that much so I also walked around the backyard to exercise myself. I looked at myself in the bathroom earlier and the bump is less likely to be seen. It's not that big yet and I feel kind of thankful about that because I still get to move freely like before.

Aside from basic things, I actually don't know a lot about pregnancy since I have never been pregnant before and it's not that I knew someone who became pregnant.

That is why I am thinking about visiting a doctor to ask about things that I need to do and not. The fact that I am unknowledgeable about this is scaring me. I am so afraid to do a mistake that can harm the baby. But all I can think of that I have to do now is trying hard not to slip and fall.

After a few minutes, I went to the kitchen because I wanted to get some milk. I continued walking around and went back to get more but I suddenly start thinking that drinking too much milk might harm me. What if my stomach suddenly starts to have bowel problems and I accidentally poop out the baby.

I gulped and put the milk box back inside the fridge after looking at it for too long.

"Why did you put it back?" I freaked out when someone suddenly started walking from behind me,

"M-mom," I said and closed the fridge.

'Did I scare you? I'm sorry," she said and walked closer to me, "You want it?" she asked and opened the fridge again.

"K-kind of," I said. I just realized that I can ask mom if I have questions since she had given birth to me and my brother already. But I don't feel very comfortable asking her about things.

I looked at her as she pour milk into a glass. "Drink and eat anything you want," she said.

"I was just thinking I might end up getting an upset stomach because of this,"

"Not with this brand of milk," she said and handed me the glass of milk. I drank it right away and saw her looking at me with a glint visible in her eyes. I immediately finished the glass and put it back on the counter.

"I'm leaving now, thanks," I said and ran away from that awkward moment. I saw how her look changed when she looked at me. She seemed more proud than disappointed and I don't like that for an unknown reason.

I was walking up the stairs when my phone started ringing. I looked at it and saw Zach's name on the screen. I immediately answered it and put the phone near my ear and continued walking back into my room. "Hey," I greeted him. I heard the sound of a car door closing before he answered.

"Hey, how are you?" I have been receiving this question from him every day since he found out that I was pregnant.

"Fine, so far," I said as I open the door and saw the maids packing my clothes. I smiled at them and went to the balcony to continue talking to Zach on the phone.

"I have scheduled you for a check-up," he said.

"Already?!"

"Yeah," he schedules things faster than other people. Someone who doesn't have a lot of fo connections like me can't relate.

"Alright," I answered. Everything went silent on the other line and the awkwardness started overcoming. I gulped.

We both don't know what to talk to when we're on a call with each other. This happens every time we talk. We just run out of things to talk about and it makes the atmosphere awkward.

"You're driving?" I asked to break the awkward silence.

"Yeah, I'm on my way home," he answered. Speaking of his home, I have never seen his house before. I don't know if it's a house or a studio. I want to ask him but don't know where to start.

"W-where do you live anyway?" I asked and got embarrassed because of stuttering.

"XXX subdivision, it's quite far from your place,"

"Ahh okay," I answered and gulped. That is where my university owner lives. I wonder how huge his house looks. Based on his answer, it's not just a studio, it must be a real deal.

"Do you want anything?" he asked being the one to break the upcoming silence.

"Not really, I have them here in the house," I said pertaining to milk and nuts that I have been craving this past few days.

"Tell me if you need something,"

"Yeah,"

The awkward silence began again.

I cleared my throat and stood straight up. "About letting your parents know," I started talking and purposely paused to hear what he think about it.

"We don't need to rush it. We can do it after the check-up,"

I am very thankful for him for being like this to me. He asks me first and it's making me think that my choice is his priority.

And in just a short period of time, my things were all moved into Zach's house and today, I am off to say goodbye to the house that I have been since I opened my eyes to reality.

Mom and Dad didn't even see me off. I don't know where they went. All that I had to do is to say goodbye to our maids and promise them that I will visit sometimes. With that, I went into Zach's car that I have never seen before.

"How many cars do you have?" I asked him randomly.

"Why do you ask?"

"Nothing, I just want to ask," I said and looked at him. His eyes are focused on the road in that same position again. His elbow is on the window and he's holding the steering wheel with the other hand.

"5," he finally answered.

"For yourself?" I asked. 5 cars and he's living all alone?

"Yeah," he answered as if it's not a big deal. I gulped and looked away. "And the check-up is tomorrow by the way,"

"Y-yeah," I answered.

I wonder how the check-up will turn out. I hope I don't get to have any trouble during the pregnancy. I also wonder how the baby is doing since I don't feel like I am really pregnant. Everything in my body seems very normal except the fact that I crave more and I always throw up in my bathroom.

The drive lasted more than I expected. His house is quite far away from home. He opened the door for me and when I went out, I was astonished by how huge his house is.

It's way too different than my parent's house and his parent's house. It's way more modern and everything you can see outside is all glass.

I looked around the huge parking space outside the house that is probably 20 meters away from the gate. "When did you buy this?" I asked him.

"2 years ago, come in," he said. I didn't even see him get my other things from the trunk. He walked closer and opened the door using a passcode. When I saw the things inside, I got even more astonished. I couldn't help but let my mouth fall open.

When you enter the house, you can see the huge glass staircase in front of you, and on the right side, you can see a gray sofa that must be the receiving area and if you turn left, there is a room that seems like the kitchen.

The kitchen didn't interest me at all so I went and passed by the gray sofa and went to a sliding door which is a way towards a pool outside. The pool is smaller than ours but it looks even better with all the black modern lounges facing the poolside and something caught my attention.

"A jacuzzi?" I asked myself. "Woah,"

The first floor is really spacious, especially the receiving area. When you look up, you can see a modern chandelier that looks like it was worth more than a fortune.

And because I went to the pool, I lost Zach. I went to the kitchen, the cupboards are gray and the counters are white. The colors matched perfectly with the matt walls. It looks very spacious and seems to have all the equipment there is.

There is a rectangular dining table that can fit 6 people in it and a few steps away from it is a two-seater rectangular table on a balcony.

There is also a door in the kitchen that leads to a comfort room that must be meant for guests to use.

"Xhyrah," I immediately went to where the voice came from to see where Zach came from since I lost him earlier. I looked up and saw him on the stairs. "Come here," he said so I followed him.

Once you go up the stairs, you can see a black chaise lounge and empty bookshelves. then you'd immediately see a corridor. He walked through the corridors and opened a room. We went inside and I saw a room that looks quite similar to his old room in his parent's house.

"Your things are already inside the closet," he said.

"We're sharing a room?" I asked unconsciously.

"You got a problem with that?" he asked. I gulped and shook my head. I glanced at the bed and it looks quite huge so I got less nervous.

I have never thought about sharing a room with Zach. I missed thinking about rooms because I was busy thinking about how huge his house is going to be.

He went outside and I followed him. He went downstairs without saying anything so I continued exploring the second floor. There is a room with glass walls that I saw, I went and slid the glass to enter the room. There I saw a huge sectional sofa and a huge TV in front with shelves all around it filled with random things. There is a door that leads to a comfort room. And when you enter the room, you can see a counter, a drink machine filled with all sorts of canned drinks, and a small refrigerator filled with frozen snacks. And I saw something I didn't expect to see. A popcorn machine.

"Hehe, cute," I said to the thing that seemed to be misplaced. It was red and didn't fit in the room quite well. There is also a rack filled with snacks and when you open the drawers and cupboards, you'll see more different kinds of snacks.

This room must be the entertainment room.

I went out and went to the room in front of the glass room. I saw a huge desk with a computer. And after seeing it for a second, I thought that it must be his office. There is also a chaise lounge which seems to be a pair of the ones near the stairs. There are a lot of shelves filled with books and documents that were obviously used for his job.

A picture frame caught my eye. It was standing on his desk facing the chair. I immediately picked it up and saw that it was him from high school.

He didn't seem to age at all. He just made himself more attractive than he was before.

I immediately put the picture back to where it came from to avoid him from catching me looking at his pictures.

I went out and it was the end of the corridor. There is a huge glass window and pallet couches. There is also a huge plant, planted in a black huge vase. I don't know if it was real but it looked good. The end of the hall looks very cozy. I can hang out there if I feel like it.

I went to the place next to the stairs and opened one of the two doors. It's an extra room. It must be for guests. And the other one is a storage room.

I went back and walked the other way. I went to the door in front of our room and saw an empty room. Then a staircase caught my eye. I went up and it was another floor.

'Why is his house so huge? He's living all alone," I said and when I opened the door to the last floor, I saw a room with glass walls. I saw a billiard table and a bar counter, a tv, and another sectional sofa.

But what caught my attention is the view of a hill. I went out using a sliding door and went to the railings and looked at the view.

"Woah, pretty," I said and closed my eyes to feel the breeze touching my skin and flying my hair.

I spent 5 minutes staring at the beautiful view and went down the stairs and saw Zach looking for me,

"I have been looking for you," he said when he saw me coming down the stairs.

"The view upstairs is pretty," I told him,

"Glad you liked it," For no reason, my cheeks heated up so I looked away, "Let's go eat downstairs,"

The house is huge and seems to look livable. Of course, what do I expect? I looked around and imagined myself living here for the rest of my life. With Zach and the baby. But nothing seems to come into my mind. I couldn't imagine it. I couldn't imagine anything.

Seems like the following stages of my life will be a surprise for me.
