Chapter 23 - The City Of Zaril.

After traveling through the forest for two days Kenta finally arrived at the nearest city. Once Kenta had reached the entrance, he stopped at the gate where there were many guards doing the entrance checkups, he decided to get in line along with the other people who were already gathered there.

Many adults along with Children's and elderly had joined a long line at the entrance gate.

"Alright, next." the guard said after all the people who were standing before him had gone ahead it was finally Kenta's turn, the guard stared at him closely while narrowing his eyes. "Pardon my rudeness but, where are your parents?" the guard questioned confusedly. Hearing his word Kenta's expression became slightly bitter as he replied. "Unfortunately, they're not here, I'm traveling alone." Kenta said his words coming out bluntly.

The guard stared at him for a few second however when he saw the faint shadow on Kenta's face, and remembering his words, his expression became that of realization. "M-My apology, please go on ahead." he said stepping to the side, "... Thank you." Kenta said nodding his head before entering the city.

A scenery of many different buildings reflected in his deep blue eyes, as well as a herd of people. Sound of music as well as the voices of people sounded inside everywhere. "This place is as big as the other cities I've visited so far." he quietly muttered.

The vicinity was well order, unlike the city he had lived his entire life there wasn't any garbage thrown on the ground. There were many knights patrolling different parts of town making it hard for there to be any kind of robbery.

The city of Zaril is one of four major cities of the Kingdom of Barat located in southern parts of the kingdom. Even though it's not the biggest city in the kingdom, it's ruled directly by the royal family. And is kept in good condition due to the government efforts. There were many key Officials placed in every city as a way to make sure nothing goes out of place, as it was their job to keep the tranquility within the city.

Seeing the safety precaution place in town he was genuinely impressed. Kenta slipped into a crowd of people who were heading towards the noble section of town. It was apart no commoner would step foot in however Kenta had a reason to head into that location.

There was an institution where anyone with magic power can sign, once their sign they will officially receive their own card which gives various information about one's class magic power and what kind of element that person can use.

Kenta had done much research back in the orphanage, he always wondered if he had the requirement for magic. And now he can finally try signing up, while he now had his sword it would be good for him to have some other means to protect himself. After walking for roughly 30 minutes, he came to an abrupt stop.

In his line of sight was a building which had many different glass windows, he walked towards a two-sided glass door which automatically opened on its own, Kenta stopped before the door and looked at it curiously for a moment.

It was his first time seeing a door that can opened on its own. "Move it kid." "Ugh." before Kenta could walked towards the front counter, he was shoved roughly from behind and fell down to the ground. When Kenta turned his head to look back, he saw a rather chubby man looking down on him from above.

The man snorted through his nose before ignoring the cold gazed, he had received from Kenta and walked away. 'Should I kill this guy' such thoughts were surfacing in his mind however as though letting go Kenta simply sighed before getting up from the ground. He straightens his shirt and shorts before heading towards the lady standing behind the counter.

"Excuse me, could you tell me where I sign up to receive my own identification card?" Kenta ask the lady, "Yes, actually this is where you sign up." the lady replied while showing a radiant smile. Her flaming red hair went smoothly down her back.

As she gazed at Kenta with her red pupil, there wasn't a single trace of sun burn or any kind of spot of her smooth skin. She definitely was a beautiful woman, however Kenta gazed at her with his eyes filled with in differentness.

"Umm... may I asks where your parents are?" she said while looking at Kenta, "I'm alone, my parents are not here." he replied, "I see, well then could you tell me your age? to register you must be at least 13 years old." she said. ".... I see, I'm 14 right now." Kenta said as a relief expression filled his face. He was worried he wouldn't get to register due to his age, but if their requirements were 13 years old then he was fine.

"14, I see well then can I ask your name?" the lady inquired curiously. "It's Kenta Logan." he responded curtly. "I see then Sir Logan could you step this way please?" she said gesturing towards a door behind her. Kenta stared at the door for a few second before walking forward. "Good luck." the lady said with a pleasant smile. Kenta kept walking without turning back. Once he had made it through the door, he looked curiously at the machine which were placed inside.

The room was painted white left, right up and down all he could see was white. However, at the center of the room he saw a machine that seems to resemble a small box. The only difference was that it was made entirely out of glass.

Allowing his curiosity to compel him Kenta walked towards the machine, many numbers and letters were placed on the various small buttons. "Is this what they're going to use to measure my mana?" he muttered to himself.

(Good you're here could you step inside the machine?) Kenta flinches slightly when he suddenly heard a feminine voice speak to him. He quickly turned his head to the sound of the voice. Then his eyes landed on a speaker which was placed on the room ceiling. (Could you step inside, there is a long line waiting outside) the voice said.

Nodding his head Kenta walked towards the door of the machine, as though sensing his presence the door opened automatically. Seeing this happening again his eyes were wide opened reminding him how advanced technology was in this world.

Once Kenta was inside the door to the machine closed tightly before it started lightning up, many different colors flashed before Kenta's eyes. White, red, green, blue and yellow. It went on for several seconds before the screen numbers started rising. 1... 100... 200... 300... 400... 500... 1000... the numbers continued rising until it was at 20,000 where it eventually stopped. The lights of the machines finally went out and the door opened.

(Okay, we have the results, wait! Tw-Twenty thousand?) the shock and confused voice resounded inside Kenta's ear.
