After Kenta had gone along with the elderly man, he brought him towards an extravagant looking carriage that was parked at the roadside.
It had two horses tied at the front. There were also two guards standing at the carriage door. Even though their uniform was slightly soaked from the heavy rain, they still stood with great dignity.
Once they saw the elder man approaching, they both bowed their heads respectively before opening up the carriage door.
"Mr. Michael preparation for our departure is complete." The guard said once the doors are opened.
"I see that's good; I'll leave our protection to you." He responded simply, before stepping into the carriage.
Kenta also followed his lead, staring at the carriage with a curious look. It wasn't his first time seeing a horse drawn carriage, but it was his first time being a passenger of one.
He widens his eyes seeing the interior of the carriage that was wide enough to easily fit five people.
Kenta seated himself across from Michael who was staring outside the carriage window, viewing the beautiful scenery of the outside. Although the skies were still cloudy, and the outside had slight darkened, he still looked at the scenery with a look of admiration.
The noisy sound of the carriage wheel could be heard as they went on their way.
"You must be quite frightened from what happened to you." Michael said turning his gaze towards Kenta, who had seated himself before him. His voice was calm, but it held deep sorrow, as though sympathizing with Kenta's situation.
Kenta perhaps sensing that, kept his silence with a frown as he stared back at the man while raising his vigilance towards him.
Seeing that, Michael sighed before speaking. "Please allow me to formally introduce myself. My name is Michael Wescott, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"What do you want with me?" Kenta suddenly asked, narrowing his ocean blue eyes faintly. Hearing his question, Michael made a gesture as though to tell him he means no harm.
"My family owns an orphanage in this town. When I saw what happened to you, I figured I'd take you there." Micheal answered Kenta's questions with a smile.
However, Kenta kept a frown on his face. Although Michael intentions were most genuine, something inside him couldn't accept that.
Was he being pitted?
When those thoughts filled his head, his brow furrowed sternly. He didn't like that, or rather, he refused to accept someone's sympathy after they ignored his parents when they needed them the most.
"I don't need your sympathy." He replied coldly while clenching his fist. Blood started to trickle from his palm, as his fingernails dug into his skin, leaving behind bruises from his cut skin.
"You're a feisty kid, aren't you? Is it okay to ask how old you are?" Micheal inquired; while taking out a handkerchief and offering it to Kenta, Kenta took the handkerchief reluctantly before responding.
"I'm 11." Hearing his age, Michael widen his eyes faintly.
"11, huh... Then you're among the youngest at the orphanage right now." He said bitterly, glancing at Kenta.
"What kind of place is the orphanage?" Kenta asked while a look of curiosity shines in his toneless eyes.
"Fufufu... so you are interested after all, aren't you." Michael said chuckling to himself. However, Kenta's frown deepens.
"The orphanage is filled with kids close to your age. They all lost their family due to some unavoidable circumstances." He explained, his smile fading.
"Some of them are a victim of the corruption that his taken root inside this country, much like yourself." He continued with a serious face.
"Corruption." Kenta muttered to himself.
He had just lost everything dear to him due to the people who holds power in this country, his obvious despise towards those in position was justified.
Seeing the look on Kenta's face, Michael could easily guess what thoughts he must be having.
'He had witnessed his family being murdered right before his eyes; it's no wonder the boy holds such hatred towards the noble and royal class. He wasn't the only one… Many of the kids had lost their parents because of government inside this Kingdom, the ones with power had become arrogant. No, it's not just this country.'
Michael made a look of contemplation as he thought about the negative traits of the nobles, it wasn't just them, people in general who holds power tend to look down of the weaker ones who are powerless.
Whether it's to satisfy their personal desires, or whether it's to prove their superiority. It was hard to say.
His family created the orphanage to take care of the ones who had lost their loved ones because of the corruption going on inside the Kingdom.
However, he was still powerless to do anything to stop it. He wore a bitter expression as he contemplates.
"What's wrong?" Kenta asked, observing Michael who was lost in thought. Michael came back from the sea of thought when hearing the voice of Kenta before him.
"It's nothing… I was just wondering what your plans for the future are, you're still a young boy now that you have lost your parents, you're going to have to decide what you're going to do with your life now." He explained to him with difficulty.
Although, he thought Kenta was still too young to be think of such things now, but it wouldn't hurt for him to learn earlier when thinking of his situation.
"It won't be the same as it's been when you were living with your parents…You should take your time and think about your own future?" Michael said, staring at Kenta's expression. For an instant, his face became bitter before it returned back to its previous emotionless expression.
"I want to kill the ones who had taken my happiness from me." Kenta said in a clear voice. His murderous intent could be felt clearly, for a moment, Michael even saw an illusion of something manifesting behind Kenta, an evil intent.
"Ehh." But hearing the words he never thought he would ever hear from the mouth of an 11-year-old boy, he raised a surprised voice, while looking at Kenta blankly.
Seeing his reaction, Kenta scoff. "Was my answer really that far out of your expectation?" he asked, tilting his head.
"Of course, you want revenge, do you even know what that means? You'd be going up against the government. Are you sure you want to do that?" Michael asked while showing a serious face.
While looking straight into his eyes Kenta replied. "I've already made up my mind, I hate this world! The people living in this world are all useless, why should I care what happens to those who would take so easily from others?!" He expressed his intentions clearly, his mouth twisting in anger.
The powerless people are no different, they turn a blind eye towards both him and his parents when they needed them.
No matter how much he thought about it, he can't forgive any of them.
'They are all equally guilty!' He thought to himself, frowning.
"Like I said before… You're not the only one who went through this, many kids from the orphanage all lost their family too, you know? But they don't desire revenge, but a more peaceful life." Michael explained, while looking at Kenta.
"That's because their all a bunch of cowards!" Kenta retorted shouting.
Seeing the resolved and determination coming from Kenta, Michael sighed quietly.
He honestly wishes the boy before him could just have a more peaceful life after what happened to him earlier, but that seems impossible at this moment.
There were many people who tried fighting against the government, but without exception, all of them were executed before they could achieve anything.
He just wishes Kenta would somehow change his mind when he finds out the harsh reality was.
In the end, humans are a bunch of narcissistic and selfish individuals, who only want to satisfy their own needs and desires, whether it's through money, politics or pure satisfaction, in the end everyone has a little bit of selfishness.
It's impossible to live in a world where there is no selfishness, that's like living in a world where the masses never express themselves or their opinions.
"I see..." Michael replied faintly, then fix the posture of his seating.
No conversation happened after that; Kenta enjoyed the new experience of riding inside a carriage for the first time. The road was clear and smooth, so the carriage didn't shake too often.
After roughly 30 minutes of silence, a massive size mansion came into view, showing a large, lush garden of greenery with a large size fountain spraying water on the grassy field every now and then.
The carriage came to a stop at the large two-sided golden gate. Two guards bowed their heads before opening up the gate.
"We are finally here, after you." Michael said to Kenta gesturing him to leave the carriage. Kenta step down from the carriage and widen his eyes, seeing the beautiful scenery of the mansion and the cloudy night sky before him. The cold night air gently caresses his cheek.
"Shall we go?" Michael said, with a faint smile.
Thus, they both made their way towards the mansion.
