Kenta sat down on the massive size bed and stared absentmindedly through the window, viewing the beautiful scenery of the garden outside. However—
"Hey! Kenta are you awake?" A beautiful voice continued calling him from behind the door.
Seeing that he sighed once before getting off the bed.
Even though he would much rather stay in bed a bit longer, he knew that voice wouldn't stop calling out to him until he answered. He slowly opened the door with a creaking sound.
The person that appeared before the door was of course Ellen, her silver hair fluttered gracefully along with a sweet fragrance.
Her skin looked radiant with the sun light illuminating through the see-through window behind her.
She was extremely cute, to the point that many would have their hearts stolen with a single glance.
By appearance she was probably only a few years older than him, but Kenta was unaffected by her charm, on the contrary, his indifferent expression hadn't even wavered in the slightest.
"Is there something you want?" He asked curtly, getting straight to the point to figure out her purpose of visiting him so early in the morning.
Hearing his question, she showed a small smile, "We are going to have breakfast soon so, I was planning to interduce you to the others while we eat. Does that sound good?" she asked, while keeping her smile on her face, however—
"I refuse, I have no intention or desire to get along with anyone here. Now if that's all, I'll be going back to sleep." He said with an indifferent tone.
There was no annoyance, nor was there any detest present in his voice. Judging by his expression, Ellen guesses he really had no interest in accepting her invitation.
Her radiant smile crumpled, turning into a small frown, she could only stare at his face with a vex look.
Seeing that, Kenta judge that his words had got through to her and quickly turned his back to go back inside his room, when—
"Wait!" Ellen suddenly grabbed his left hand. "Eh..." Kenta raised a surprised voice involuntarily when he had felt the sensation of his left arm being grabbed, he turned his head to look at Ellen who had thwart his movement.
"Is there something else you needed?" He asked, tilting his head curiously. However, there was hidden displeasure laced in his toneless voice, perhaps noticing that Ellen bit her lips bitterly.
"What do you need now? Can you hurry it up?" Kenta added indifferently, his voice rougher this time.
"Huh? Ah... Well, you see, will you have lunch with me?" She said with a shrill voice; it seems she was greatly flustered by her own actions as her face was bright red from
embarrassment.
Kenta stared at her for a few seconds before heaving a troubled sigh. "Fine, let's have lunch. But that's all." He said calmly before shaking his hands to forcefully free himself.
Hearing his words, Ellen's expression lit up like Christmas trees. Though Kenta thought this was a complete pain, he really didn't have the slightest intention of getting along with the children of this orphanage. Once he had gained enough experience to move alone, he is going to leave as soon as possible.
'I need to get strong.' He thought he needed power in order to avenge his parents.
He swore he wouldn't forgive those who had stolen the warm happiness from him, and so he will live become strong and make those bastards pay.
That dream he had last night was probably a message for him to keep moving forward.
"Great! Can't wait! I'm sure you'll change your mind once you meet everyone." Ellen said as she jumps for joy, completely ignorant of Kenta's inner thoughts, Kenta kept his indifferent look as he returned to his room.
Inside another room located on the top layer of the mansion was a small room though there were expensive items there.
A gorgeous painting of the mansion's owner was hanging gracefully on the white ceiling walls.
"Well then is it okay for me to ask the circumstance regarding the boy?" A beautiful woman who seems to be in her late thirties was seated around a small wooden table.
Her voice was like clear melody to any who heard it.
Michael who was seated before her started to explain how he came across Kenta while he was in the capital.
The explanation took only 10 minutes for him to give the general gist of thing surrounding the boy. Hearing the explanation, she could only sigh gloomily hearing the misfortune that had befell young Kenta.
Being executed due to tax was a common thing. It was so common that she was greatly concern about the direction this Kingdom was headed.
"The royal family seems to be increasing the tax fees once a month, eventually there will be more kids who will suffer as well." She said with a slightly conflicted face. Hearing her words, Michael also had a stern face while nodding his head.
"Thats not all, I must tell you to keep an eye on this boy to make sure he doesn't go down the wrong path." He said with a bitter face.
"Hmm... wrong path? What do you mean? Care to elaborate?" She asked, confused by his words.
"He seems to have a big hatred towards the upper class." He said recalling the words Kenta had said to him before.
Hearing his explanation, a look of understanding fell over her face, "I see… So, does that means he wants revenge?" She asked, tilting her head to the side, Michael confirmed her words with a nod of his head. 'Indeed, something like that is very unwise. To get revenge he will be incurring the wrath of the royal family. They will have him beheaded publicly as a form of warning to make sure no such fools try anything like this again.' So far, there has been only three people who were brave enough to go against the royal family. But all of them were killed before they could achieve any good results.
They simply wasted away their lives. To oppose royal authority one needed absolute power, enough power to crush an empire.
Although there are a few individuals who could potentially ruined a country, they usually kept to themselves.
The beings who currently stood at the top of this world power were the various temples scattered around the world, but they usually don't get involved with outside matters.
'Well, there is that troublesome woman who has been causing problems recently.' In the back of her mind, the scene of a woman commanding various magical beasts flash briefly.
Just how many unfortunate kingdoms were laid to ruins because of her wild beast?
The number was uncountable. However, putting that matter aside for now, she thought back on the current situation.
"Thoughts of opposing royal authority is extremely dangerous." She said with a sigh.
They'd have to let him know how bad it is to hold such grudges against the royal family before the boy grows up while being obsessed with his thoughts of vengeance.
She once again heaved a heavy sigh to expel her worries. Michael only showed a wry smile seeing his older sister in that state.
Though he did feel greatly troubled to suddenly cause his sister with such unexpected responsibility.
He didn't want her to be over work by giving her more work than she can handle. He was the one who decided to take Kenta under his care, shouldn't he have been the one who look after him?
'No, my position wouldn't grant me enough time for that.' He thought regretfully.
He made a contemplative expression as though thinking of many ways to lessen her burdens.
However, as though clearly seeing through his thoughts she cleared her throat with a cough.
"Well then, I should get things ready for today. I'm sure everyone is already awake by now." she said, getting up from her chair. Michael also got to his feet, preparing to leave.
"By the way, you're going out today again, right?" she asked, Michael nodded his head in responds.
"I have a meeting with your majesty today." He said calmly.
"Oh, I see… Well then, see you later." She said before walking out the room.
Michael stared at her back before leaving after her.
